Naime, kako god postavio parametre u programu ( TERM4.0, ali probao sam i
u NCOM-u ) kada na orešci da neko pitanje na koje treba da se odgovori
pritiskom tastera (D/N) na ekranu mi izlete brljotine i najčešće se sve
zablokira ( ne reaguje na komande ) mada se desi da posle brlja
nastavi da izlazi normalan tekst.
Drugar mi je rekao da je i on imao slične probleme sa OREŠKOM, ali je
on odustao od pokušaja, a SYSOP mi kaže da se dosta AMIGAša žalilo
na isti problem.

I meni se dešavaju iste stvari. Pri ispisu teksta (naročito kod
postavljanja pitanja i on-line čitanju poruka) BBS izbacuje pakete smeća.
Sve je počelo onog dana kada je Oreska prešla (prešao? :) na 14400 modem.
Izgleda da nema spasa. :(

Koliko sam ja razumeo na PC šklopocijama, problem nije do kontrolera
toliko koliko je do ograničenja DOS-a i cela fora je u tome da se
HD uz pomoć silnih specijlanih drajvera MS-DOSu (i naslednicima) predstavi
lažno (zaje*e DOS) i jer sam DOS ima neka ograničenja po pitanju broja
traka i sektora a tog ograničenja kod Amige naravno NEMA.
BTW, skoro sam pogledao konfiguraciju PC u firmi i samo što nisam
'puko' od smeha kada sam video da mu drajveri za sve i svašta već u
DOSu pojedu skoro 4MB rama :)))))))
P.S. Da li nekoga interesuje JK-SCSI kontroler za A500 (podržava samo
hardove do 80MB) bez HDD (dao bi ga skoro džabe, jer više nemam
ni A500 a i hard koji se tu nalazio /Seagate SN-138/ odavno nije živ)
Nisam ga skoro probao, ali je radio pre godinu dana (probao sam sa HDD
od 250 MB i priznavao je samo onih 80MB koliki mu je limit, ali je radio OK)

Kako da u GP-Fax programu nateram modem da mi primi fax kada želim
sa Voice da pređem na FAX. Meni ne ferma da uključi modem bez RING signala :(

Takođe, ne znam kako da 'čisto' ja pošaljem FAX (nešto sam smuvao)
Drugo pitanjce je kako da u toku veze ako želim da neki parametar proverim
pređem iz komandnog u data režim (znam kako se prelazi u komandni, ali
ne umem da ga vratim u data). Takođe me to interesuje kako bi mogao
da u toku voice razgovora pređem u Modemsku vezu ????

Koliko ja znam, jedino pomoću trikova :) Napravi jedan 'dummy' entry
u imeniku, i u polje za tel. broj stavi samo jmo jednu jedinicu (1). Kad
hoćeš nekome da pošalješ faks dok ste na voice vezi, samo mu kažeš da ti
pusti fax signal i izabereš iz GPFax-a slanje na taj 'dummy'. On će
okrenuti tu jedinicu i čim dobije signal, počeće sa slanjem faksa.
Hmmm, pade mi sad još jedna stvar na pamet... Vredi pokušati da se
umesto jedinice stavi zarez (,) jer ako on zove sa ATD... (što
najverovatnije jeste stvar), onda bi trebao da napravi pauzu od pola
sekunde i počne sa slanjem faksa (zarez označava pauzu).
Što se prvog dela pitanja tiče (ručno primanje faksova), nisam
siguran kako to ide (nisam stigao da probam, pišem ovo on-line), ali
čini mi se da bi trebalo da može. Probaću, pa ću javiti :)

Sa '+++' (tri plusa) se prelazi u komandni, a sa ATO se vraća u data

Nece. Modem je neki nemacki, kopija, ima AT&T cipove. Sve radi savrseno, osim
sto na ATA i ATD nece da "digne slusalicu". Znaci nemogu da ga nateram da na
komandu ATA ansveruje. Moze da se javi samo preko ATS0=n, a posto ni /X ni Cnet
ne rade na tom principu, nece da se jave (oni broje RING-ove pa posalju ATA).
Jedino MAX's BBS radi, ali on ima izvesna ogranicenja pa tako.. (neradi ni
BaudBandit BBS, uzgred) :)
Cnet je 3.03, nije 3.05, nazalost.. :(

Nema na čemu :) GPFax sam instalirao danas, i ne vidim u čemu je problem - za
primanje faksova dovoljno je kliknuti na "Receive Fax", dok za direktno slanje
pomaže ona fora sa jedinicom umesto tel. broja (ne prima se na zarez i slične
fore :( )

To je najbolje da pitas Sazalakazu-a, jer su oni jedno vreme drzali BBS
pisan u NCOMM script-u. Oni inace imaju UNDERGROUND BBS, pa im se javi :)

Dakle stvari stoje ovako.. Najzad sam nasao BBS program koji radi sa mojim
modemom, DayDream BBS.. pa mozete ocekivati jos jedan Amiga board :) Inace
program je dosta dobar /X klon, ali je u necemu bolji, u necemu losiji itd. U
svakom slucaju radi OK, tj. upotrebljiv je. A ima i sve sto je potrebno,
prepoznaje file_id.diz i sl. Narocito bi napomenuo da ima BlueWave skidanje
poste koje lepo radi, a ima i FIDO, pa ako uspem da ga namestim, bice i u mrezi
SET.NET ili neka druga :)
E, sad jedina stvar sto nevalja, je sto je neregistrovan pa prilikom
logovanja ceka oko 5-15 sec, kako kad.. al valjda to nece biti problem, ja
drugi BBS nemam, tj. nece da radi, vec sam rekao.
Dakle, cim ga sredim malo, mogu da se jave dobrovoljci da ga malo isprobaju :)
Ex, da.. fali mu dd tj. skidanje allfiles, to cu ja da napisem door u arexx-u..
tj. bar cu da pokusam, ako ne uspem, traze se dobrovoljci da to urade :) nebi
trebalo da bude tesko.. Uh..

Imam ja, i to verziju 3.05. Zanimljivo je da se puna verzija istog
može naći na Aminet 4 CD-u, ali je za nju potreban i jedan fal
(bbslicence) koji se plaća, i koji se dobija od autora softvera. Bez
njega, rad programa je ograničen na 7 dana, plus postoji pauza od 30-ak
sekundi pre startovanja programa. Takođe, na istom CD-u postoji i neka
demo verzija, ali nju nisam probao.
Probaću da ga pošaljem prvom prilikom, a za licencu ćeš morati da se
snađeš. Btw, ova verzija NE PRAVI probleme na koje sam se žalio kod
verzije 3.04 (nemogućnost otvaranja konferencije/direktorijuma) :) Još
samo da nađemo uputstvo...

Jel ti upaljen rts/cts? Imao sam slican problem sa jednim Aceex

Dakle ovo je stvarno strašno. Za nedelju dana, jedva 30 poruka u
konferenciji, a od toga su preko pola moje :( Da li još iko prati ovu
konferenciju? Zanima li nekoga nešto u vezi Amige? Jedva troje-četvoro
ljudi se redovnije oglašava u konferenciji, par ljudi za koje znam da bi
bili aktivniji imaju problema sa telefonskim vezama, šta je sa ostalima?
Koliko vidim, i na domaćim Amiga boardovima je prilična stagnacija
novog softvera što se tiče (diskusija nikad nije ni bilo na ozbiljnijem
nivou ;) :( ), na par "elitnih" bordova je stigla ogromna količina
kvalitetnog softvera, ali to je izgleda rezervisano za samu ""elitu"" (_dva
puta_ pod znacima navoda :( ) i braću pirate, koji to naplaćuju po dobro
nam poznatim cenama (bez obzira što je većina tog softvera PD/SW :( ).
Elem, što ja sve ovo pišem, pa još u temu "komunikacije"? Ovih dana
obećavah da ću poslati neki softver za BBS-ove (C-Net 3.05, Day Dream, Max
1.5) i Internet (AmiTCP, Amiga Mosaic, Mlink, i sl, sa detaljnijim
uputstvima za sve to), pa me čisto interesuje, zanima li to ikoga? Da li to
ikome treba, ili ću samo protraćiti svoje vreme... Oglasite se malo, na
bilo koji način, da znam da nisam pogrešio pto sam se prihvatio ovog posla
i što se jop uvek držim Amige :)

Nadam se da uskoro 'proraditi' Internet (barem nekoliko ljudi da dobije

celoj evropi i svuda sam se koristio Silikončetom, da bi moju
sesiju završio sa gomilom SZ komandi :))))
Možeš li dati neki NFO o tome kad i gde to treba (i kako upotrebiti)
koristiti na samoj AMIGI ???
(BTW, najlepše što sam skinuo je par muzičkih stvarčica, ako nekoga
zanima FAQ-Kate Bush i ENYA, fajl sa svim mogućim podatcima o VANGELISU
(sa sve slikicom i potpisom ;) ) Mogu to da šiljnem u razno ili CO.Muzika)

U najkraćem: da. ;)) Za sve o tome ipak ćete morati malo da sačekate
:) Ipak, za one najnestrpljivije: potrebni su vam nalog na nekoj mašini
koja ima izlaz na Internet (na BU - Osmeh, Galeb, Afrodita...); neki WWW
browser (za Amigu - npr. Amiga Mosaic; on, kao i skoro svi ostali
zahteva i MUI); i mrežni softver (AmiTCP, AS225), od koga vam je slaba
vajda jer nemate PPP/SLIP nalog, pa će zato poslužiti MLink :)
Dakle: instalirate MUI (verzija 2.3 bi morala da postoji i na
Sezamu, osim ako nije ostala u staroj konf. :( ), zatim Amiga Mosaic
(ili neki drugi browser). Instalirate i sve što se iz MLinka odnosi na
Amigu, pozovete mašinu na kojoj imate nalog (mora biti Unix),
uploadujete fajl mlink.tar.gz (otkucate 'rz mlink.tar.gz', a zatim
startujete ZModem upload) i raspakujete ga ('gzip -d mlink.tar.gz', 'tar
-xvf mlink.tar').
Trebalo bi da dobijete direktorijum mlink. U njemu se nalazi sors
ovog programa. Potrebno je kompajlirati ga ('cd mlink'; 'sh buildmlink')
i ako sve prođe kako treba, dobićete program mlink (Upozorenje: nikako
mi nije uspelo da ga iskompajliram od SCO Unixom, tj. na mašini fon.fon;
na osmehu - SunOS i galebu - Linux je prošlo bez problema). Njega
iskopirate u svoj home direktorijum ('cp mlink ~/', ako se ne varam), a
zatim sve ostalo pobrišete ('rm *'). Vratite se u svoj home dir ('cd'),
a onda konfigurišete sve što treba preko tooltype-ova u ikoni MLinka (na
Amigi, naravno). U uputstvu od MLinka je prilično lepo objašnjeno šta
čemu služi, ali ono osnovno (što je kod mene podešeno, i radi bez
problema): stavite tooltype-ove HISPEED, BAUD=57600 (ili na koliko već
terate serial.device), CPS=1500 (nije naročito bitno), CTSRTS, i (važno)
UNIXSTARTUP="~/mlink".
Kad ste sve ovo sredili, startujete mlink (pod uslovom da ste na
vezi!) i kad dobijete poruku da je mlink konekcija uspostavljena,
startujete Mosaic. Tu kliknete na 'Open', unesete adresu (URL) site-a
ili home page-a koji želite da pogledate, i vozite :) Od domaćih
site-ova probajte www.etf.bg.ac.yu, ili www.fon.bg.ac.yu. Od stranih -
paaa, imate samo oko sedam miliona Web stranica na raspolaganju :)) Za
početak, probajte www.yahoo.com, koji daje pregled najzanimljivijih
site-ova, pa još razvrstan po kategorijama... Trenutno su kod nas
naročito popularni www.playboy.com i www.nba.com :) U onom Amiga Main
Internet List-u bi trebalo da imate i neke zanimljive Amiga site-ove
(home page Amiga Tech.-a je na www.amiga.de).
Za sada toliko, kukajte ako bude probleme (a moguće da će ih biti -
ovo sve pišem 'iz glave', Osmeh je nemoguće dobiti), i - srećno vam
surfovanje ;)

Multilink (or Mlink) is a package which simulates a direct
connection to the internet. If you have an account on a UNIX machine
connected to the internet, you can run Multilink on the UNIX machine and
your Amiga, and Multilink will allow you to use all those wonderful
Amiga networking applications such as Grapevine, DaFTP, telnet and
Amosaic without having to have a real SLIP or PPP connection. Multilink
emulates both AS225 and Amitcp, so you do not need to run either of these
protocol stacks to use multilink.
Multilink requires at least AmigaDOS 2.1 and an account on a UNIX
host connected to the Internet.

Najjednostavnije - pomoću nekog mail programa. Probaj elm ili pine
(elm je rasprostranjeniji, ali je pine navodno bolji i jednostavniji).
Konkretno, za slanje iz elm-a otkucaš 'm' (malo), zatim uneseš ime
primaoca (xxxx@compulink.gr), subject poruke (obavezno), i onda, u
editoru otkucaš poruku (možeš je otkucati i ranije, u svom editoru, pa
onda je poslati ASCII-Uploadom). Ako ti je na Osmehu postavljen editor
joe, onda poruku završavaš sa CTRL-K X, a help dobijaš sa CTRL-K H (ako
se ne varam) :) Nakon toga elm te pita da li si siguran da hoćeš da
pošalješ poruku, i to je to :)
Drugi, jednostavniji (?!) način je da poruku pripremiš off-line,
zatim je pošalješ ZModemom na Osmeh (kucaš "rz ime_fajla", a zatim
startuješ UL), a onda u komandnoj liniji otkucaš:
mail xxxx@compulink.gr < ime_fajla
("<" i ">", kao i na Amigi, označavaju redirekciju). Ipak, preporučujem
ti da počneš da se navikavaš na neki od mail programa, jer ih je
neuporedivo jednostavnije koristiti nego pomenuti "mail".
Uzgred, kad po logovanju dobiješ poruku "You have mail", uđi u elm.
Trebalo bi da u gornjem delu ekrana vidiš spisak pristiglig poruka. Za
čitanje, izabereš neku kursorom i pritisneš Enter. Detaljan help za elm
možeš dobiti ako uneseš znak "?".

Meni je danas posle iste takve poruke lepo radio TELNET na strane
sisteme, ali FTP, kao što i piše - NIJE :((
BTW, WWW bi trajno zabranio na BU, do god ima svega 14 linija, jer onih
par dana nije bilo teoretske šanse da se ubode ETF (o Osmehu i da ne
pričamo) a sada čak i Osmeh mogu da dobijem.
A vidim i na Sezamu da su ljudi razne Gluposti skidali sa INT-a koristeći
WWW servise :(
BTW, ako nekoga interesuje kako se traži neki fajl na INTERNETU
(pod uslovom da znate barem neku ključnu reč u imenu fala) šaljem
HELP fajl sa ARCHIE.FUNET.FI servera.
Servis radi i preko E-MAIL-a, a može i TELNET-om da se stigne.

Zato što (najverovatnije) nisi izašao iz komunikacionog programa iz
kojeg si uspostavio vezu. U principu, postoje dva rešenja za ovaj
problem. Prvo je, da proglasiš serial.device za 'shared', što znači da
mogu da joj pristupaju dva (ili više) programa istovremeno. Međutim, ovo
ti _ne preporučujem_ jer zna da pravi probleme, brzina je nešto manja, a
nisam siguran ni da MLink ovo podržava.
Bolje rešenje je da kažeš modemu da ignoriše stanje DTR linije. Ovo
ćeš uraditi tako što u init strign modema staviš jedno &D0, ili još
bolje modemu zadaš komandu 'AT&D0', a zatim ovo usnimiš u NVRAM modema
komandom AT&W.
Ovim dobijaš da se veza ne prekida kada izađeš iz komunikacionog
programa ili kad resetuješ mašinu, ali će zato hangup malo duže da traje
(ako te zanima, mogu objasniti i zašto :)

Ovo u principu nije mnogo bitno, ali ja sam moj Serial prefs pečovao
tako da mi maksimum bude na brzini koja mi je podešena u svim
komunikacionim programima - 57600 :) Recept je relativno jednostavan:
zapišete sve brzine koje podržava ovaj program, pretvorite ih u
heksadecimalni oblik, učitate ga u neki hex editor, i zamenite brzine
onima koje vama odgovaraju :) Kod mene stoji na 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600,
19200, 31500, 38400 i 57600. Čini mi se da je maksimalna moguća vrednost
78-hiljada-i-nešto, ili čak 115K...

Nemoj uopšte da se brineš, ništa strašno nije u pitanju :) Radi se o
tome da ZModem protokol ima ugrađenu detekciju grešaka, pa kad ustanovi da
je neki paket pogrešno poslat, on ga ponovo pošalje. Inače, dešava se
najčešće zbog problema sa kvalitetom veze.
Znači, ako ti sve stigne kako treba, bez obzira na broj resend-ova
ili errora koje ti prijavi, onda je sve OK. Međutim, ako nikako ne uspevaš
da pošalješ nešto, to je onda veći problem...

FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is a method for
transferring files from one computer to another, if they are connected
to each other via a TCP/IP network. Using an FTP Client, you may
connect to a remote computer on the internet and upload or download
files. You may have an account on a remote FTP site, but more
commonly, FTP is used with an "anonymous" connection, meaning that you
dont need an account to log on to the site and download files. Several
well known FTP sites are included with AmFTP for your use. You will

I was tired of snapping all those http addresses from docs/msgs and then
insert them in the hotlist by hand using a text editor. So I created
GetHTTP to do all this for me.
GetHTTP.rexx is an Arexx script that tries to find HTTP addresses in any
kind of file (binary or text) which you can then save to your AMosaic
hotlist.
The hotlist can be that of Amosaic 1.4b+ (internal hotlist) or that of
AMHotlist (by Berend Ozceri).

-- Script to download HTML systems across the network --
GetURL.rexx is an ARexx script which will download World-Wide Web pages.
With a simple command line it will download a specific page, and with
more complex command lines it will be able to download specific sets of
documents.
The intention was to create a tool that allowed local caching of important
web pages and a flexible way of specifying what pages are important. The
script has no GUI as of yet but may have at some stage in the future.
If you have ever tried to download and save to disc a 200 page document
using Mosaic, then you know what this script is for. Mosaic will only
let you load a page, then load it to disc, then load another page etc.
This is a very frustrating process. GetURL automates this process and
will run in batch mode without user intervention.
The major features of GetURL.rexx are as follows:
* doesn't require AMosaic, so you can be browsing something else
with AMosaic whilst this is running
* save pages to your hard disc so that they can be read offline and
you can also give them to friends on a floppy disc. Who knows,
you may even be able to sell discs containing web pages :-)
* flexible set of command line switches that allow you to restrict the
type of pages that it downloads
* ability to specify files for the lists of URLs that it keeps so
that any search for pages can be stopped and restarted at a later
date. i.e. you could run GetURL for 2 hours a day whilst you are
online and gradually download everything in the entire universe
and it won't repeat itself.
* includes the ability to download itself when there are new versions.
* will use a proxy if you have access to one, in order to both speed up
access to pages and also to reduce network load.
* will download binary files (*.gif, *.lha) as easily as text and html
files.

Httpproxy is a proxy that caches incomming data for http requests. This can
speed up loading of a page enormously, once you visited it. If you don't
know what a proxy is, read the 'Beginners Guide' section of the provided
guide file.
If you want to upgrade from a older version read the "What's New?" section
inside the guide file.
There are some ARexx-scripts around that provide the same functionality,
but these alter the documents and don't provide additional features
httpproxy has.
It is possible to configure httpproxy in a way that you are able to browse
in offline mode, too (assuming you are connected to the internet by modem),
at least through the pages you already visited. Then you are able to queue
requests and let httpproxy send them automatically next time when you are
online.
Httpproxy is Emailware - be sure to read the License section of the
provided guide file.
It is still beta, but as it seems to run stable and I couldn't find another
bug for a couple of days I decided to make this beta version public.

IPDial is a program to establish a SLIP, CSLIP or PPP connection to an ISP
(Internet service provider). This is done using a script file which consists
of commands like "SEND ATZ" or "WAIT CONNECT". After the connection is
established, IPDial usually logs in with your user account and activates
CLIP/PPP on the remote machine. When all this is successfully done, IPDial
exits and lets SLIP/PPP take over the modem connection.
When you want to disconnect, you can also use IPDial to make to modem
physically hang up the line after SLIP/PPP has terminated.
Furthermore, IPDial has a built-in terminal mode which uses the current
shell window. If something fails while it is trying to establish a
connection you can just press Ctrl-F to enter the terminal mode and log in
manually.

if something went wrong or enter a secret password without permanently

This is just a little gizmo to work with the Demon AmiTCP
installation. It possibly won't cope with any other AmiTCP setup but
you can try ( if you are using it successfully with any other
provider's software, or need some help to do so, please get in
contact). To start with it needs a script called "startnet" in
Amitcp:bin/. You can set the tooltypes to reflect the programs you
want to use for linking, ftp, mail, news, etc.
It was written using a mixture of CanDo 2.0 and 3.0 (mostly 3.0 now)
and requires the supplied cando.library (in libs:).
Unfortunately, any errors in location or setup just result in the
program not running at all, with no explanation for what went wrong.
Make sure that you have Rexxc in your path, or copy the "RX" program
from Rexxc into C:.

Bez brige. Stvar je u tome da je program _nefunkcionalan_ (ili delimično
funkcionalan) bez ključa (keyfile-a) koji se kupuje od autora. Slična je
stvar i sa nekim drugim programima iz direktorijuma (LHa 1.50r, CNet/3...)
Takođe, zamolio bih vas da mi skrenete pažnju ako se desi da se u
konferenciji nađe neki program kojem tu nije mesto (komercijalni, krekovan,
zaražen virusom...).

Juče je na Aminet upload-ovana prva public verzija novog WWW browsera
za Amigu o kojem se priča već mjesecima. Pogađete, riječ je o AWeb-u!
Naravno, ja sam bio na licu mjesta i potrudio se da i našim Web fanovima
omogućim da vide kako izgleda to čudo. U nastavku poruku ide .readme

INTRODUCTION
------------
AWeb is a totally new World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer.
It offers the following features:
o AWeb doesn't use Magical User Interface (MUI). It uses BOOPSI classes
instead, which results in less memory usage and increased speed. The
BOOPSI classes are partially custom designed for AWeb, and partially
from the ClassAct kit.
o AWeb can use AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225 or AS-225 as its TCP stack. Without
TCP stack running, you can still view local files.
o AWeb uses extensive internal multitasking, which leads to total
asynchroneous and parallel network access. Images are starting to load
while the document is still loading. It is possible to follow a link
while the previous document is still loading. A separate network status
window shows all pending network and local file accesses. All network
accesses can be interrupted immediately.
o The HTML-2 standard is fully supported, including forms. For buggy
pages not conforming to the standard, AWeb offers a compatibility mode.
o AWeb supports the use of proxies for HTTP, FTP, Gopher and Telnet.
Because some proxies can't handle forms or other special cases, the use
of proxies can be temporarily disabled from the menu.
o The HTTP and Gopher protocols are supported internally. By using
external programs, FTP and Mailto can be used too. HTTP user
authorization is supported.
o AWeb lets you load all images, delay all image loading, or load only
clickable maps and delay other images. For delayed images, the ALT text
is taken into account. Transparent GIFs are supported. The 24-bit picture
datatype (picturedtV43) is supported.
o To improve network speed, host names and network addresses are cached
so addresses are looked up only once during a session.
o AWeb can open it's windows on the default public screen, on a named
public screen or open its own screen.
o In extension to its own hotlist, AWeb can read the hotlists of
AMosaic and IBrowse.
o An advanced settings requester is integrated in the program.
o AWeb has an ARexx interface, and a unique and powerful shell command
interface.
REQUIREMENTS

o At least 2MB of memory, preferably more
o Either AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225 or AS-225 if you want to access the Internet

To install AWeb, just double-click the Install icon.
If you want to try AWeb before a permanent installation, make sure to
double-click the "MakeAssign" icon first. It makes the necessary assigns
that AWeb needs to find the ClassAct classes.

There have been a lot of rumours about a new WWW browser for the Amiga
lately.
I can tell you that those rumours are true. I am currently working on
it. And I would like to be able to keep working on it, so please do
not overload me with e-mails on how to become a beta-tester or how to
register. You cannot register to AWeb at the moment, and I don't need
more beta-testers. I hope to release the first public beta on Aminet
somewhere in february or march. That version will be freeware
because it will only support HTML-2 (no tables etc), and I would
like to spend my time on further development, not on bookkeeping of
shareware fees and sending out key files.
Future versions of AWeb supporting HTML-3 will be shareware. I haven't
decided yet how much the shareware fee will be.

Where can I get AWeb?
You can get a legal copy of the latest version only if you are a
subscriber to the bimonthly Dutch Amiga Magazine and have access to

The same day I'll upload AWeb to Aminet, I'll post an announcement in

Unfortunately an alpha-version of Aweb, a new World Wide Web
browser, has been heavily spread through Internet and several
bulletin board systems. This resulted in a huge amount of Email
from illegal users. This illegal use is strongly rejected. Since
the author prefers spending his precious time on further
developing AWeb instead of answering Email, this FAQ should answer
the most common questions.
* What is AWeb ?
AWeb is a new World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer. AWeb
is completely designed and developed by Yvon Rozijn. The current
version has among other things the following features :

possible to follow a link while the previous document is

+ new Anonymous browsing. Normally, if you follow a hyperlink,
AWeb sends the address of the page that link appeared on to
the server. This allows servers to generate lists of
back-links for interest, logging, optimized caching, tracing
obsolete or mistyped links etc. Because the source of a link
may be private information, or may reveal an otherwise
private information source, AWeb allows you to disable this
feature.
+ new Execute shell commands. AWeb offers a unique and powerful
facility to execute Amiga DOS Shell commands from a page,
just by clicking on a hotlink or by submitting a form. With
some effort, you can create complex applications using AWeb
as the user interface, starting scripts that dynamically
compose new documents that are loaded into AWeb via ARexx
etc. Although this feature is very useful, it could also be
very dangerous. Therefore this feature works only from local
pages.
All features mentioned here are actually implemented. This is not
some kind of to-do-list.
* What do I need to run AWeb ?
Basically the only constraint is that you need to run OS3.x in
order to take full advantage of AWeb, because AWeb makes use of
datatypes.
* new How fast is AWeb ? new
AWeb is fast. Beta-testers report AWeb to be much faster than
IBrowse in side by side tests. Loading the same page, with IBrowse
starting first, AWeb loads and displays the page - and can go back
- before IBrowse gets the page displayed. AWeb seems to be faster
than ALynx, too.
* Where can I get AWeb ?
You can get a legal copy of the latest alpha version only if you
are a subscriber to the bimonthly Dutch Amiga Magazine and have
access to their BBS. All copies obtained in another way are
illegal copies and probably outdated. Currently, the newest
beta-release requires a personal keyfile.
* Can I become a beta-tester ?
No, currently there are enough beta-testers.
* When will AWeb be available to the public ?
Probably somewhere in March a registerable freeware version of
AWeb will be put on Aminet. You do not have to pay to use it, but
if you register you get a more advanced version. An announcement
will be posted in comp.sys.amiga.networking and
comp.sys.amiga.misc. Of course this page will provide all
information regarding the release-version.
* How about future versions of AWeb ?
The freeware version will support HTML-2. Future versions will
also support HTML-3 and will have a lot of advanced features, like
client pull, server push and a disk-based document and image
cache. These future versions will be shareware. The shareware-fee
is yet unknown.
* How do I contact the AWeb author ?
At this stage Yvon Rozijn prefers to work on AWeb instead of
answering huge amounts of Email. Legal users know how to contact
him. For others it is not yet possible to get in contact.
* Can I report suggestions to improve AWeb ?
If you are using a legal copy, yes. Otherwise, not yet. If you are
a legal user and have suggestions or comments regarding AWeb, you

dobiti ili preko Sezama, ili u ličnom kontaktu sa voljenim vam moderatorom

Ja sam ga već detaljno testirao, i to na pravom Internetu. Zezao sam se
dugo sa konfiguracijom fontova; ona mala mi nije odgovarala jer su
osnovna slova bila presitna, a velika je učitavala CGTimes što je
traaajalo. Na kraju sam napravio kompromis u vidu kombinacije tih dviju
konfiguracija i sad sve izgleda sasvim zadovoljavajuće.
Uglavnom, program je prilično brz, ali ne i onako stabilan kako se
navodi. Dosta često puca bez razloga, postoje baš i neke karakteristične
situacije u kojima blokira. Našao sam i jedan vrlo ozbiljan bag za koji
ne znam u kojim se tačno uslovima ispoljava. Naime, prostor u prozoru u
kojem se prikazuje prezentacija odjednom se strašno proširi i stvori se
ogromna praznina između početka i prvog reda teksta. Prilično neprijatna
stvar, pogotovo što nisam našao način da je uklonim a da ne izađem iz
programa.
Najnaprednija opcija u odnosu na alfa i beta verzije je mogućnost
podešavanja keša. U uputstvu je detaljno objašnjeno kako taj keš
funkcioniše; princip rada je potpuno različit za dokumente i za slike.
Uglavnom, dobro je malo proučiti taj dio da bi se raspodjela memorije
uradila što optimalnije i da bi sistem što manje padao zbog nedostatka
RAM-a (ovo sve naravno važi samo za one koji koriste standardne Amige
1200 sa 2 Mb CHIP RAM-a).
Jedna od stvari koja mi strašno nedostaje u ovoj neregistrovanoj verziji,
a za koju stvarno ne vidim razlog zbog čega je izbačena, je nemogućnost
snimanja dokumenata u običan ASCII format. Po mom mišljenju, to nije
nikakva "outstanding" opcija da bi trebala da se izbacuje iz ovakve
verzije.
Iskreno se nadam da će ključ za registaciju programa što prije da se
pojavi u našim krajevima, pogotovo što će on, bar prema riječima autora,
biti važeći i za naredne verzije. ;) Ako bi neko slučajno došao u kontakt
s njim, zna gdje može da me nađe. ;)

da nabavim mi izgleda neće biti dovoljna. :( :)

Tekuća osnovna verzija baze (9. februar) zajedno sa svim update-ovima do
29. marta ove godine ima oko 36 megabajta (LhA arhiva). Za integralnu
instalaciju osnovne verzije potrebno je oko 150 Mb slobodnog prostora na
disku (sa update-ovima pretpostavljam negdje blizu 200!).
Ovo ti govori neko ko se za projekat filmske baze Interneta interesuje
već prilično dugo. Ispašće neskromno, ali nema veze :), mogu da se kladim
da u ovoj zemlji ne postoji osoba koja je više vremena posvetila tome i
koja je uložila više truda u nabavku i nadogradnju te baze, od one čije
redove teksta upravo čitaš. :)

Vidim da još niko nije poslao AMosaic 2.0. U arhivi koju sam ja imao bio
je samo izvršni fajl i mislio sam da nije kompletna. Sad kad sam vidio da
je isti slučaj i sa originalnom arhivom preuzetom sa AMosaic FTP-a,
šaljem vam je. Ono što možete, iskoristite iz verzija 1.2 i 1.4beta (meni
sa preferences fajlom iz verzije 1.2 radi bez problema). Čisto da znate,
uskoro se očekuje i AMosaic 3.0; slike iz programa se već uveliko mogu
naći na Internetu.

REMEMBER to specify full pathnames. AMosaic does _not_, repeat
_not_, inherit the Workbench path on startup. This applies to
Sendmail, Editor, Telnet, Rlogin, and everything in your mailcap
file.

NOTE: AMosaic 2.0prelease1 fixed a bug with setting up REXX
menu items, and incorporated most of the AS225 fixes/enhancements
from AMosaic-AS225 beta5. It was also the first AmiTCP version to
be compiled with optimization.
This is the comment from beta5 of AMosaic 1.4 for AS225 (14.1663).
It has the following differences from the AmiTCP beta4 version:
1) Mailto: is supported.
Mailto: requires that a mail system is already installed. AMosaic
does not do the protocol handling internal to itself. It calls
an external editor given a filename. The editor must _NOT_ detach
itself from the provided CLI.
If you've installed the mailto: script recently posted to the mailing
list, I've got no idea what happens.
If the user changes text, AMosaic then calls an external mailer,
using the following format:

IT *MUST*, REPEAT *MUST* end in a '/' or a ':'.
You may optionally set
Mosaic/TempDir
as an environment variable. If set, it overrides Mosaic/Prefs. It
also must end in a '/' for a ':'.
For other temporary files, set the environment variable
HOME
to another temporary directory. If Mosaic/Tempdir is not set, either

Older versions of AMosaic would not check for environment configuration
if the file ENV:Mosaic/Prefs did not exist.

Older versions of AMosaic did not release the memory used in telnet,
rlogin, or tn3270 sessions.
5) More telnet/rlogin/tn3270 stack
Older AS225 versions of AMosaic only applied 4000 bytes of stack for
these external programs. Now, 32,000 bytes are allocated.
6) Some visual change
Stephen Burstroem made some "minor gui change" to AmiTCP-beta4, which I
did not receive a source update for. I don't know what it is, and it
isn't in this version.
7) Compiled with optimization
The AS225 version is compiled with all SAS/C 6.55 optimization turned
on and at full force.
8) Corrected a possible enforcer hit when accessing news.
9) .ZIP is recognized properly.
10) Several efficiency and portability source code changes
11) External viewers are spawned differently, in ways which should prevent
them from causing AMosaic to crash
12) Path names are dealt with properly, and a bad path will not cause
AMosaic to crash
13) No more accesses to insti.physics.sunysb.edu -- all internal references

preformance we have decided to release the same version as our
betatesters have been testing. This version is called AMosaic1.4beta
and it is still a beta (although almost all bugs are gone).
This is the AS225 version. An AmiTCP version is available. A DNET
version is not. It should be ready for the final release.
This archive (or parts of it) MAY NOT be uploaded to aminet or any other
place that distributes Amiga software (eg big BBS'es, CDrom collections etc.)
The reason for this is simple: We don't want this version to be mistaken
for the final one.

pitanju je logo, koji je navodno bio oštećen i nije radio na svim
konfiguracijama, pa se ispravan odmah našao u posebnoj arhivi. Ja nisam
imao nikavih problema, ali za slučaj da neko jeste, evo ga.
Da vas ne bi zbunjivalo, verzija sa ispravnim fajlom je dobila oznaku
1.0a, tako da ako je negdje sretnete, da ne pomislite da je nešto

one sa bolje opremljenim konfiguracijama, jer zahtjevi su mu prilično
veliki. Uz poruku je demo posljednje verzije, koja je izašla 20. marta

This is the fifth official demo release of IBrowse.
To install and run Ibrowse do the following:
Delete all old IBrowse related files. (You may save your hotlist)
Dearchive it where you want it. (A dir will be created)
Start it and start prefs to configure where you want to have the cache dir.
(If you are afraid of hd crashes, you can have the cache in ram: until you
believe that IBrowse is stable!)
Since this is a demo release, some functions are removed:
It can only open 4 network connections.
You may only have 1 window open.
Mailto interface is disabled.
+ a couple of more that you'll like when you see the final release...
The last demo release created lots of problems to some people and most of them
was their own faults. You should _not_ copy any libs out of the IBrowse dir.
And you _must_ remove all old files, libraries etc from the last demo. Failure
to do so will most likely result in the 'Cannot open url message'
The progressive image decoders should now be stable on OCS/ECS/AGA systems.
On CyberGfx TrueColor it does not work and if you try to use it on a TrueColor
display, an error message will appear instead of an image. Use the datatypes
decoder in this case.
Many people have contributed to this release with many usefull bugreports.

I have put together a sample prefs file with the most common mime types
configured. I have used multiview as the main viewer, but you can change it to
whatever you like. Please note that the 'External w. Pipe' mode isn't
implemented yet.
If you don't like the spinning anim or if you thinks it takes too much time,
you can use the other one supplied in '/Images' rename the old and copy
def_TransferAnimationNM#? to def_TransferAnimation. It is a static picture.
If you thinks it uses too much colors, you can replace it with a custom
picture. (Check the files and you'll understand. Do also check the .info files
because they contain size info)
IBrowse should now be stable when you abort loading in all cases. If you still
have problems, please let me know asap.
Please not that you do not have to copy any libraries from the IBrowse dir. If
you do so, you'll most likely see problems in the future (like you did with
the v0.67 release)
The most important changes from R3a are:
Removed (hopefully) the crash on exit bug.
Added 'Ask user' method for unknown mimetypes.
Pressing a link while holding shift down now downloads the file to disk.
Aminet dirs should now be shown correctly even if you press 'back'
Made 2 image dirs. 1 with the old ones and one with the new ones. Choose the
one you like most.
The most important changes from R4a are:
Added AS225 support. (See ReadMe_as225 for details)
Removed stupid crash bug when aborting pageloading / download binary.
Implemented a progressive JPEG decoder.

Reworked the images for the nav. buttons. If you have your own buttons, please
look at the Images/def_Navigation for an example of how to create new ones.
Reworked the gui abit. You can now drag all button bars and place them where
you like them in the window. You can also turn of various GUI parts.
Splitted prefs in 2: General Prefs and Network Prefs
Put the imagedecoder in a shared library. If you use datatypes only, you don't
have to have 80k of unused code loaded.
The hotlist is saved in html format now.
Note:
Some people have reported problems with IBrowse and the new 24bit datatypes.
I have found that the problem is in many cases a bug in the KS3.1 rom.
If IBrowse fails with a guru 8000000B this is most likely caused by this. In
that case, please try to show the picture with multiview. If that fails too,
it is not IBrowse fault. Afaik this only occurs on 040 based machines running
KS3.1 To correct this, there is a patch on Aminet: 'util/boot/MathPatch.lha'
(Which fixes crashes from other programs aswell that uses math functions)

Known Bugs:
Simple refresh window will result in strange refreshing of some GUI elements
(sliders, string gadgets etc.) This is a bug in MUI and it is fixed in future
releases.
If you select the TextArea element and try to use Sliders, the window won't
react. This is a bug in MUI and we are working on a solution.
24bit datatypes may cause problems and crashes :( I do not know yet if this is
a datatypes problem or if the problem is in IBrowse. IBrowse stresses (legaly)
the datatypes abit more than AWeb so it is possible that the problem is in the
datatypes.
No nice icon. Briliance crashed when I tried to make one so I gave it up!
Anyone that can create a nice set of std/mwb/ni icons?
This is a small list of implemented things / fixed bugs:

the size of the anim. Supported tooltypes are:

This allows users to create own animations eg. to get a nice animation on a
640x256 screen. If no icon exists, it guesses the values from the bitmap
size.
