Sjajno opremljen CD, sa odličnim inner sleeve-om, i intrigantnom storijom Paul Morley-a na temu NewOrder urađenom (ali skroz uslovno rečeno:) u vidu pitanja i odgovora... neprepričljivo, ali _možda_ jednom bude otkucano (za godinu ili dve, zavisi od interesa ;) "Johnny, don't point that gun at me..." (1963) * Uopšteno: Ko zna, zna, ko do sad nije saznao, neće nikad. Kolekcija od 16 bisera, obavezna za svakog ko drži do sebe i malo, za svakog ko ima nameru da napravi dobru žurku, za svakog ko ne želi da pravi žurke već čuva ovaj biser samo za sebe i "one" trenutke, ma koliko bio na dnu ili na vrhu. "some people like to deceive you, while others may feel that they need you, but i do the best that i can, keeping my world in my hands" (ruined in a day) * Informativno: naglasak je na periodu posle 1985, dakle na vreme kad su NO potpuno zaokružili svoj koncept pesama o ljubavi, čežnji, svetu unutar svakoga od nas, pripadanju i izdaji. "but i'm quite sure that you'll tell me just how i should feel today" (blue monday) Kompilacija označava prelazak u London Records posle kraja Factory. Nove verzije su čvršće (one, sa sufixom 94, kao i run2) i za razliku od prethodne kompilacije Substance (1987) sa 12-inčnim miksovima, ovde su single verzije tako da se strogo uzevši dva izdanja poklapaju samo u pesmi thieves like us. Nešto preko 70 minuta muzike je sasvim dobro ukomponovano a meni možda ostaje da žalim za izostavljanjem favorita sub-culture, i eventualno, temptation ili state of the nation. (mada, kako baš ove stvari nisu imale 7" verzija, bilo bi to čisto dupliranje materijala sa substance...) "what do i get out of this, i always try i always miss" (sub-culture) * Nezaobilazno: Ian Curtis Ma koliko to nekome svemirski zvučalo, senka JD se oseća u svakom udarcu bas bubnja, svakom ubodu Hook-ovog _jedinstvenog_ soliranja na basu, u svakom stihu, govorio on o bekstvu, drogama, fudbalu, okeanu, jutarnjem suncu, ubistvu, (jednom rečju?) ljubavi. Beat surrender (EP) # albumi objavljeni i kod nas! Poceli su delovanje sa prvim Punk talasom, da bi izrasli u jednu od najznacajnijih ostrvskih grupa koja je delovala u vremenu '77-'82. Kada je prvi album izasao mladi Weller puni 17 godina, a njihov prvenac dobija povoljne kritike... Po nekoliko puta proglasavani za bend godine, Weller za gitaristu godine... Nihove pesme se odlikuju energijom, zvececim rickebackerima i dobrim tekstom. Proglasavani za naslednike The Who i krivci za ponovnu pojavu MOD pokreta... Karijera The Jam se krece uzlaznom linijom, da bi u njenom zenitu Weller odlucio da osnuje novi bend (The Style Council) sa Mick Talbot-om, te da se bavi drugacijim stilom muzike (soul & funky). Onaj ko je imao srecu da gleda "Live Aid"('84) mogao je da uziva i u njihovom nastupu. The Style Council se razilaze pocetkom devedesetih... Danas se Weller bavi opet drugacijim stilom muzike...ponovo svira tvrdje i ostrije, mada je njegov rapav glas zadrzao boju soula. Materijal sa poslednjeg albuma "Live Wood" je nedavno predstavljen na MTV-u. Za Weller-a se moze reci da je izrastao u velicinu muzicara na cije ime cete naici u svakoj rock enciklopediji, da je jedan od retkih iz "nove" generacije u kojima jedan Neil Young ili Van Morisson vide dostojnog zamenika. Weller-ovo vreme tek dolazi!

Kucam ga ovih dana, ako te ne mrzi, podseti me mailom, OK..? * Što se tiče spiska pesama, ruined in a day, touched by the hand of god i world in motion, nigde ne piše da su bonus tracks. A i ne vidim razloga za to, sve su to regularni singlovi i to KAKVI..! Jel može malo detalja..? OK :) Touched by the Hand of God - 1987. Te godine, za najbolji video spot godine izabran je fantastični true faith, ali je moj lični favorit video za ovu pesmu, i to ne samo u listi NO video radova... O čemu se tu zapravo radi: njih četvoro su za tu priliku skinuli heavy metal ikonografiju, ali DO DASKE, sa sve onim špicastim gitarama, pokretima, perikama do pola leđa, kožnim jaknama, lancima, katancima, nitnama, bljuvanjem vatre, razbijanjem pojačala, mrtvačkim glavama i sl. Izgledaju... ali vrisak..! treba videti barnija i hukija kako na kraju šutiraju pojačala, lome gitare i sl... jezivo..:))) Imam ovaj maxi (verzija od nekih 8 minuta) single (sa druge strane je dub verzija iste stvari, verziju CD maxi single (sa remixom confusion i temptation :) dok je na The Best Of... single verzija od nekih 3 ipo minuta... World In Motion - izlet New Order u fudbalske vode :) 1990. na svetskom prvenstvu u fudbalu u Italiji, to je bila zvanična himna navijača Engleske... imam ovaj CD maxi single sa 4 verzije/mixa stvari, i izdat je pod imenon ENGLAND NEW ORDER, a u pesmi peva skoro ceo engleski fudbalski tim..:)) Peter Beardsley, John Barnes, Paul Gascoigne, Steve McMahon, Chris Waddle, Des Walker... Singing for England!! IN - GERR - LAND..!! Legendarni rap John Barnes -a u sredini, kao i rečenica "My name is John Barnes, what's yours..?" iz the b-side mix-a. Nezaobilazno... Spot je takođe sjajan :) Ruined in a Day - bez neke fancy priče iza nje, pesma je lagana, dosta jakog teksta, i mogla je biti potpisana i od JD, atmosfera Closer, ali poslužiću se rečima velikog Go-Shaku-Bo-Do sledbenika: "jebo te, Višnjiću, budimo iskreni, ali ovo je 6 puta bolje od Joy Division..." :) Preterivanje naravno, ali je u svakom slučaju puno zrelije. Ne volim citate, ali je pravi trenutak da upotrebim jedan: "Great bands are rare enough. Great spin-offs of great bands are scarcer still. The Foo Fighters are one really worth celebrating". (NME, 1.7.1995.) I tako, traka sa debijem Dejva Grola i ekipe, ušla je tiho u moj kasetdek, i već danima ne izlazi odatle. žovek koji je godinama neumorno stvarao podlogu za Kobejnove bezuspešne pokušaje autoegzorcizma, nakon godinu dana traumatičnih za sve koji nisu gledali belo niti rezignirano odmahivali rukom na pominjanje reči Nirvana, skupio je i hrabrost i snagu i napravio album koji je nemoguće čuti dva puta i potom ne obožavati. Uz majstorski odmeren kompromis između nasleđa velikog benda i verovanja u sopstveni talenat, Dejv se predstavio kao odličan autor i pevač i sasvim upotrebljiv gitarista, napravivši i snimivši 12 izuzetnih pesama. Za razliku od Kurtovog introvertnog autodestruktivnog nihilizma, Dejv o istim stvarima govori na mnogo ekstrovertniji i, pomalo paradoksalno, optimističan način. Iskreno nasmejane face članova benda na unutrašnjem omotu najbolje govore o tome. Dok se slušanjem Nirvane često rizikuje i mučnina u želudcu, pesme Foo Fighters izazivaju pozitivno euforično raspoloženje, slično onom koje umeju da proizvedu britanske im kolege poznate pod imenom Oasis. Grol se dokazuje i kao autor sa jasnim osećajem za melodiju, što najbolje dokazuje činjenica da je, slušajući album, teško razlučiti granicu između balade i krljanja. Kao primer ovog drugog izdvaja se Weenie Beenie koja kao da je pobegla sa In Utero kao i daleko melodičnije I'll Stick Around, dok u Big Me, Floaty (koja je, zajedno sa Alone+Easy Target nastala za vreme Nevermind turneje), a posebno u fenomenalnoj For All The Cows, Grol pokazuje da je pravi majstor za pravljenje onoga što bi se uslovno moglo nazvati grunge-baladom. Sindrom bubnjar_koji_se_dohvatio_gitare_i_mikrofona neizbežno asocira na Grant Harta, pri čemu pesma Oh, George zvuči kao skidanje kape ovom čoveku koji je ostao najbolje čuvana tajna novijeg američkog rokenrola. Fascinacija Beatlesima kad su bendovi iz Sijetla u pitanju je već legendarna, a na ovom albumu se takođe pronalazi u ogromnim količinama, pa je teško reći da je čista slučajnost to što je brtitanski distributer ovog albuma ni manje ni više nego Parlophone. Ostajući na nezavisnoj etiketi ali pod kontrolom moćnog koncerna Capitol, Foo Fighters nastavljaju tamo gde je Nirvana stala. Jedan od kandidata za album godine. Vlada

"We learned more from a three minute record than we ever learned in school" (B. Springsteen, No Surrender, album Born In The USA, 1984) Dva dinosaurusa u fazi predigre i sa sombrerosima na glavama mogu valjda samo The Ramones da stave na omot albuma. Isto tako, valjda samo Ramones mogu da obrade pesmu Tom Waitsa i da ona zvuči kao da je pisana specijalno za njih (kad su, uostalom, oni nešto obradili a da nije zvučalo upravo tako?). Valjda samo The Ramones mogu da nakon 20 godina zvuče potpuno isto, u pozitivnom smislu, što će reći da isporučuju isto onoliko uzbuđenja i energije kao i pre tih čuvenih 20 godina. Samo Ramones mogu debelo da pregaze četrdesetu i istovremeno oduvaju i najnapaljenije korovce u žestini žive svirke (čuti Loco Live od pre tri godine). A Ramones imaju novi album, zove se Adios Amigos. Po očekivanju, nastavljaju tamo gde su stali sa izvanrednim Mondo Bizzaro. 13 brzih, kratkih, energijom i emocijama nabijenih pesama, od kojih je jedna - "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" već pomenuta obrada Toma Waitsa (verovatno i najveći hit sa ovog albuma). U četiri pesme vokale je preuzeo basista C.J i to je uradio sjajno. Tu je i još jedna u nizu njihovih legendarnih balada - She Talks To Rainbows. I još mnogo toga... Bez mnogo priče, Adios Amigos je još jedna od disertacija na temu "The Ramones - najveći rokenrol bend svih vremena". Neko je rekao Rolling Stones? Skrenuo bih svima pažnju na album grupe Radiohead "The Bends". Koliko sam uspeo da saznam sa omota bugarskog pirata, izašao je ove godine. Album je odličan, posebno obratiti pažnju na "High And Dry" i "Street Spirit (Fade Out)". Sve pohvale i Smashing Pumpkinsima za album "Siamese Dream" (1993, I guess), sa nezaboravnima "Disarm" i "Today".

Samo za <*> Imam utisak da je intenzitet izlaženja novih albuma Pearl Jama neobično Samo jedna ispravka. "Mirror Ball" je Neil Youngov album, a Pearl Jam su tu u funkciji pratećeg benda. Kao što se za Sleeps With Angles (i ranije albume) ne može reći da su albumi Crazy Horsa. Ovo napominjem zbog toga što bi album isto (ne mislim bukvalno) zvučao da su umesto Pearl Jam svirali Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains ili neka druga grunge grupa. Hoću da kažem da je tu ključna ličnost Young, a ne PJ. Da me neko ne razume pogrešno Pearl Jam slušam od prvog albuma i mislim da su super, ali mora da se zna ko je Tata. Milica
