odbrambena vestina.

I naravno budi redovan. To je sve.
Zelim ti puno uspeha.

Holyfield wins by bizarre disqualification
LAS VEGAS -- Evander Holyfield won his much-publicized rematch with
Mike Tyson and a brief brawl erupted in the middle of the ring when
Tyson was disqualified for twice biting Holyfield's ears in the
third round.
Tyson initially had two points deducted in the third round when he
bit Holyfield's right ear while the fighters were clinched together.
Referee Mills Lane was ready to stop the fight and award the victory
to Holyfield, but was overruled by the ring doctor
When replays at the end of the round clearly showed Tyson biting
Holyfield again, the fight was stopped and Holyfield officially
retained his World Boxing Association crown.
"I disqualified Tyson for the second foul," Lane said. "I clearly
told him, 'don't do it again,' and he did it again."
"He spit his mouthpiece out and bit me on the ear," Holyfield said.
"I'm happy that we have a referee like Mills Lane to disqualify him.
"The whole thing is I believe that fear itself causes people to do
the quickest thing to get out. If he feels he can whoop me, why
can't he do it with the gloves on?
"I just praise the Lord it's not worse than it is. I thought my
ear fell off."
After the fight, as Holyfield was being interviewed, a chunk of his
right ear was seen to be missing and he was expected to see a
plastic surgeon for treatment.
Lane also warned Holyfield in the second round for an accidental
head butt that opened a cut over Tyson's right eye.
After the fight was stopped, Tyson complained to referee Mills Lane
and then charged across the ring to Holyfield's corner as the ring
filled with security people. He never got to Holyfield, but he did
hit a police officer before being pulled away.
Several seconds after the ruckus was stopped, another broke out as
Tyson again tried to get across the ring. He was stopped and
Holyfield and his entourage left the ring.
Holyfield (34-3 with 23 knockouts) wore purple, red and white trunks
with the word "Warrior" across the waistband, while Tyson (45-3, 39
knockouts) wore his trademark black trunks.
The sellout crowd of 16,331 in the MGM Grand Garden was in an uproar
from the time the fighters entered the ring.
Tyson came out more cautiously than in the first fight when he
rocked Holyfield with the first punch, a right to the head, and he
tried to box. But Holyfield had the best of the round with a couple
punches to the head.
In the second round, Tyson was cut at the corner of the right eye by
what Lane ruled was an accidental head butt. Holyfield had the best
of the round, which was marked mostly by holding and mauling.
Then came the weird and wild third round. Early in the round, Tyson
landed several short punches to the head that moved Holyfield back
and he was controlling the round when he bit Holyfield on the ear.
The champion jumped up and down in anger and turned away.
"Holyfield's not the tough warrior everyone says he is," Tyson said
after the fight. "He gets one knick on him and quits. I got one
eye and I'm ready to fight right now."
Tyson had a large cut over his right eye.
Holyfield won the first bout between the two fighters by technical
knockout on Nov. 9, 1996, a stunning result that opened the door
for the massive buildup to Saturday's fight. Holyfield's victory in
that fight enabled him to join Muhammad Ali as the only three-time
title-holders in the heavyweight division.
Both fighters weighed in Thursday at exactly 218 pounds. Holyfield
was three pounds heavier than the first fight while Tyson was four
pounds lighter than the original bout in November.
Tyson was a 2-1 betting favorite for Saturday's fight.
Holyfield earned at least $35 million for the fight, while Tyson got
$30 million.
Whether the wild fight will lead to a third match between the two
was unclear.

Shots fired in post-fight chaos
LAS VEGAS -- Thousands of people panicked late Saturday night when
shots were fired at the MGM Grand Hotel following a heavyweight fight
between Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson.
Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Steve Harney said no one was wounded
during the 10:30 p.m. shooting. Metro Police sealed off a
two-block-long strip of Tropicana Avenue to try and disperse the
crowd.
However, Mercy Ambulance spokeswoman Jeanette Cutolo said 11 people
were injured, but it was unknown whether they were shooting victims.
Two ambulances remained on the scene early Sunday. She said there were
no fatalities.
More than 200 police officers and hotel security guards worked to
clear the jammed hotel lobby as people ran through hallways.
Restaurants in the 5,000-room hotel shut their doors to keep unwanted
people out.
The hotel's theme park was closed about 11 p.m. Panic ensued as
restless fight fans began flooding through the hotel when the fight
was stopped after the third round when Tyson twice bit Holyfield on
his ears.
The more than 16,000 fans who witnessed the fight in the MGM Grand
Garden then began exiting the hotel and into the parking lot, mingling
with thousands of others who were in the Strip resort. Traffic was at
a standstill.
Last September, rapper Tupac Shakur was shot and wounded after
watching the Mike Tyson-Bruce Seldon heavyweight championship fight at
the MGM Grand.
After the Tyson-Seldon match Shakur went to the home of Death Row
Records chairman Marion "Suge" Knight before returning to the Strip,
where he was shot. Shakur died at a hospital a few days later.

Hotel worker finds piece of Holyfield's ear
LAS VEGAS -- A hotel worker gave Evander Holyfield a present after his
fight with Mike Tyson -- the piece of his ear that Tyson bit off in
the third round.
Mitchell Libonati went into the ring after the fight ended in chaos
after the third round and found the piece of ear on the canvas.
He wrapped it in latex gloves and took it to Holyfield's dressing
room, where he told his camp:
"I have something he probably wants."
Libonati described the ear as "not bloody, like a piece of sausage."
Holyfield was taken to Valley Hospital after the fight, where surgeons
were expected to try to fix his ear. It was not know if they would use
the part Libonati found.
"All I wanted out of it was to meet Evander," said Libonati, who
worked the fight as a glove cutter and ring cleaner.

Biting remarks from the fight
LAS VEGAS -- Quotes from Holyfield-Tyson II, during which Mike Tyson
was disqualified for twice biting Evander Holyfield's ears in the
third round:
From Jaws of Iron Mike: Mike, your kids won't be afraid of you because
you have a cut above your eye. They will be scared because they just
saw their daddy gnaw on another guy's ear.
From King: Tyson will get a rematch with Buster Douglas. I saw him
eyeing Buster's tasty lobes at ringside!
From 15 Million Per Bite: Two bites don't make a right.
From Supporter: Sorry, everybody, but I have to stick up for Mike a
little. You can only get head-butted and punched in the groin so many
times before you snap.
From KFarr33: Does anyone realize the scam that we have just been
through? Don King wins again, and he will expect us to pay $75 for
these two yahoos to fight again. I will personally step up and boycott
any fight that Don King promotes.
Judge Duane Ford: "He bit a hunk out of his ear and spit it out on the
floor."
Evander Holyfield: "The first time, my corner told me to just keep
cool. Then he spit his mouthpiece out and bit me again. I'm happy that
we have a referee like Mills Lane to disqualify him.
"The whole thing is, I believe that fear itself causes people to do
the quickest thing to get out. If he feels he can whup me, why can't
he do it with the gloves on?
" I just praise the Lord it's not worse than it is. I thought my ear
had fallen off.
"I can't understand the biting, and he was trying to break my arm.
Those are illegal tactics. He fouled in every way."
Mike Tyson: "He butted me in the first round and again in the second
round. He looked right at me and came right up into me.
"Holyfield's not the tough warrior everyone says he is. He gets one
nick on him and quits. I got one eye (after a bad cut) and I'm ready
to fight right now.
"Regardless of what I did, he had been head-butting for two fights. I
addressed it in the ring. No one took points from him (for butting).
What am I supposed to do? This is my career. I got children to raise.
... I got to retaliate.
"Look at me! My kids will be scared of me!"
Referee Mills Lane: "The first bite you could actually see the teeth
marks and the dent in the ear. The bite itself was cosmetically bad,
but the fight could go on.
"They got in another skirmish and I looked at Evander's ear, and I
could see another bite mark and I said that's it.
"I thought about it long and hard, but then decided it's the right
thing to do."
Don Turner, Holyfield's trainer: "It's the most unbelievable thing
I've ever seen in all my years of boxing."
Jim Thomas, Holyfield's attorney, when asked about a rematch: "Evander
will decide that and Evander alone. There is one obstacle: I don't
know where Tyson will get a license to box. He's on probation, and he
committed a criminal act in the ring."

Mike gets waxed
They said it was a gnawing decision, but officials at the Hollywood
Wax Museum swallowed hard and did it: They moved the Mike Tyson wax
statue from the Sports Hall of Fame section to the "Chamber of
Horrors."
Tyson now stands next to Hannibal "the Cannibal" Lecter, the
people-eater of "Silence of the Lambs" fame.
Owner Raubi Sundher said the demotion just "seemed like the right
thing to do."
Seems many patrons complained Tyson's statue didn't belong next to
Michael Jordan and Larry Bird anymore, after Tyson gnawed on Evander
Holyfield's ears in the ring Saturday.
