This is the NSDi AmiTCP/IP Patch archive which will patch
either AmiTCP/IP 4.1 or AmiTCP/IP 4.2 installation to full
AmiTCP/IP Pro 4.3 installation (thus making previous
AmiTCP/IP 4.1 to AmiTCP/IP 4.2 patch archive obsolete).
Your old configuration should work as is, but it is recommended
to reconfigure AmiTCP/IP with `Config AmiTCP' WorkBench tool
after patch is installed.
It is also recommended that you set `Log File' on -- if something
goes wrong we'll get detailed information of what happened.
Log file is written to the patch archive directory after patch is
finished.

DESCRIPTION
Smodem is a new generation file transfer protocol. Unlike older
protocols, like Zmodem, it has a separate low level multiplexed
transfer layer (MSLP) and a high level file transfer layer. This
new design simplifies protocol design and will give a maximum
efficiency of as high as 99,5%.
Multiplexing has made it possible to send one or more files in one
continuous stream without any breaks between files. This will boost
multiple file transfers dramatically.
Smodem allows you to have chat during filetransfer. Chat is done
via string gadget and the whole "sentence" is sent at once. This
allows easy implementation of multinode chats during file transfers
and tranferrates don't decrease drascticly.
The protocol has a symmetrical nature. You can connect Smodem with
itself by looping transmitted characters back to the receiver.
There is no reason to limit transfers in one direction. Smodem
will transfer files in both directions at the same time without
noticeable performance loss.
SModem works also on telnet lines, if encapsulation is turned on.

Imam jednu vest za koju se bojim da je suviše lepa da bi bila
istinita :)
Naime, listajući novi broj "Čipa" (domaćeg), na pretposlednjoj
strani, na listi najpopularnijih programa "Amiga Centra", na četvrtom mestu
nalazi se Netscape Navigator!! Ne mogavši da verujem u to što sam video,
odmah sam ih pozvao kako bih se uverio da nije u pitanju neka greška.
Međutim čovek kaže da je to _baš onaj_ Netscape Navigator, navodno radi i
na 2MB (oni očigledno nisu probali), a na pitanje o ceni - "paa, znate, vi
ste prvi koji se raspituje, ali verovatno ćemo da vidimo da to utopimo
nekome većem, pa tek onda vama..."
S obzirom da meni to sve i dalje jako čudno zvuči, bilo bi lepo da
neko ko ili ima boljeg kontakta sa pomenutom firmom (AC), ili pristup
Internetu, proba da sazna nešto više.

Glavna stvar potrebna za konfiguraciju PPP-a su podaci koje treba da
dobiješ od svog Internet provajdera - njihova adresa (IP broj), adresa
DNS-a (domain name servera), eventualna tvoja adresa... U principu, od njih
treba da dobiješ sve što ti je potrebno, tako da samo popuniš odrgovarajuće
rubrike u AmiTCP Config. programu.
E sad, za PPP vezu ti je potrebno dvoje (PPP - point to point
protocol), tako da nije ni čudo što si imao problema sa konfigurisanjem.
Postoji mogućnost da podesiš AmiTCP tako da radi u 'lokalu', ali koliko
videh to je dosta iskomplikovano u verziji 4.3 (u 4.0 demo je relativno
jednostavno).
S obzirom da još uvek niko ne nudi PPP vezu, teško je dati
preciznije informacije. Ono što je lepo je što EUnet YU počinje da nudi
besplatnu PPP vezu (u probnom) periodu svima koji imaju nalog kod njih
(takođe se dobija besplatno). Ja sam tražio nalog, pa čim ga dobijem biće i
detaljno uputstvo o povezivanju :)

Pogrešno misliš, a i skroz si promašio temu :) Pogledaj u zaglavlju
ime konferencije... (da ne bude da imam nešto protiv tebe, ako nemaš Win95
najbolje uzmi Trumpet Winsock, a Netscape uzmi u svakom slučaju).

Trenutno, nikako. Za početak, pozovi EUnet YU na telefon 328-2608 i
zamoli da ti otvore nalog. Nakon toga, moći ćeš da zoveš pod svojim imenom.
Trenutno su od servisa dostupni samo Mail i News, a ostalo stiže uskoro...

Za početak, batali verziju 4.3 - vrati se na 4.1, ili 4.2. Čini mi
se da u svakoj novoj verziji sve više komplikuju stvar, umesto da
olakšavaju :(
Dakle, meni je uspelo da uspostavim vezu preko AmiTCP-a 4.2, ali
dalje nisam mnogo stigao - trenutno se mučim da nateram mail (AmiPOP,
AirMail) i news (Tin) programe da prorade. Radi mi jedino Ping :)
Kasnije ću ostaviti detaljniju proceduru kako da podesite AmiTCP.

Dakle, da krenemo - Mala škola AmiTCP-a, prvi deo :)
Kao što verovatno znate, EUnet YU od nedavno nudi svima koji su
zainteresovani _besplatan_ nalog, u periodu testiranja. Osim 'klasičnog'
Unix shell-a, moguć je i pristup preko PPP naloga. Dve neophodne stvari
za to su AmiTCP, poželjno verzija 4.1 ili 4.2 (ja koristim 4.2; sa 4.3
je bilo nekih problema pri instalaciji, vrtićemo se na nju kasnije) i
PPP.device. Naravno, poželjno je da i jedno i drugo legalno kupite od
autora, što znači da imate registrovane verzije ;), a demo verzije
možete naći na SezamNetu, direktorijum AMIGA\NET .
Dakle, prvo raspakujemo arhivu sa PPP.device, i isti (device)
smestimo u direktorijum DEVS:Networks (poželjno je da bude baš tamo!).
Zatim, ubacimo disketu sa AmiTCP/IP-om i pokrenemo program
Install-AmiTCP...
Za početak, od delova koje želimo da instaliramo, izaberemo samo
AmiTCP/IP (Sana-II net. drajveri su za SLIP, koji se više gotovo ne
koristi, Emacs se _uopšte_ ne koristi ;). Fontove možete instalirati, a
ako vam treba Software Developer Kit, onda verovato nema potrebe da
čitate ovo :)
Direktorijum gde će biti instaliran AmiTCP odaberite po želji (meni
se nalazi u WB:net). U njemu će biti kreiran direktorijum AmiTCP-4.2
(ili već zavisno od verzije koju imate). Zatim dolazi raspakivanje
fajlova, a onda najvažniji deo - konfiguracija.
Pod 'Default user name' unesete svoje korisničko ime (poželjno ono
koje koristite na EUnetu). Zatim je potrebno uneti još neke podatke o
novom korisniku - tj. vama. To su: korisničko ime, User ID, Group ID
(ostavite default), puno ime, home dir (meni je, npr. Data:home/mikis),
i dodajte podatke u bazu (svi podaci o korisnicima su u fajlu
AmiTCP:db/passwd). Još unesite svoj password, i možemo preći na
konfigurisanje protokola.
Dakle, za pristup EUnet Yu, izaberemo "PPP configuration". Interfejs
je ppp0, adresa je dinamička, netmask - default. Podesimo paametre
serijskog uređaja - device koji koristimo (npr. serial.device), Unit
number (0), Baud rate (57600 za 14400 modeme - sa 2400 modemom PPP nema
mnogo smisla; poželjno da vam ova vrednost bude kao u komunikacionom
programu), MTU (ostavite kako je ponuđeno), i najzad, možete izabrati
Dial-script koji će pozvati vašeg provajdera i automatski se ulogovati.
Kod mene taj script izgleda ovako:

Snimite ovo u fajl, npr. AmiTCP:db/dial-EUnet. Podesite i ostale
opcije vezane za ppp0 interfejs (u principu, samo uključite Hardware
handshake /CTS/RTS/).
Zatim prelazimo na podešavanja samog AmiTCP-a. Kao "Domain name"
unesete "EUnet.yu" (bez navodnika, naravno ;). Inetd ne morate
startovati, osim ako nemate nameru da koristite neke server programe na
vašem računaru. IP adrese Name Servera (DNS) su sledeće:

"Domain name to search" je takođe EUnet.yu. Ostaje da odgovorite na
još par pitanja (mislim da se možete i sami snaći :) i instalacija je
gotova. Resetujte računar, i možemo krenuti na isprobavanje veze :)

Dakle, resetovali smo računar. Otvorimo shell prozor, pređemo u
AmiTCP:bin direktorijum (nije neophodno), otkucamo startnet. Ako ste sve
ispravno podesili, AmiTCP će se startovati, i skript će početi da okreće
broj. Ako se nikakva greška ne prijavi, i dobijete komandni prompt (a
modem je još uvek na vezi), najverovatnije ste uspeli da se konektujete
:) Da bi ste bili sigurni, otkucajte "ping 194.247.192.251". Ako
dobijete nešto poput sledećeg:

znači da vam veza funkcioniše. Inače, komanda "ping" služi baš za
proveru veze. Kao argument zadaje se numerička ili slovna adresa hosta
(umesto gornjeg mogli smo kucati "ping TS-BG-1.EUnet.yu"), a izvršavanje
se prekida sa CTRL-C. 'Konverzija' adrese iz jednog u drugi oblik
obavlja se komandom "askhost <adresa>".
...i to je otprilike dokle sam stigao u dosadašnjem radu sa
AmiTCP-om. Ostaje još podešavanje mail-a (POP protokol) i newsa, na čemu
intenzivno radim. Uzgred, vezu prekidate se "offline ppp0", a iz
AmiTCP-a se izlazi sa "stopnet".

U međuvremenu, proradio mi je i AirMail - zapravo, nije radio jer
sam pogrešno postavio neke path-ove O:) Dakle, ako hoćete da testirate i
mail na EUnetu, skinite za početak AirMail 1.2 iz AMIGA\NET direktorijuma
(datoteka airm12.lha), instalirajte, i podesite sledeće parametre (u Host
Setup):
SMTP Host: relay.EUnet.yu
Domain: EUnet.yu
UserID: (vaš username na sistemu)
Real Name: (vaše ime i prezime)
Password: (vaš password na sistemu)
Oko ostalih podešavanja verujem da ćete se snaći i sami, jedino
preporučujem da isključite opciju "Delete mail on server", u meniju Mail
setup, bar za prvo vreme, dok se ne uverite da veza funkcioniše :) Takođe,
obratite pažnju da svi path-ovi koje navedete u Mail setup-u _moraju_
postojati, inače može se desiti da vam stvar ne radi kako treba, a ne
dobijate odgovarajuću poruku o grešci (to se meni desilo, editor uopšte
nije hteo da se startuje, a poruke nisam mogao da skidam jer mi je javljao
'Can't open file' :( ).
Inače, stvar je zanimljiva, ali samo za zezanje - proces razmene
pošte traje prilično dugo (i do 2-3 minuta, sa samo jednom porukom!), čak i
sa 28800 vezom... Mada, moguće da je u pitanju kvalitet veze, ali ipak je
mnogo brže preko klasičnog shell-a. Prave čari PPP-a moći će da se okuse
tek kad proradi WWW servis :)
U međuvremenu, odo' ja da se igram sa AmigaTIN-om, a vi bacite po
koju poruku na 'mikis@EUnet.yu', čisto da vidimo kako stvar šljaka :)

Hm, mislio sam da sam ranije bio dovoljno jasan, ali izgleda da opet
dolazi do zabune... Dakle: PPP.device, registrovanu verziju, koju možete
naći na SezamNetu, Aminetu, domaćim bbs-ovima... NE MOŽETE koristiti bez
key file-a! Key file se _kupuje_ od autora, a ukoliko ga nemate, morate
koristiti evaluation verziju PPP.device-a (ili ne daj Bože krekovanu ;)
Meni sasvim lepo radi sa 1.30 Evaluation.

I've read much about the problems with dialing up using the new scripts
provided by AmiTCP4.3 (newsgroups c.s.a.networking, c.s.a.applications,
de.c.s.a.comm). I use only aslip.device but it should be no problem
to use ppp as well for it (by simply replacing slip through PPP).

- starts httpproxy automatically (if UMS not specified)
- Stopnet with option HANG logs off automatically (you need to have
IPDial installed for using this feature and a hangup script)

Provider.conf files
-------------------
My provider.conf files serves as an example how to automatically dial up,
login and start the slirp program (I'm not yet using a real slip connection)
It has been much adopted to the computer I log into so you will have to
change it. The offline.conf can be used either to run AmiTCP offline or to
reconnect after a RESET has been done. Simply start with:
> startnet offline
Remember that the host name MUST be specified in db/hosts and the domain(s)
& Nameserver(s) MUST be specified in resolv.conf for the offline config.
Devices
-------
It seems that most devices have to be configured in db/autointerfaces. At
least I did not succeed with slip0 (which is defined in db/interfaces)
when not specified there. I got the following error:
Sana2 configuration file and contents NOT definedin interface configuration!
Could not open serial device for dialing!
Interface slip0 not found!
Interface configuration failed!
Stopping AmiTCP
Memory NOT flushed!
It worked fine when I changed aslip.device to rhslip.devide in autointerfaces
so at least you should find a possibility to use f.e. rhcslip.
But I had no problems using magplip device (only defined it in interfaces)
(though I have not tested if the link itself works).
Final Words/Future
------------------
Please E-Mail me if you have any suggestions/improvements/problems/comments
with/to my scripts. I will try then to help you or to improve them.
If you ask me very friendly I might (re)write the Dial script so you can
provide several phone numbers for dialing (if one is busy..). I might need
this myself somewhen in the future. The basic idea is to use an array for
the phonenumber and to tell how much numbers we have (-> easy to configure).

INTRODUCTION
------------
AWeb is a World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer.
It offers the following features:
o AWeb doesn't use Magical User Interface (MUI). It uses BOOPSI classes
instead, which results in less memory usage and increased speed. The
BOOPSI classes are partially custom designed for AWeb, and partially
from the ClassAct kit.
o AWeb can use a wide range of TCP-stacks: AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225, AS-225
or compatible. Without TCP stack running, you can still view local files.
o AWeb uses extensive internal multitasking, which leads to total
asynchroneous and parallel network access. Images are starting to load
while the document is still loading. It is possible to follow a link
while the previous document is still loading. A separate network status
window shows all pending network and local file accesses. All network
accesses can be interrupted immediately.
o The HTML-2 standard is fully supported, including forms. For buggy
pages not conforming to the standard, AWeb offers a compatibility mode.
o AWeb supports the use of proxies for HTTP, FTP, Gopher and Telnet.
Because some proxies can't handle forms or other special cases, the use
of proxies can be temporarily disabled from the menu.
o The HTTP and Gopher protocols are supported internally. By using
external programs, FTP and Mailto can be used too. HTTP user
authorization is supported.
o AWeb lets you load all images, delay all image loading, or load only
clickable maps and delay other images. For delayed images, the ALT text
is taken into account. Transparent GIFs are supported. The 24-bit picture
datatype (picturedtV43) is supported.
o To improve network speed, host names and network addresses are cached
so addresses are looked up only once during a session.
o AWeb can open it's windows on the default public screen, on a named
public screen or open its own screen.
o In extension to its own hotlist, AWeb can read other hotlists, like
those of AMosaic and early IBrowse betas.
o An advanced settings requester is integrated in the program.
o AWeb has an ARexx interface, and a unique and powerful shell command
interface.

AWeb 1.1 is a bugfix with many bugs fixed that were left in version 1.0.

INSTALLATION
------------
To install AWeb, just double-click the Install icon.
NOTE: During installation of AWeb, the installer tool might give an
error message like: "unable to compile script".
This is most likely caused by some misbehaving application installation,
that has copied an obsolete version of the Commodore Installer utility to
your hard drive. Make sure the Installer version in the SYS:C drawer is
"installer_2 2.17 (1993-02-13)" or better. This version can be found on
the Amiga Workbench 3.x Install floppy disk.
Also, delete any copies of the Installer program from your SYS:Utilities
drawer.
If you want to try AWeb before a permanent installation, make sure to
double-click the "MakeAssign" icon first. It makes the necessary assigns
that AWeb needs to find the ClassAct classes.

AmyBW - The Blue Wave Offline Mail Reader for the AMIGA!
AmyBW is a freely distributable program, you do not have to pay anything to
use it. AmyBW may be copied and uploaded to wherever you want as long as
you do not make any changes to the program or archive.
- Introduction -
AmyBW is a program that will enable you to read and write electronic
messages, using the "Blue Wave Mail System". Blue Wave has become one of
the most popular systems to read mail offline. Unfortunately this is only
true for the PC users, it isn't very popular on other platforms...YET.
Now you can use AmyBW on your Amiga! It is fully compatible with the
original PC version, except it doesn't have every feature the PC version
has. Some features were intentionally left out, others might be
implemented in the future. On the other hand AmyBW has some extra
features, such as a sample player to signal you on personal messages and a
line wrapping message quoter.
Due to popular demand (and the fact that I needed it myself) AmyBW can now
also handle QWK mail packets. Well, actually it just converts QWK packets
to BlueWave packets and replies the other way around. Consider it a better
than nothing feature. :-)
- System Requirements -
To use AmyBW you need at least Kickstart 2.04 and 1Mb of memory, a harddisk is
not necessary but definitely recommended. You also need these libraries to
run AmyBW:
- reqtools.library version 38+
- diskfont.library version 37+
- EAGUI.library version 1.1+
A text editor (e.g. Ed or CEd) to edit replies and an archiver (e.g. LhA) to

Introduction
As its name suggests, Gui-FTP is a file transfer client implementing the
internet File Transfer Protocol (FTP) as described in RFC959. It has a
graphical interface to make access to its features as straightforward as
possible. The section Revision History contains fuller details of the
changes in this release.

Changes
1. The initial directory field of the phonebook is now actioned.
2. Extended the phonebook to include:
a) The command to use to obtain a listing of the contents of a directory
b) The external command to use to convert directory listings to the
format understood by Gui-FTP.
3. The button strip at the bottom of the window removed and a menu added to
replace it.
4. Better support for UNIX sites, block and character devices, named pipes
and sockets are now recognised.
5. Downloaded files can be passed through a "filter", for example to unpack
archives, or view "README" files.
6. An AmigaDos or ARexx script or a program can be automatically run at
start-up.
7. External file viewers are supported.
8. Tooltype support added.
9. Remote directories are cached. The cache can be flushed under
user-control.

(user-id, password or account) that the host needs but has not been

12. Internal changes that should slightly reduce memory fragmentation.

a) The string gadget used to display the local and remote current
directory is now over typeable.
b) The "ChDir" button has been moved to a small button to the right of
the current directory gadget.
15. The directory lists and/or the session history can be removed from the
display if required.
16. The main window is now an AppWindow - dragging files to the window will
transfer them to the host.
17. Timestamps now written to the log to mark the beginning and end of an
FTP session.
18. In-progress transfers can be aborted by sending a CTRL-C signal to the
program.
19. A forced re-read can be performed for remote directories to update the
cached copy.
20. The remote directory list can be written to the log for review later.
21. The information on the progress of a transfer that is shown in the
session history has been expanded to include:
a) The elapsed time.
b) The estimated time remaining
c) The average transfer rate.
22. Files can be double-clicked to initiate transfer.
23. Directories must be double clicked to open them.
24. Directories can now be renamed and/or deleted.
25. The phonebook maintenance dialogue now allows entries to be copied.
26. A "Save" option added to the confirmation requester displayed when the
phonebook is exited and changes have been made but not saved.
27. An ARexx port has been added.
28. Files can be given a new name on up or download.
29. There is a verbose option to show all communications with the host and
their replies.
30. The size and position of the screen are saved in "Gui-FTP.prefs" in
"ENV:" and "ENVARC:"
31. The window can be iconified.
32. Printed documentation available.
33. A grapical progress bar is used to show the state of the transfer and to
allow transfers to be aborted.

Ono što mogu da najavim je da ću se potruditi da ovde prenesem

Misliš na praćenje on-line ili off-line? Za on-line, preko PPP
naloga ne znam, još nisam uspeo da ga nateram da radi :( Preporučujem ti da
konferencije čitaš offline, pomoću Thora, Ofline Orbit-a ili nekog trećeg
OLR-a koji podržava SOUP, odn. QWK format. Thor se može podesiti da čita
direktno News format, ali ja nisam imao vremena da se zezam sa time -
koristim Offline Orbit, koji je znatno manji i jednostavniji od Thora, ali
radi posao :)
Jedina nezgoda je što je trenutno veličina Soup/QWK paketa ograničena
na 1 MB, tako da je potrebno skidati poruke u nekoliko navrata (ako pratiš
više newsgroup-a), i menjati imena skinutih paketa da se novi ne bi
nadovezali na njih...

Hm, juče ga instalirah i sve je iz prve proradilo. Poruke sa EUneta
skidam komandom 'soup', a i u Thoru mi je kao format poruke za taj sistem
podešen Soup. Ne razumem na koji GET NEWS misliš?

Aha - ti ipak pokušavaš da čitaš on-line? Rekoh, za sada pređi na
Soup. Mada EUnet podržava i QWK format, ipak treba koristiti Soup jer su
kod njega uklonjena mnoga ograničenja ovog prvog (kao npr. dužina subjecta
od samo 25 karaktera ili nemogućnost praćenja poruka 'po referenci'.

Slaba vajda - radi samo preko PPP naloga, na koji ja uporno odbijam
da se prebacim. Em je dosta spor, em mi ne radi news (mada, možda bi radio

(još uvek) lokalnog karaktera, tj. samo za fajlove na EUnetu.

Iskreno rečeno, vrlo je naporno za praženje, pošto je priliv poruka
ogroman (oko 200-300 poruka dnevno, samo u Amiga konferencijama!), ali
problem je što je najveći deo toga (80%) šum, odnosno poruke kojima ni
izdaleka nije tu mesto (beskonačne rasprave tipa PC vs Mac vs Unix vs Amiga
vs Win95 vs Win NT...) ;(

Vidim da niko ovo nije komentarisao, pa ću ja ovaj slučaj zaključiti sa
par riječi...
Nije ni čudo kako se Amiga srozala na našim prostorima, s obzirom na
činjenicu kakve prodavce softvera imamo. :( Iako svaki dan provodim sate
na Mreži i tačno znam šta od WWW browsera postoji, šta je u kojoj fazi
razvoja i šta se najavljuje, nisam mogao odoliti da ne nazovem Amiga
Centar i raspitam se malo o tom njihovom Netscape Navigatoru.
Odmah ću da spomenem jednu stvar - nikada, ali baš nikada do sada kad sam
ih zvao nisam dobio konkretan odgovor ni na jedno postavljeno pitanje! Da
li ja to postavljam neka teška i nezgodna pitanja ili su oni tipovi koji
"mlate praznu slamu", mislim da nije teško zaključiti.
Ni ovaj put nije bio izuzetak.
Javio se lično gospodin Debeli (kako ga od milja zove Amigina
populacija ;), i prvo što me je pitao bilo je da li zovem iz Beograda i
da li sam ikada dolazio kod njih!? Zanimljivo, pomislim, garant ispipava
situaciju da bi znao kako da se postavi i dokle može da ide u svojim
lažima. Nakon oba potvrdna odgovora uslijedilo je pitanje o kakvom se to
programu radi koji reklamiraju.
Odgovorio je otprilike ovim riječima... parafraziram: "Program se u
stvari zove Navigator, u pitanju je jedna veća DMS arhiva, ali ima tu još
neki Netscape... uglavnom, to je sigurno to što je navedeno." "Hm, a kako
bih ja to mogao da nabavim od vas?", pitam ja onako oprezno. "Pa, znate,
dobili smo oko 200 megabajta novog softvera, i malo će potrajati dok se
to sve ne isproba... Vi treba da dođete kod nas pa da na licu mjesta
vidimo da li je to program koji vas zanima...", odgovara pun sebe glas s
druge strane žice. "Nema problema, kad se možemo dogovoriti da ja
navratim pa da to vidimo?", sad ja sasvim direktno pitam. "Aaaa ne, ne
ide to tako, mi imamo puno posla, vi treba da nazovete za nekoliko dana,
a mi ćemo u međuvremenu to isprobati pa ćemo vam reći.", već pomalo
uvrijeđeno odgovara moj sagovornik.
Sve mi je bilo jasno i nisam htio dalje u vezi toga da se raspitujem.
Pitao sam još samo koliko naplaćuju snimanje i završili smo razgovor.
Meni ipak đavo nije dao mira, pa sam po svaku cijenu htio da znam da li
se u skorije vrijeme pojavio neki program koji se zove Navigator i čemu
služi. U tu svrhu sam kontaktirao čovjeka koji se bavi istim poslom, ali
koji je za klasu kompetentniji od centralne figure ove priče.
Rezultat je bio na neki način očekivan. Navigator (v2.0) je zaista
skoro izašao, ali dovesti taj program u vezu sa Netscape Navigatorom,
najpopularnijim WWW browserom za PC, mogla je samo bujna (i prljava)
mašta. Zašto? Pa zato što je Navigator 2.0 program za titlovanje!
Kad sam kasnije bacio pogled na neke arhive na disku, ustanovio sam da i
ja čak imam taj program. I vi ste ga sigurno zapazili po našim Amiga
boardovima.
Poentu čitave ove priče nije potrebno da naglašavam. Neki će od vas možda
reći da su sve to od ranije znali... znao sam i ja, ali sam iz principa
htio da stvar izguram do kraja, da ne ostane sve kao do sada na "imali
smo pa se prodalo", "očekujemo za par nedelja", "javite se kad nabavite
18 Mb RAM-a" i slično. Ostalo je još samo da ih nazovem i kad mi saopšte
"tužnu vijest", da im se onako glasno i bezobrazno nasmijem. ;) Ko zna,
ako me baš uhvati, možda to i napravim. ;>

sad prepoznaje paket. U svakom slučaju ga skini, ima brdo poboljšanja u

Nađe se uvijek neko ljubazan... ;)
Bilo je jedno dvadesetak fajlova u tom direktorijumu - dvije verzije
programa, verzije za različite procesore, razni dodaci... Mislim da sam
skinuo sve što se tiče verzija 0.97 i 1.0 (1.0 su samo binarni fajlovi,
ostalo se uzima iz 0.97) za 020 procesor. U arhivi su:

Ja sam pre mesec i po kupio HP 5L i uz njega dobio gomilu drajvera
za PC.
Do sada nisam uspeo danadjem ni JEDAN JEDINI drajver za njega za
Amigu, ni za jedan program. Doduse lepo radi sa drajverima za HP 4L
ali to je rezolucija 300*300, a 5L ima rezoluciju 600*600 koju ne
mogu da iskoristim jer nema drajvera.
Jedini program koji moze da da otisak kao u ogledalu je Page Stream.
Verzija 2.2 je stara PET godina i nema drajvere za mnoge formate
koji se sada koriste, a verzija 3.0 je BAGOVITA. Izgleda da niko
nema ispravnu verziju 3.0. Dakle prakticno je tesko koristiti
Amigu za DTP.
Amiga izgleda u celom svetu polako gubi trku, a ne samo kod nas.

Po n-ti put, paket Studio Printer Software ima sistemske drajvere za
većinu popularnijih štampača. Mislim da se bez problema na tvom štampaču
može koristiti drajver za HP4, pošto i on radi u 600 dpi, dok za kontrolu
štampača (Economod, RET, isl.) mogu da posluže brojni jutilitiji za 4L.

Ovo je veliki problem i na PC-ju. Većina programa (kako na Amigi,

Šta da kažem - sjajan program za E-Mail :) Ja sam skroz oduševljen :)
Namenjen pre svega za Internet i UUCP mail, ima odličan GUI (ne zahteva MUI!)
ima mogućnost attach-ovanja fajlova, i automatskog rada sa njima u zavisnosti
od tipa. Npr. attachujete IFF sliku uz mejl, i primalac u tool baru vidi
ikonicu sa nazivom slike, klikne na nju u Voodoo mu prikaže sliku (pomoću
datatype-a ). Ima ugrađen (pristojan) editor, veoma je konforan za upotrebu,
i prilično jednostavan za podešavanje. Meni radi sa UUCP-om jako lepo, a
đorđe će nam već reći kako radi preko AmiTCP-a :)

Na žalost, nisam još isprobao Voodoo ON-LINE :( jer sam se zaludeo
sa THOR-om. Konačno sam podesio sve kako treba i odlično radi! :)
Žao mi je što Voodoo nema opciju za NEWS, a kod THOR-a samo jedan
click na DO ALL i prenese i NEWS i MAIL :)) (takođe se pojavljuje
ikonica ako je poruka uuencode ili nešto drugo).
Inače, verovatno svi već znate, kada ste na vezi (PPP), ne mora da
se startuje ceo THOR već samo ikonica Connect Thor, što je dobro
za mašine sa malo memorije :) Eh, još kad bi imao key.file ... :(

startujes AmiTCP tj uglavi se negde u ramu... vidis i sam da ga
poziva iz ramlib-a :) znas ono, prvo se pozivaju romski, pa
rezidentni, pa uglavljeni :), pa pathovani, pa sa harda .... ehem

Ne moze se koristiti drajver za HP4 vec samo za HP4L (a to nije dovoljno)

Kolege Amigisti, evo nečega što smo dugo čekali!
Poznato vam je koliko je nezgodno konfigurisanje ppp0.device-a i koliko
zapravo čitav taj princip nije user-friendly... E, pa, jednom tipu je sve
to toliko išlo na živce ;) da mu je na kraju puk'o film i odlučio je da
pokuša da napiše vlastiti PPP device koji bi bio poput Macovog -
jednostavan i efikasan. Rezultat tog pokušaja ćete vidjeti ako skinete
fajl koji je prikačen uz poruku. :)
Šta reći... brzo, lako, jednostavno... nešto što nam je u ovoj ekspanziji
komunikacija bilo više nego potrebno. Instalacija je krajnje trivijalna.
Osim kopiranja fajlova i device-a u odgovarajuće direktorijume, potrebno
je još ubaciti samo par linija u startnet i interfaces datoteke. Programom
se u potpunosti upravlja preko GUI-ja. Nekoliko minuta kliktanja po
gedžetima i PPP je spreman za rad! Ja sam ga iskonfigurisao za desetak
minuta i sve je proradilo bukvalno iz prve!
Svi podaci o provajderu, kao i dial skript se takođe unose preko GUI-a.
Može ih biti proizvoljno mnogo. Kad završite sa unosom informacija,
kliknete na "Open" i šou može da počne. :)
Sve po čemu se ova shareware verzija razlikuje od registrovane je
requester koji se otvara nakon svakog startovanja i koji vas upozorava da
treba da se registrujete, ne dozvoljavajući vam 5-6 sekundi da ga
isključite.

Introduction

This is a program somewhat similar to biff or xbiff for unix boxes. The
difference is that while biff watches a mailbox file (like Sabot on the
Amiga), Artemis connects to your POP3 mailhost via TCP/IP and queries how
many mails you have waiting.
biff was developed a long time ago by the BSD programmers at Berkeley
University in California. They named the program after one of authors' dog
because it had a habit of barking when the mailman came. Continuing this
tradition I named my program after one of our cats, Artemis. :-) No, Artemis
doesn't meow at the mailman. :^)

BGUI for AWeb's Settings window!

This is just a mock-up of what the AWeb settings window might (should) look
like using the BGUI package. This means that it requires BGUI.library to
reside in LIBS:. BGUI 1.2 can be found on AmiNet, in dev/gui I believe.
So, why did I do this then? Am I a hater of ClassAct? No, that's not the
reason, as I think ClassAct is pretty good actually. But, then came AWeb,
which had its settings use ClassAct. And GOD DAMN it is slow! I thought
BGUI was slow in redrawing on a screen with 128 colours, but ClassAct really
took the prize this time. And the chooser at the top, that alone takes more
than a second to open up the first time.
And, on the whole, the cycle/chooser gadget is a pretty bad choice for
something you may need to swap back and forth several times (we ARE talking a
prefs program here, which you might use a lot when you start using a program).
That is why I sat down and put together a quick "AWeb Settings" look-alike with
BGUIBuilder. Now, I'm all for BGUI, since it's only ONE SINGLE library, but I
know there are lots of people who think it is too slow. But hey, ClassAct IS
slower, at least when I tried it here on my machine. Without BGUI loaded, it
took about 4 seconds to load the BGUI look-alike, and without the different
ClassAct-parts loaded, the built-in version took some 5 seconds to appear.
Neither of these are very good times, but then the Amiga isn't top-of-line when
it comes to processing power anymore.
Anyway, the BGUI version uses tabs instead of a cycle/chooser gadget, making it
a hell of a lot easier to work with. The only thing I wasn't able to really do
was the palette stuff in Screen/Palette. But, I didn't want to put too much
work into it, since this is probably where my idea will end.
However, if you feel like me, write to Yvon Rozjin at yrozijn@xs4all.nl and
tell him what you think.
At least he could make the windows use the bottom border for the sizing gadget
instead of the horrible left border that is present in AWeb 1.1.

INTRODUCTION:
AddToBookmarks.aweb is an ARexx script which adds the current page to
a bookmarks file. It is better than AWeb's Add to hotlist-command,
because the bookmark file is hierarchical, which is a necessity for
all reasonable sized bookmark files. It is also better than
AddToHotlist.aweb-script which can be found on Aminet, because it
uses a standard HTML-file, not AWeb's own strange hotlist-format.
Unlike AWeb's hotlist bookmarks created with this script can be read
by any www-browser.
REQUIREMENTS:
-AWeb
-Arexx

INSTALLATION:
Copy the script to your AWeb directory and make sure the is not a file
called bookmarks.html in that directory. Also, check that RexxMast is
running. That's it.
OPERATION:
1) When you see an interesting place, start the the script by selecting
'Start ARexx macro...' from the ARexx-menu or by pressing right-Amiga
and !
2) Select the script from the requester
3) Edit the pages description and press return. If you select Cancel,
nothing is added to the bookmarks file.
4) Requester appears displaying available categories. If all categories
do not fit one requester, you can flip pages by selecting Prev or Next.
Select the right category by clicking it's number.
5) If you select New, you'll be asked for a name for the new category.
Selecting cancel returns you to the category list, entering a name
creates a new category and adds the page to it.
You may edit the bookmarks file, if you are careful. Just remember the
following things:
-a category entry in index must be only one line
-there may be other lines between category entries, if they don't
begin with <li>.
-do not remove categories from the middle, you can rename them if
you wish, but don't remove them
-links in categories may be deleted and edited, as long as you leave
the <ul> and </ul> lines as they are. Also, do not change the
<a name="n"> part of the category header line.
-and just to be sure, always keep a backup of the unedited file :)

the files automatically. It also can compute the transfer time from
a BBS to your system.

list (but in this case the program also manage a dir on HD that contains
the files that you want to send).
On all list you can effect others operation such as search and print.
The program is shareware.

GetURL.rexx is an ARexx script which will download World-Wide Web pages.
With a simple command line it will download a specific page, and with
more complex command lines it will be able to download specific sets of
documents.
The intention was to create a tool that allowed local caching of important
web pages and a flexible way of specifying what pages are important. The
script has no GUI as of yet but may have at some stage in the future.
If you have ever tried to download and save to disc a 200 page document
using Mosaic, then you know what this script is for. Mosaic will only
let you load a page, then load it to disc, then load another page etc.
This is a very frustrating process. GetURL automates this process and
will run in batch mode without user intervention.
The major features of GetURL.rexx are as follows:
* doesn't require AMosaic, so you can be browsing something else
with AMosaic whilst this is running
* save pages to your hard disc so that they can be read offline and
you can also give them to friends on a floppy disc. Who knows,
you may even be able to sell discs containing web pages :-)
* flexible set of command line switches that allow you to restrict the
type of pages that it downloads
* ability to specify files for the lists of URLs that it keeps so
that any search for pages can be stopped and restarted at a later
date. i.e. you could run GetURL for 2 hours a day whilst you are
online and gradually download everything in the entire universe
and it won't repeat itself.
* includes the ability to download itself when there are new versions.
* will use a proxy if you have access to one, in order to both speed up
access to pages and also to reduce network load.
* will download binary files (*.gif, *.lha) as easily as text and html
files.

IPDial is used to establish a SLIP, CSLIP or PPP connection to an ISP
(Internet service provider). This is done using a script file which consists
of commands like SEND "ATZ" or WAIT "CONNECT". After the connection is
established, IPDial usually logs in with your user account and activates
SLIP/PPP on the remote machine. When all this is successfully done, IPDial
exits and your SLIP/PPP device takes over the line.
When you want to disconnect, you can also use IPDial to make to modem
physically hang up the line after SLIP/PPP has terminated.
Furthermore, IPDial has a built-in terminal mode which uses the current
shell window. If something fails while IPDial is trying to establish a
connection, you can just press Ctrl-F to enter the terminal mode and log in
manually.

IPDial has several features that many other dialers lack:
- built-in shell terminal mode: You can always interrupt your dial script
if something went wrong or enter a secret password without writing it into
your dial script file.
- IPDial can read the serial configuration (device, unit, baud rate and
handshake protocol) from a SANA configuration file. If you ever want to
use a different device, unit or baud rate, just change it for your SANA
device and IPDial will automatically use your new settings.
- own script language: Simple but powerful BASIC-like language. You can,
for example, scan the input stream for dynamic IP addresses and store them
in environment variables.
- very small: IPDial is less than 23 KB small and uses very little memory
while running.

INTRODUCTION

MiniMail is the result of a few months of pretty hard work. Despite being
good, it still isn't even a fraction of what I want it to be. This is
mainly because of a fixed deadline, set as a result of doing MiniMail as a
"special project" at school.
MiniMail is simply an integrated email system - it lets you read and write
email, without the fuzz of having to rely on external mailers, pop-clients,
etc. It was designed to be very user friendly, letting you concentrate on
reading and writing your email rather than fuzzing around with a fancy but

A evo i prve zvanične verzije famoznog Voyagera...
Program je spocifičan po tome što prepoznaje dio HTML3 i Netscape Level 1
ekstenzija. Zahtijeva MUI 3.3 (njega znate gdje možete naći ;), što znači
da se na standardnoj A1200 sa 2 Mb RAM-a možete oprostiti od online
grafike i zvuka. Bukvalno nećete moći otvoriti ekran u visokoj rezoluciji
sa 256 boja, što je primaran zahtjev za WWW.
Još jedna od dobrih osobina programa je i brzina. Čini mi se da mnogo
brže prolazi kroz faze konektovanja nego na primjer AWeb, što ga čini
vrlo upotrebljivim za tekstualno krstarenje Webom.
Težnja da se postigne što veća kompatibilnost sa postojećim HTML
standardima je izgleda umanjila broj opcija u samom programu. Nije onako
detaljno konfigurabilan kao AWeb, a nedostaju mu i neke uobičajene
stvari. Svejedno, kad se uzme u obzir da je program freeware, može se
reći da smo u ovom periodu oskudice kvalitetnog softvera dobili još jedan
značajan proizvod.
Ipak, pravo narodno veselje ;) se očekuje po izlasku Voyagera - Next
Generation. Projekat je već uveliko započet i početak beta testiranja se
očekuje u julu. To bi tek trebao da bude browser dostojan jednog
Netscapea. Njegove osnovne karakteristike, skinute sa Vaporware-ovog

Voyager 1.0 is a freely distributable WWW browser for AmigaOS.
Its range of features covers:
o It's faaaast. On the average, Voyager outruns any other available Amiga
Web browser by a factor of two.
o Supports the full HTML-2 standard as described in RFC-1866, including forms.
It doesn't want to be a reference implementation, though, and tries to make
the best even out of malformed documents.
o Supports many proposed so called HTML-3 extensions.
o Supports Client Side Image Maps.
o Supports Netscape-Level 1 (NHTML) extensions, including <center>, floating
images, background images and text coloring (both RGB and named colors).
o Supports HTTP access authorization.
o Supports ftp, gopher and wais via proxy.
o Supports news: usenet news reading and posting.
o Supports interfacing to mail readers and telnet clients for mailto:
and telnet: URLs.
o Document cache with optional automatic last-modified-date-based verify.
o Versatile hierarchical bookmark system, allowing export in HTML format,
menu selection and drag'n'drop sorting.
o Full support for true color displays with V43 datatypes.
o Asynchronous network handling. Multiple windows.
o works with Miami, AmiTCP, as225r2, inet225 and mlink.
o can be used without a network package as a local file viewer
(esspecially useful with client-side-image-maps)
Voyager 1.0 is released now as a free gift to the Amiga community. Our
main development efforts are currently gearing towards the release of
Voyager 2.0 (our internal name is "V - Next Generation"), which is

The second release of Voyager is already under development. Besides
the speed and usability of the Freeware version, it will feature:
* Completely rewritten incremental layout engine providing smooth
display and much faster page layout.
* Builtin image decoders providing incremental image display.
Supports interleaved GIFs, multi-stage JPEGs and even GIF
animations. Will do Fast mem buffering of offscreen images.
Full Hicolor/Truecolor support for Cybergfx equipped systems.
* Supports the latest HTML extensions, including full Tables
functionality and Frames, Netscape's multi window extension.
Also font sizing, font coloring and image scaling.
* Provides standard hooks for new media type plug-ins, for example
VRML 3D worlds.
* Supports HTTP/1.1 extensions including keep-alive connections
for faster transfers of multiple objects.
* Highly improved cache and network handling. Up to 32 network
connections possible. Less memory usage for internal buffers.
* Overhauled user interface. Up to 32 fastlink buttons. Context
menus to directly download links, save images, adding to bookmarks
and more. Better drag & drop support.

Pravo da ti kažem, nemam pojma - nisam ga koristio sa tim FIDO-type
adresama. Koristaio sam ga samo za SOUP, ali sad sam prešao na Thor,
mada ću izgleda i njega da batalim ako ne podržava UUCP News :)

Ne bih rekao da je problem u parama - izgleda da ipak nemaju tako

Najlepše hvala na prilogu, ali dobar deo toga se _već_ nalazi u diru
- ili bar u konferenciji (npr: AmiTCP 4.0, AirMail, AMosaic, PPP.device,
mFTP...). Svejedno, videću da što pre skinem ovo, pa da se i ostalo bači
u dir...
Možda bi bila fora da napravimo i jednu našu ovakvu distribuciju?
(sa AWeb-om, Voodoo-om, AmiPPP-om...) :) Samo još da neko konačno krene
sa komercijalnim radom...
