decembra, do aprila, Betis nije doživeo nijedan poraz, a do sredine marta

Norway overpower Mexico
OSLO, May 20 - Egil Olsen celebrated his last home match
as Norway coach with a convincing 5-2 victory over Mexico on Wednesday.
Olsen, set to retire after the World Cup finals, watched Roar Strand fire
the first of Norway's four first half goals in the 12th minute.
Two minutes later Havard Flo tapped home from a corner by Stig Inge
Bjornebye. Mexico replied through Ricardo Pelaez in the 19th minute with
his first shot. Norway restored their advantage through defender Ronny
Johnsen from a rebound and five minutes before the interval defender
Henning Berg was on target again from a corner. The pace slowed notably
in the second half, when each side scored one apiece.
Pelaez hit his second when Berg failed to clear and substitute Vidar
Riseth brought headed Norway's fifth, yet again from a corner. Olsen and
Mexican coach Manuel Lapuente both criticised the bumpy pitch.
"We almost played the reserve team. I didn't want to risk anything because
of the field," said Lapuente.

Italian media says Juventus deserved to lose
By Paddy Agnew
ROME, May 21 (Reuters) - Italian media agreed unanimously
on Thursday that Juventus deserved to lose.
"Juventus, Where Were You?" ran the front page headline in the Rome
sports daily Corriere Dello Sport, "Juventus, What a Disappointment"
echoed the Rome daily, "La Repubblica", while the Milan sports daily,
"Gazzetta Dello Sport" led with "Juventus, How Very Bitter".
In a reference to the theft this week of paintings by Cezanne and Van Gogh
from Rome's National Gallery of Modern Art, "Gazzetta Dello Sport" offered
this leader comment. "Even while we still recovering from the shock of the
theft of the Van Gogh in Rome, we suffered another awful trauma in the
football gallery of Amsterdam. "The splendid, combative, unbeatable Juventus
to which we have become accustomed has gone missing. "Nor have we any
information as to the whereabouts of its best and most famous star of
the season, a certain Alessandro Del Piero". All commentators underlined
Del Piero's poor performance as well as the gulf between the Juventus who
his month won their 25th Serie A title and the side who limped meekly to
a 1-0 defeat by Real Madrid.
Having lost last year's final to German side Borussia Dortmund, Juventus had
been widely expected to go one better this year, especially since they had
had a less stressful preparation for the game.
"The Juventus staff had assured us that they (the players) were at their
best, all charged up and raring to go. If that was true, we certainly did
not see it on the pitch. "Juventus lost the game more in their heads than
with their legs, even if their legs did not look all that great", reflected
"La Repubblica". "This was another Juventus, so different from that which
has just won the (league) championship, a Juventus that was inhibited and
suddenly weighed down by all its limitations allowed Real Madrid to win back
the Champions Cup after 32 years". Juventus's number one fan, former FIAT
President Gianni Agnelli, also conceded that the best team had won, telling
reporters as he left the Amsterdam Arena halfway through the second half:
"The result is right, in a final like this whoever scores the first goal
goes on to win, and they scored it". Del Piero and French team mate
Zinedine Zidane, perhaps the two players of whom Juventus expected most,
both offered no excuses for the defeat. "We played for 20 minutes and then
gave up. We got it all wrong. Real played better than us and that's that",
said Zidane. Del Piero could offer no satisfactory explanation for his own
disappointing night, saying: "I didn't play well, on the contrary...
It really annoys me, it's something that has only happened to me on a
couple of occasions and that's why I feel really bad". Not all Italians,
however, were disappointed by Real Madrid's victory. Motorists driving
through central Rome just after 10 o'clock on Wednesday night were
surprised by the collective roar of approval which greeted the winning goal
from Real's Yugoslav striker Predrag Mijatovic.
Traditional anti-Juventus feeling among fans of other Italian clubs touched
an all time high this springtime, sparked off by the sensation that the
Turin club owed its title win at least partly to a series of controversial
refereeing decisions in its favour.

World Cup-Old-timers Baggio and Bergomi are back
By Gideon Long
ROME, May 21 - Roberto Baggio's season-long battle to win back his place
in the Italy's World Cup plans finally paid off on Thursday when coach
Cesare Maldini named him in his 22-man squad for France.
Inter Milan's 34-year-old defender Giuseppe Bergomi also earned a
surprise place in the party after a seven-year absence but there was no
room for Chelsea's Gianfranco Zola or Pierluigi Casiraghi of Lazio.
Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero was named only provisionally after
picking up an injury to his groin in Wednesday night's European Cup final.
Italian media reported the strain was worse than first feared and that
Del Piero would be sidelined for 10 days. Maldini has to decide by June 2
whether to take the talented forward, who would be sorely missed in
France if he does not recover in time.
Baggio, who inspired Italy to the 1994 World Cup final and then sealed
Brazil's victory by missing a penalty with the last kick of the tournament,
has not been called up since September last year when he made a fleeting
appearance in Italy's 0-0 draw with Georgia in their qualifying campaign.
The 31-year-old was dropped for the Rome showdown with England the
following month and had to watch from the sidelines as Maldini's side
struggled past Russia in the play-offs.
When Italy announced they would play World Cup warm-up matches
against Slovakia and Paraguay in early 1998 -- and when Maldini vowed to
make changes to his lacklustre side -- it appeared Baggio was back in the
frame. But he was left out of the squads for both matches, suggesting his
brilliant international career might be over.
Baggio insisted it was not and continued to play superbly for Bologna,
who he joined after a frustrating 1996-97 season at AC Milan during which
he was frequently left on the bench.
He scored twice on the final day of the season just finished to end as
Serie A's third highest scorer with 22 league goals, the highest tally
of his career. That, and his ability to change the course of a game with
his unpredictable skills, appear to have forced Maldini to reconsider
his selection.
"It's a wonderful feeling," Baggio said on hearing of his selection,
"It repays me for so many disappointments."
The other big surprise in the squad is the inclusion of Bergomi, the
only member of Italy's victorious 1982 World Cup squad still in action.
Bergomi appeared in the final of that tournament as an inexperienced
18-year-old and marked West Germany captain Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
out of the match.
But "Lo Zio" (The Uncle) has not played for Italy since June 1991
and was left out of the squad for the 1994 World Cup.
"I owe my selection above all to (Inter Milan coach) Gigi Simoni,
who kept on playing me this season even when it was difficult to do so,"
Bergomi said. "I just hope my experience can help us in France."
Baggio's fascinating recall means there is no place in Maldini's squad for
forward Zola, whose form has dipped this season at English club Chelsea.
He last played for Italy against England in Rome in October, when he was
deeply disappointing, but did score a spectacular winner for Chelsea in
the European Cup Winners' Cup final against Stuttgart earlier this month.
Casiraghi misses out despite scoring the goal which finally took Italy to
France -- a second-half strike in November's second leg qualifying match
against Russia in Naples. The only chance he now has of making the squad
is if Del Piero fails to shake off his injury.
Inter Milan winger Francesco Moriero is retained after scoring two
spectacular goals against Paraguay and AS Roma midfielder Luigi Di
Biagio also makes the party after his impressive debut against Slovakia
in January.

World Cup-Iran stun Inter with four-goal burst
By Stefano Rebaudo
COMO, Italy, May 23 - New Iran coach Jalal Talebi watched his team
bounce back from a 7-1 midweek drubbing by AS Roma to beat Inter Milan
4-1 on Saturday. Iran trailed 1-0 at halftime but hit four goals in 16
minutes late in the second half for a much-needed boost ahead of the
World Cup finals. Talebi, who took over on Tuesday from sacked trainer
Tomislav Ivic, said: "We're not ready yet. The team's 75 percent.
"The hardest thing for me was taking over so close to the finals."
Iran looked out of it in the first half and fell behind when Alvaro Recoba
dribbled through for a scorching goal in the 41st minute. But Iran improved
considerably after the break and hit Inter with a goal from Kia Mahdvi in
the 71st minute followed by a double strike by Ali Daei in the 76th and
78th minutes. Karim Bagheri, Daei's team mate at Arminia Bielefeld,
made it 4-1 with a header three minutes from time.
Talebi, a member of the Iranian team in the early 1960s and manager of
Indonesia's Olympic squad in 1996, has a less illustrious track record
than Ivic, who coached Paris St Germain, Olympique Marseille and Ajax
Amsterdam. But Iranian soccer federation vice-chairman Abbas Torabian
said he expected better things.
"Talebi isn't a famous name like Ivic, but his work will be better.
A great name doesn't make a great coach. Talebi knows the history,
the technical capabilities of the players and he can put them in the
right frame of mind to face any situation.
"Ivic didn't manage to understand the psychology and the culture
of our players."
Iran were jeered off the pitch in Tehran in their first match -- a 2-0
loss to Hungary -- after Ivic took over on a six-month contract in January.
Forced on to the defensive after poor performances in France, Ivic last
week described Iran as a diamond that just needed to be polished and
predicted his side would beat either Yugoslavia or Germany in group F
in France. Also in the group are the United States, but Talebi said his
team had no qualms about meeting them.
"For us, it's just another game. We're going to the World Cup to play
soccer. This is a sporting competition. Sport is one thing and politics
is another," Talebi said.
Iran will be competing in only their second World Cup finals. "No one's
expecting to make the semifinals or the finals," Torabian said.
"We're playing in the World Cup for the first time in 20 years. This proves
soccer isn't dead in Iran, and now it will be more successful than ever."

World Cup-Hosts France stick to expected squad
By Pierre Serisier
CLAIREFONTAINE, France, May 23 - French manager Aime Jacquet sprang
no surprises on Saturday when he named the 22 players to represent
the host country in the World Cup.
Jacquet, who had gathered a group of 28 players at France's training camp
in Clairefontaine, had already warned six of them on Friday evening that
they would not take part in the finals.
Jacquet left out in-form Arsenal striker Nicolas Anelka and kept
Marseille's Christophe Dugarry and Monaco's Thierry Henry, who have
both been lacklustre in recent months.
"My only concern was to pick the best possible team for France," said
Jacquet, adding that his mind had been made up for three months.
The other five players left out of the final squad were Sampdoria defender
Pierre Laigle, Metz goalkeeper Lionel Letizi, Monaco defender Martin
Djetou, Auxerre midfielder Sabri Lamouchi and AC Milan's Ibrahim Ba.
Jacquet said he had wanted to delay naming his selection but had decided
to go ahead as the six discarded players wanted to be released straight
away.
"For us it is the symbolic start of the World Cup. The choice of the 22
is in the continuation of what has been done in recent months," said
Inter Milan striker Youri Djorkaeff.
The squad includes 12 players who took part in Euro 96 when France
reached the semifinals. Nine of the 12 are expected to form the backbone
of the team. Among the 10 others, Jacquet included young players such as
Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira and Auxerre's Bernard Diomede.
Despite his desire to bring fresh blood into the squad, Jacquet left
out Anelka who has been in impressive shape recently, scoring one of
Arsenal's two goals when the Londoners beat Newcastle in the English
F.A. Cup final last week.
"My only concern was the team and I did not compare players to one
another," Jacquet said, refusing to elaborate. The 22 players retained
by Jacquet paid tribute to the six who will be absent. "We went to say
goodbye to them. It must be very hard to live with but we were all warned,"
said Djorkaeff. "I'll be France's number one fan," said Djetou, who had no
illusions aboutbeing called up after injury problems.
World Cup-France's squad for the World Cup:
Goalkeepers: Fabien Barthez (Monaco), Bernard Lama (West Ham),
Lionel Charbonnier (Auxerre)
Defenders: Lilian Thuram (Parme), Laurent Blanc (Olympique Marseille),
Marcel Desailly (AC Milan), Vincent Candela (AS Roma), Bixente Lizarazu
(Bayern Munich), Franck Leboeuf (Chelsea)
Midfielders: Didier Deschamps (Juventus), Alain Boghossian (Sampdoria),
Zinedine Zidane (Juventus), Christian Karembeu (Real Madrid), Robert
Pires (Metz), Patrick Vieira (Arsenal), Emmanuel Petit (Arsenal),
Bernard Diomede ( Auxerre)
Strikers: Stephane Guivarc'h (Auxerre), Thierry Henry (Monaco), David

Scotland, Colombia draw 2-2 in Cup warmup
EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey, May 23 - A goal by Freddy Rincon 11 minutes
from time gave Colombia a 2-2 draw with Scotland on Saturday in a soccer
friendly at Giants Stadium. A crowd of 56,404, mainly supporters of
Colombia, witnessed the wide-open match between the two World Cup-bound
squads. Colombia opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through a Carlos
Valderrama penalty kick. The Colombians were awarded the penalty after
Derby County defender Christian Dailly took down Wilmer Cabera just
inside the area. Valderrama beat goalkeeper Neil Sullivan high to the
right side. Scotland grabbed the equalizer only two minutes later through
John Collins. The Monaco midfielder took a short pass from Darren Jackson
and hit a l9-metre shot to the upper right corner.
Craig Burley, one of seven Celtic players on the squad, scored his first
international goal to give Scotland a 2-1 advantage in the 33rd minute.
Again, Jackson was the catalyst, putting Burley through into the left side
of the area, drawing Calero off his line and slotting home from six metres
at a difficult angle.
Sullivan stymied the Colombians for much of the second half. In the 68th
minute, Rincon got in alone but had his bid from seven metres stopped by
Sullivan. Colombia got on level terms at 79 minutes when Parma forward
Faustino Asprilla broke in on Sullivan, only to have his shot ricochet
off the right post, along the goal line and off of the left post where
the Corinthians midfielder put it home from five metres for the eventual
final result.
Teams:
Colombia: 1-Miguel Calero, 2-Ivan Cordoba, 4-Jose Santa, 5-Jorge
Bermudez, 13-Wilmer Cabrera, 6-Mauricio Serna, 8-Harold Lozano,

Soccer-German striker Dundee set to join Liverpool
BONN, May 22 (Reuters) - German striker Sean Dundee is set to join English
premier league side Liverpool from relegated Karlsruhe SC, a spokesman for
the German club said on Friday. The 25-year-old, South African born Dundee,
who has been at Karlsruhe since 1995, had reached an agreement with
Liverpool and should pass a mandatory medical check next week,
the spokesman said, declining to give details of the deal.
Dundee was tipped as a likely choice for Germany coach Berti Vogts after
scoring 17 goals last season but he has been hampered by injury this season.

AC Milan name Zaccheroni as coach
ROME, May 25 - AC Milan named Alberto Zaccheroni, who took Udinese
to third place in serie A this season, as their new coach on Monday.
A spokeswoman said Zaccheroni had signed a two-year contract, taking
over from Fabio Capello who was sacked last week after Milan's
disappointing season. Milan, who have dominated soccer in Italy and Europe
for much of the last decade, finished the season 10th and failed to qualify
for Europe for the second successive year. Zaccheroni's successor at Udinese
has already been named, with Vicenza coach Francesco Guidolin taking over.
Baggio set to leave Bologna for Inter Milan
BOLOGNA, Italy, May 25 - Roberto Baggio is set to leave serie A side
Bologna for Inter Milan after scoring 22 goals last season and
winning a place in Italy's World Cup squad.
"As things stand at the moment, it is 99.9 percent certain Baggio will
leave," club president Giuseppe Gazzoni told reporters at a televised
news conference. Gazzoni said that he had made a counter-offer to keep
Baggio away from Inter Milan.
"I spoke this morning with Inter president Massimo Moratti and made a
counter-offer to keep Baggio: 35 percent more than what he earns now
and the chance to manage a soccer school at the end of his career,"
Gazzoni said. "But if Moratti wants to make another counter-offer,
I won't be able to follow suit," he said.
Italy coach Cesare Maldini recalled Baggio to his 22-man squad last
week after an eight-month absence during which the 1994 World Cup
hero's international career appeared to be over.
Baggio had not been picked since September last year when he made a
fleeting appearance in Italy's 0-0 draw with Georgia in their qualifying
campaign. But Baggio has played superbly for Bologna, which he joined
from AC Milan last year in a bid to guarantee himself first-team football
in the season before the World Cup.
He scored twice on the final day of the season to end as Serie A's third
highest scorer with 22 league goals, the highest tally of his career.
"Baggio has paid his debt to Bologna, playing the way he has...he has
been like a fantastic meteorite," Gazzoni said. "But paying him six billion
lire ($3.5 million) a year would mean busting our books...and that would
not be good news."

Eintracht Frankfurt will re-join top flight
BONN, May 25 - German second division leaders Eintracht Frankfurt
made sure of returning to the top flight with a 2-2 draw at home
to FSV Mainz 05 on Monday.
The 1980 UEFA Cup winners, who were relegated in 1996, needed just
one point to be certain to finish in the top three even before waiting
for the championship's last two games.
Frankfurt went 2-0 up before 33,000 fans in their Wald stadium with goals
from captain Ralf Weber and Christoph Westerthaler in the 10th and 39th
minutes respectively. Mainz levelled through Christian Hock in the 61st
minute and Peter Neustaedter four minutes later to give Eintracht a tense
last 20 minutes but they held out for the point they needed.
Eintracht won the German first division title in 1959 and the German
Cup four times -- in 1974, 1975, 1981 and 1988.
Four clubs -- Nuernberg, SC Freiburg, Guetersloh and St Pauli -- are still
in contention for the remaining two tickets to the first division.

i odigra još par godina u mirnijoj atmosferi, gde će takođe biti lider.

World Cup-Croatia suffer Boksic injury blow
ZAGREB, May 26 - Croatia's World Cup preparations suffered a serious
blow on Monday when key striker Alen Boksic dropped out because of a
knee injury. Boksic faces surgery on his right meniscus and will not
recover in time for the finals, said team doctor Boris Nemec.
"Croatia is losing one of its main trump cards for the World Cup. His form
this season, when he was one of the best strikers in the world, together
with Ronaldo and Del Piero, was a warrant for great optimism. I've been
building my strategy on him," lamented coach Miroslav Blazevic.
He blamed Boksic's Italian club Lazio for intentionally misleading the
player into thinking his injury was not as serious as it was.
"I have to say that Boksic was misled. We knew a week ago what the
situation was, but were unable to make a decision. Lazio is paying him,
they wanted to sell him to AC Milan for $10 million, and they were
intentionally playing down the seriousness of the injury," Blazevic was
quoted as saying by daily Jutarnji List.
Boksic's absence will be felt even more than in Euro '96 -- where he was
sidelined because of influenza -- as this time around his striking partner
Davor Suker of Real Madrid is struggling to find his best form.
Boksic scored some important goals in the World Cup qualifiers, including
the equaliser in a 1-1 draw in Kiev against Ukraine that secured a 3-1
aggregate victory in the play-offs and a place in the finals.
Boksic's place will be taken by either Goran Vlaovic, who has made only
limited appearances for Valencia this season, or Igor Cvitanovic, who
moved from Croatia Zagreb to Real Sociedad in mid-season and needed
three months to secure a first team place.
Blazevic said he was not planning to call another player to replace
Boksic in the 25-man squad preparing in Porec on the Adriatic coast.
He is scheduled to announce his final 22-player list on June 1.
Two other key players have problems with injuries. Libero Goran Juric
is battling an adductor injury, while fullback Robert Jarni has problems
with a stomach muscle.
Both are likely to be fit for Croatia's opening group H game against
Jamaica on June 14.

BUCHAREST, May 26 - Nikolaos Limperopoulos scored twice to lead Greece

The Dutch were up against it virtually from the start when striker Fernando

Lymperopoulos scored his first, spectacular, goal in the 21st minute when
he dribbled past Dutch keeper Jim van Fessem and fired the ball into the
net from a seemingly impossible angle. Midfielder Paraskevas Antzas headed
home Greece's second goal seven minutes after the break and Lymperopoulos

Croatia kick out Cvitanovic
ZAGREB, May 27 - Croatia coach Miroslav Blazevic has kicked striker
Igor Cvitanovic out of his World Cup squad for reportedly answering back
in training a day after Alen Boksic was ruled out with a knee injury.
"Cvitanovic ruled himself out of the squad," Blazevic was quoted as
saying in the Vjesnik daily newspaper. "I had to kick him out, because
he threatened my authority."
The Real Sociedad striker had reportedly answered back to Blazevic
in a training session on Tuesday morning at the squad's camp in Porec,
complaining that he was tired. The coach, known for maintaining tight
discipline, eliminated him on the spot.
"The worst thing is that I need him as badly as one needs bread. He is
a fantastic player, I can't describe how much I need him for France,"
Blazevic said.
Lazio forward Boksic was ruled out after it transpired that he needed
surgery on his right meniscus and would not recover in time for the World
Cup. Assuming Cvitanovic stays out of the squad, Blazevic is now down to
two proven strikers -- Real Madrid's Davor Suker and Valencia's Goran
Vlaovic, both of whom are out of form.
He also has veteran Ardian Kozniku and debutant Petar Krpan,
top scorers for France's Bastia and Osijek respectively.

Partizan director Nenad Bjekovic said the deal would be signed

World Cup-Croatian campaign in trouble
By Davor Huic
ZAGREB, May 27 - Croatia's World Cup squad, badly hit by last-minute
withdrawals, faces Slovakia on Friday in the first of nal tests
ahead of France 98.
In just two days coach Miroslav Blazevic has lost two strikers,
including Alen Boksic whose heroic 20-metre equaliser against Ukraine
secured Croatia a place in the finals.
Blazevic's "trump-card" for France dropped out of the squad after a
close medical examination showed that his right knee needed urgent
surgery which will sideline him for a month.
In a furious attack on Boksic's club Lazio, Blazevic accused it of playing
down the seriousness of the player's injury during transfer talks with AC
Milan. The shock had hardly subsided when Blazevic shot himself in the
foot, eliminating in fury a possible replacement for Boksic, Real Sociedad
striker Igor Cvitanovic, after a seemingly innocent incident.
Cvitanovic -- all time top scorer of champions Croatia Zagreb with 104
career goals -- left the club in mid-season and needed three months to
make an impression and win a place in the starting 11 at Real Sociedad.
The big question now for Blazevic is whether the three friendlies Croatia
faces in the space of nine days -- against Slovakia on Friday, Iran on
June 3 and Australia on June 6 -- will be enough to find and train a new
offensive line-up.
With Real Madrid striker Davor Suker fit, if out of form, and Valencia's
Goran Vlaovic as an obvious replacement for Boksic, the starting line-up
should not be a problem as the two teamed up in Euro '96 in England,
when Boksic through influenza. But if anything should happen to them,
Blazevic will have big problems finding a replacement.
He can choose between Bastia's veteran Ardian Kozniku, who deserved a
call after a flash of talent in a recent game against Croatia's first team,
and debutant Petar Krpan, whose goals helped provincial side Osijek to
reach the UEFA Cup.
Krpan is young but has tradition on his side -- almost all Croatian
strikers including Suker, Vlaovic and Cvitanovic were born in Osijek
and had played for the local club.
Blazevic said he might call up another player before June 1 when he is
expected to announce the final 22-man squad. Croatia play their first
Group H match against Jamaica on June 14. Also in the quartet are Japan
and group favourites Argentina.
On a more positive note for Croatia, the two players suffering injuries
-- libero Goran Juric and Jarni -- are expected to be fit for the finals.
However, it was not clear whether they would be fit for Friday's game
against Slovakia.
Probable team:
Croatia - Drazen Ladic (Croatia Zagreb); Goran Juric (Croatia), Robert
Jarni (Betis), Slaven Bilic (Everton), Igor Stimac (Derby County); Mario
Stanic (Parma), Zvonimir Boban (AC Milan), Aljosa Asanovic (Napoli),
Robert Prosinecki (Croatia); Davor Suker (Real), Goran Vlaovic (Valencia).

HELSINKI, May 27 - European champions Germany stuttered to a disappointing
goalless draw in a World Cup warm-up against Finland on Wednesday.
Veteran libero Lothar Matthaeus, playing his first match for Germany in
three-and-a-half years, failed to sparkle and Finland grabbed the
initiative and created the better chances.
Jari Litmanen unnerved the German defence when he shot narrowly wide
after just two minutes and the Germans struggled to contain the striker
all match. Germany midfielder Thomas Haessler spearheaded Germany's effort
to turn things round and went close to scoring with a free-kick in 18th
minute and with a powerful shot from 20 metres in 35th.
Juergen Klinsmann, who had hoped to show in the match he was still
Germany's first-choice striker, withdrew just hours before kick-off with
bruised calf. He was flown home for medical checks, but may still be able
to take part in a friendly against Colombia on Saturday.
But his absence might have served him better than playing as strikers
Oliver Bierhoff and Ulf Kirsten -- substituted by Olaf Marschall in
the second half -- never seriously threatened Antti Niemi's goal.
Germany coach Berti Vogts was clearly disappointed with the result,
saying: "I cannot be pleased with this performance. "The midfield didn't
work."

Mexican team is still trying to find its way and does not seem to know

and played well the first 40 minutes of the first half.
In the last five minutes of the first half, the Germans surprised the
Mexican team and scored 3 goals. At the beginning of the first half,
the Germans finished the Mexican team scoring a fourth goal, the last
of the game. Jorge Campos did a good job and stopped a penalty kick.
Mexico's will play its next game with Japan on May 31.
It is a very difficult moment for our National team, the next 13 days
will be critical to regain confidence in ourselves and start the World
Cup with our heads up. Everyone Mexican may be thinking a lot of things
right now. I think it is not time to criticize the players and the coach.
There is very little they can do right now. Now is the moment to support
our team, then we will have four years to criticize.
The only reason to change our coach is to allow the Mexican Football
Federation blame the coach and not take any responsibility for the
four years of preparation for this World Cup.
I mean, a World Cup is every other four years, not every weekend!
Teams have been playing for a long time to get here, teams should
be thinking of winning the World Cup since the first round.
Football Federation are responsible for the performance of the teams,
not necessarily the coaches.
I have not lost faith, we will make it to second round
and there we will show the world what are we made of.

World Cup-Yugoslavia demolish Nigeria
BELGRADE, May 29 - Veteran playmaker Dragan Stojkovic led Yugoslavia
to a well-deserved 3-0 victory over fellow World Cup qualifiers Nigeria
in a warm-up match on Friday. Stojkovic, constantly improving despite
his 33 years, never wasted a pass and controlled the game in his former
Red Star Belgrade home ground.
Nigeria's Yugoslav-born coach Bora Milutinovic was left with several
problems. One is goalkeeper cover. Abiodun Baruwa, replacement for regular
choice Ike Shorunmu, lacked decisiveness and could easily have conceded
more than three.
Nigeria showed some fine midfield play in the first half, but the home
team were much faster on the break, admirably marshalled by Stojkovic.
Predrag Mijatovic and Savo Milosevic wasted four fine header chances
presented to them by Baruwa. But Milosevic made up for the misses just
before halftime when he scored with a fine diving header after a cross
from the right by substitute Slobodan Komljenovic.
Yugoslav keeper Ivica Kralj was tested only once, by substitute striker
Daniel Amokachi. Kralj, who has signed for Porto and left Red Star's
Perica Ognjenovic as the last remaining home-based man in Yugoslav coach
Slobodan Santrac's squad, went off with a nose injury after a clash with
Finidi George minutes before time.
The Yugoslavs assumed the initiative in the second half, mounting a series
of lightning counter-strikes controlled by Stojkovic and Sinisa Mihajlovic.
In the 61st minute, Taribo West passed back to Baruwa, who failed to spot
Real Madrid's Mijatovic sneaking up on him and he stole the ball, scoring
easily. Eleven minutes later Darko Kovacevic, who had replaced Milosevic
in the second half, staged a veritable slalom through the Nigerian defence
and slotted home.
Mijatovic, scorer of Real Madrid's European Cup-winning goal last week,
could have made it 4-0 but missed an empty net 10 minutes before time.
"There is really little to say after you lose 3-0," Milutinovic said.
"The Yugoslavs were the better side, and we simply have to continue
working hard."

World Cup-Belgium edge out England on penalties
CASABLANCA, Morocco, May 29 - Belgium defeated England 4-3 in a penalty
shootout after a listless 0-0 draw in the King Hassan II Cup on Friday.
Both Belgium coach Georges Leekens and England coach Glenn Hoddle
made sweeping changes from the teams they fielded in their first matches
in the competition on Wednesday. Leekens started with an entirely new
line-up and Hoddle made seven changes. The match was enlivened by some
isolated excitement around the two penalty areas. Belgium went close to
scoring three times in the second half -- once from Emile Mpenza just
after the break and then twice from Enzo Scifo and Mpenza again in the
closing minutes.
Scifo, 32, winning his 80th cap, forced an outstanding save from England
goalkeeper Nigel Martyn with a screaming 30-metre drive which Martyn did
well to palm away for a corner after 87 minutes.
England were denied a goal after 20 minutes when Les Ferdinand scored
after good build-up work by Paul Gascoigne and Robert Lee, but a
linesman flagged Ferdinand offside when TV replays showed he had been
level with the last defender before starting his run for goal.
Belgium scored in the shoot-out through Eric Van Meir, Vital Borkelmans,
Mbo Mpenza and goalkeeper Phillipe Van de Walle. Scifo's shot was
saved. Robert Lee saw England's first penalty saved by de Walle but
they scored through Michael Owen, David Beckham and Paul Merson, before
Van de Walle tipped Les Ferdinand's shot on to his left-hand post

Ma, u stvari, šta me briga za zubatog.

A Miloje kad je oborio onaj rekord onda "Miloje najbolji"?
fudbal.195kum.djole,
Kako bre sranje? Mnogo jaka utakmica.
Neznatno pojačani Partizanovci ;) samleli čamuge.
Atmosfera na nivou, naši standardno dobri, golman Nigerije promašio
profesiju, a i videlo se kako odbrana lepo funkcioniše bez Đorovića. ;)

fudbal.197nemanjja,
-> #182, kum.djoleSta fali Djorovicu ???
Ako se on uvukao do bubrega
neznam sta onda rade Milosevic, Stevic, Saveljic...
pogodak.
fudbal.198nemanjja,
-> #184, nikolaj>>Ti mora da navijas za Zvezdu ...
komada.
P.S. Posto Kralj ide ko ce biti golman Partizana ?
fudbal.199nemanjja,
-> #195, kum.djole>>Neznatno pojacani Partizanovci ;) samleli camuge.
Sta bre kenjas.
