strane Harper-a).

To najbolje govori odnos izgubljenih lopti, a i blokada
(Longli-4, Pipen-3).

BULLS USE FINAL QUARTER TO PHONE IN VICTORY
CHICAGO -- It was a perfect opportunity for the Seattle SuperSonics to
stun the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night, but they couldn't pull it
off.
After giving the Bulls all they could handle for three periods, the
Sonics faded badly in the fourth quarter and lost to Chicago 107-90 in
Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Game 2 will be played Friday night in Chicago.
The Bulls outscored the Sonics 14-5 to start the fourth quarter and
take a 93-82 lead. The Bulls pulled away as the quarter wore on, and
their biggest margin was at the final buzzer.
"It was a feeling-out game," Chicago coach Phil Jackson said. "A game
where both teams came to terms with each other. We finally found a
rhythm late in the game, in the fourth quarter, and we took control."
Said Seattle coach George Karl: "They have a great tendency as the
game goes on to build their pressure. We got more tentative and they
got more aggressive. They won that battle of aggressiveness big-time."
Michael Jordan led Chicago with 28 points and Scottie Pippen added 21.
Toni Kukoc scored 18 points, sparking Chicago early in the fourth
quarter with a pair of 3-point baskets, one that resulted in a
four-point play.
"His seven points were huge," Karl said of Kukoc. "We had confidence
in the game at that point."
Dennis Rodman grabbed 13 rebounds for Chicago. Center Luc Longley
carried the Bulls early, scoring eight of his 14 points in the first
quarter.
Shawn Kemp led Seattle with 32 points -- only two in the fourth
quarter -- and Sam Perkins added 14. But the Sonics came up short off
the bench as the game wore on because forward Frank Brickowski was
ejected late in the first half and Nate McMillan was able to play only
6 minutes because of a back injury.
Seattle turned the ball over 18 times compared to only seven for the
Bulls.
"Turnovers and bench scoring were the key factors," Jackson said.
After struggling for three quarters, the Bulls finally heated up in
the fourth, shooting 61 percent and limiting Seattle to 28 percent
shooting. Seattle was still close, trailing 93-86 with 5 minutes 41
seconds remaining, but the Bulls then scored the next eight points.
Chicago, shooting poorly as it tried to shake the cobwebs from an
eight-day layoff, led 24-18 after one quarter. Chicago shot only 37.5
percent in the first period but Seattle was worse, shooting 35
percent.
"The thing that was missing was not our wind, but our continuity on
offense," Jordan said.
The natives grew restless in the United Center as Seattle, behind
eight points by Perkins, rallied to take a 32-28 lead in the first 4
minutes of the second quarter.
A 3-pointer by Jordan helped Chicago regain a 35-34 lead. The lead
changed hands six times after that before Chicago settled for a 53-48
halftime lead.
Things heated up late in the first half after Brickowski entered the
game for Seattle with 3:12 left. His job, as expected, was to mess
with Rodman, who sported a new multicolored hairstyle.
Brickowski picked up a flagrant foul for nailing Rodman with an elbow
to the throat with 1:27 left. Brickowski was then whistled for a
double technical and an ejection after jawing with Rodman and
Chicago's Jack Haley, who was on the bench in street clothes.
Brickowski yelled to Haley, asking if he was Rodman's "(expletive)
baby sitter."
Jordan and Kemp scored 18 points each in the first half. Chicago
stretched its lead to 67-56 early in the third quarter, but Seattle
wouldn't go away. The Sonics dropped in 10 free throws and took
advantage of an 0-for-6 Chicago drought to pull within 72-71 with 2:50
remaining.
Seattle tied the score at 75-75, but the Bulls led 79-75 after three
periods.
Jordan spent a long stint on the bench in the third.
"I didn't like the third quarter," Jackson said. "I took Michael out
to give him a rest so he'd have the energy in the fourth."
Said Jordan, "The fourth quarter is desire, execution, maintaining the
pressure. They succumbed to that pressure tonight."

poena(dve vezane trojke).
Dakle, Chicago - Seattle u drugoj utakmici 92:88 :(((((((((
A to je 2:0 za Chicago...

RODMAN RESCUES STRUGGLING BULLS WITH 20 BOARDS
CHICAGO -- The rock of the Chicago Bulls ... Dennis Rodman?
With his teammates struggling on Friday, it was Rodman to the rescue,
rebounding many of the Bulls' errant shots, scrambling for loose
balls, forcing jump balls, and hitting the clinching free throw as the
Bulls overcame a sluggish fourth quarter to defeat the Seattle
SuperSonics 92-88.
Rodman tied an NBA Finals record with 11 offensive boards and finished
with 20 total as Chicago took a 2-0 series lead. Toni Kukoc hit two
3-pointers in a crucial third-quarter spurt and Michael Jordan chipped
in with 29 points.
Game 3 is Sunday in Seattle and the SuperSonics will now try to become
the first team to rally from a 2-0 deficit since the 1977 Portland
Trail Blazers rallied to win four straight and beat the Philadelphia
76ers. Seattle will host the next three games.
Scottie Pippen added 21 points, but missed two crucial free throws
with 8.9 seconds to play that could have iced the game. Dennis Rodman,
who finished with 10 points and 20 rebounds, forced a jump ball with
Sam Perkins off the second miss.
After three attempted jumps, Rodman and the Bulls finally won the tip
after a scramble. Rodman was fouled and made the second shot to ice
the game. Rodman's 11 offensive rebounds tied an the Finals record set
by Elvin Hayes of the Washington Bullets on May 27, 1979, against
Seattle.
The Bulls held on despite not make a field goal in the game's final
6:11 and sinking only eight of 17 free throws in the fourth quarter.
But Seattle could counter with only two hoops in the final five
minutes.
Shawn Kemp had 29 points and Hersey Hawkins 16 for Seattle, which
trailed by 13 points in the fourth quarter but cut the lead to 91-88
with 12.3 seconds left after two Kemp free throws.
Kukoc, who was the hero in Game 1 when he scored 10 consecutive
Chicago points, took the game over again at the end of the third
quarter in a 10-1 run over the final 2:25.
After Gary Payton pulled Seattle within 66-64 on a fadeaway jumper
with 2:38 remaining in the third quarter, Kukoc hit his first
3-pointer to make it 69-64. Kemp made a foul shot with 2:12 left to
make it 69-65, but Kukoc drained a 3-pointer from the right baseline
to open Chicago's lead to 72-65.
Jordan's steal led to an uncontested dunk by Pippen that made it 74-65
and after a miss by Perkins, Jordan led a fast break and zipped a pass
to a cutting Kukoc, who threw down a dunk for a 76-65 lead.
The Bulls took their largest lead of the game at 80-67 when Randy
Brown hit a jumper with 9:37 remaining. Unlike Game 1, the Sonics
refused to fold, methodically going on a 14-5 run to pull within 85-81
with 4:13 to play after Kemp converted a 3-point play.
Jordan made two free throws to make it 87-81 with just under four
minutes to go, but the teams went scoreless until Jordan hit a foul
shot with 91 seconds to go to push the lead back to seven points.
Kemp followed a miss by Detlef Schrempf and was fouled, pulling within
88-84 with 1:14 left. Jordan and Schrempf traded free throws to make
it 90-86 with 48 seconds remaining.
On the ensuing possession, Kerr missed a 3-pointer, but Rodman, who
had eight points and 10 rebounds in the third quarter alone, pulled
down the offensive rebound that tied him with Hayes.
Kukoc made one free throw to make it 91-86 with 15 seconds left and
Kemp hit two foul shots three seconds later to make it 91-88. Pippen
was fouled and bounced the first free throw off the rim. His second
attempt missed badly but Rodman was able to tie up Perkins to force
the jump ball.
Chicago looked nothing like the team that won 72 games down the
stretch, failing to apply its usually fatal grip on the game after
posting a double-digit lead. Kukoc's putback off a Longley miss with
6:11 left that gave Chicago an 84-76 lead was the final basket by the
Bulls, who missed their final eight shots from the field.
The Sonics, who were just one for 12 from the field in the final five
minutes of Game 1, were only two of eight from the field down that
same stretch on Friday.
The Bulls had threatened to blow the game open early in the third
quarter, taking a 63-56 lead after an 11-4 run that saw Pippen and
Rodman score four points apiece.
Seattle used an 8-1 run at the end of the first quarter to take a
27-23 lead. Kemp had 10 points in the quarter, but Perkins keyed the
run with a pair of hook shots. Chicago was able to take a 46-45 lead
at halftime on a 3-pointer by Jordan with 41 seconds to go.

I opet 10x to vpoznanovic:
THE INEVITA-BULLS!
SEATTLE -- Michael Jordan scored 27 of his 36 points in the first
half as the Chicago Bulls moved within one win of their fourth NBA
title in six years with a demoralizing 108-86 victory over the
Seattle SuperSonics.
Jordan, limited to 28 and 29 points in the first two games of
the series, finally had the game Chicago was anticipating and
Seattle was fearing. He eclipsed 30 points for the 10th time in
his last 12 Finals games and moved the Bulls to the brink of NBA
history.
"I was just going to come out and play and let my basketball do
the talking," Jordan said.
Chicago, which won a record 72 games during the regular season,
improved to 14-1 in the post-season with its ninth consecutive
triumph. It is the longest single-season streak since the Los
Angeles Lakers won their first 11 games in 1989 and places the
Bulls in position to surpass the top playoff record of 12-1 set
by the 1983 Philadelphia 76ers.
Luc Longley added a playoff career-high 19 points for Chicago,
which showed none of the flaws displayed in winning the first
two games at home. The Bulls scored the first seven points and
never trailed by less than 11 after the opening four minutes.
Detlef Schrempf scored 20 points for the Sonics, who were trying
to parlay a strong defensive effort at the end of Game Two and a
return to Key Arena into a chance to get back into the series.
Instead, Seattle enters Game Four on Wednesday with its first
three-game losing streak since last year's first-round playoff
exit and will try to avoid becoming the second straight Finals
sweep victim and the third in seven years.
The Sonics won 64 games during the regular season -- the 10th
best record in history -- but no team has rallied from a 3-0
deficit to win any NBA playoff series.
Seattle All-Stars Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton were shut down.
Kemp, who scored 61 points in the first two games, was hampered
by foul trouble and managed just 14. Payton had his third
straight sub-par game, scoring 19 meaningless points.
Any energy the Sonics hoped to derive from playing at home was
quickly defused by the Bulls, who scored 13 of the first 15
points. Jordan and Longley scored four points apiece in the
opening burst.
Two more baskets by Longley -- who has thoroughly outplayed his
counterpart, Ervin Johnson -- pushed the lead to 25-10 with 3:41
left before a dunk by Perkins.
Jordan made a jumper, a three-pointer and a steal before feeding
Scottie Pippen with a beautiful behind-the-back pass for an easy
dunk to boost the lead to 32-12 with 1:35 to go.
The Sonics forced jumpers and shot just 39 percent (7-of-18)
from the field. They also committed seven turnovers to none for
the Bulls, who shot 50 percent (14-of-28) and led 34-16 after
one period. Jordan scored 12 points in the quarter.
The injuries evened up as Bulls guard Ron Harper joined Sonics
swingman Nate McMillan on the sidelines. Harper did not start
due to a sore left knee. He made a brief appearance late in the
first quarter but quickly returned to the bench.
"There are very experienced team that wanted to come out and
make a statement early," McMillan said. "They shot the ball
well and the defense was there."
An 11-0 run by Seattle -- featuring a technical foul against
Chicago's Dennis Rodman -- closed the deficit to 34-23, but Bill
Wennington's jumper and Randy Brown's three-pointer pushed
Chicago's lead back to 16 points.
Schrempf got hot, scoring eight straight Seattle points to pull
the Sonics within 45-31 with 4:54 to go. But Schrempf kicked a
pass out of bounds and Frank Brickowski threw away an outlet
pass before Jordan again took over.
He made four straight free throws and matched four points by
Kemp with a pair of jumpers before sinking a long three-pointer.
Perkins made three free throws around Jordan's jumper and two
more free throws by Jordan rebuilt the lead to 22 points in the
final minute of the half. Pippen's runner with 6.5 seconds to
go gave Chicago a 62-38 halftime advantage.
Jordan shot 8-of-16 from the field and 8-of-8 from the line in
the first half, nearly matching his point total from each of the
first two games in Chicago.
Meanwhile, Seattle was 0-of-8 from three-point range, continuing
its poor outside shooting in the series. Through the first 2
1/2 games, the Sonics were 8-of-39 (21 percent) from behind the
arc.
But Chicago cooled off and Seattle got hot in the third quarter.
After Longley opened the period with a basket to give the Bulls
their largest lead at 26 points, they managed only a layup from
Jordan over the next eight minutes.
Hersey Hawkins scored seven points in a 16-2 burst that closed
the deficit to 66-54 with 3:33 to go. But Seattle couldn't get
closer and Chicago took a 75-61 advantage into the final period.
Any chance the Sonics had ended right there. Jordan scored,
Kerr made a foul shot after a technical against Payton and
Jordan completed a three-point play as the lead ballooned to 20
points with 11:08 to go.
"We pretty much controlled everything tonight," Jordan said.
"They made a big run at us in the third quarter but we took back
control and played a solid fourth quarter."
The only further interest was created by Rodman and Brickowski,
who engaged in several shoving matches before Brickowski earned
his second ejection of the series with 5:46 to go. Brickowski
also was ejected after a similar altercation with Rodman in Game
One.
"Seattle is off their game," Rodman said. "They're trying to
get into my head but they don't understand you can't mess with
the master. You can't mess with the master."

Jordana,Pippena i Kukoca u sutu i Rodmana u skoku, pobediti bar jedan
mec...

U Cikagu, u prvom poluvremenu nije bilo raspolozenog igraca. Izgleda
cenim posebno, igrao odlicno... Ali, Seattle se raspucao sa linije za
3 poena (u prvom poluvremenu 3 trojke Paytona i po jedna Mcmilana,
Perkinsa i Vindgejta).

I sve ovo naravno, uz zahvalnost vpoznanovicu ...
BULLS CAN'T MAKE HISTORY OF SONICS
SEATTLE -- Gary Payton had 21 points and 11 assists and the Seattle
SuperSonics played the best defensive quarter in NBA Finals history
in a 107-86 victory over the Chicago Bulls, who were denied a
championship sweep.
The SuperSonics, limited to no more than 90 points in losing the
first three games, shut down Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and
the rest of the Bulls, who will have to wait until Game Five on
Friday for another shot at their fourth NBA title in six years.
The vaunted defense of the Sonics -- a forgotten aspect of this
series -- finally showed up in record fashion. Seattle limited
Chicago to 11 points in the second quarter, matching the fewest
in Finals history. The New York Knicks also scored 11 points in
the third quarter against the Los Angeles Lakers on April 30th,
1972.
"I guess we're entitled to one bad game," said Jordan, who
managed 23 points on 6-of-19 shooting. "Nothing went right for
us tonight. Everything went wrong. We never really could catch a
break."
The Sonics opened a 25-21 lead after one quarter to 53-32 at
halftime. The advantage never dipped below 13 points and got as
big as 27 early in the fourth quarter.
Pippen was held to nine points on 4-of-17 shooting. Dennis
Rodman grabbed 14 rebounds but was not a factor with his play or
his psychological tactics. The Bulls matched their lowest total
of the post-season.
"I think you have to give Gary a lot of credit for the way he
played Michael tonight," said Seattle guard Hersey Hawkins, who
scored 18 points and took a turn guarding Jordan. "Gary didn't
win Defensive Player of the Year for nothing. He had a great
defensive game tonight."
"Gary was a lot more aggressive from start," said Sonics forward
Shawn Kemp, who had another outstanding game with 25 points and
11 rebounds. "He shot the ball well, too. His defense was
tremendous tonight. He probably won game for us."
Sam Perkins scored 17 points and Detlef Schremp added 14 for the
Sonics, who ended their longest losing streak of the season and
avoided an embarrassing sweep at the hands of the Bulls, who
were denied a piece of history.
Chicago, which won a record 72 games in the regular season, had
won nine consecutive playoff games to boost its post-season mark
to 14-1. A win would have surpassed the 1983 Philadelphia 76ers
(12-1) for the best playoff percentage.
It marked the first time since 1951 that a team holding a 3-0
lead did not win Game Four. However, no team has ever erased an
0-3 deficit to win any playoff series.
"This team's got to beat us three more times," Jordan said.
"We're not saying they can't do it, but we feel very confident."
The Bulls began as poorly as the Sonics did in Game Three. A
jumper by Hersey Hawkins gave Seattle its largest lead of the
series at 15-8 with 4:13 left in the period.
Payton scored eight points and Kemp and Hawkins six apiece as
the Sonics grabbed a 25-21 lead after one period, holding Jordan
to three points.
Seattle swingman Nate McMillan, who missed Games Two and Three
with a sciatic nerve, returned in late in the first quarter and
gave the team a defensive boost.
"It's good emotional lift (with him out there)," Kemp said. "I
think he helps Gary out in a number of ways."
"I think they were a step faster than we were tonight," Pippen
said. "They were very active, beating us to the loose balls.
They came ready to play."
Payton scored five points in an 11-0 burst that began the second
quarter and boosted the lead to 36-21 with 9:25 remaining.
A three-pointer by Sam Perkins ballooned the lead to 47-29 with
3:30 remaining. He added another jumper with 37 seconds to go
that gave Seattle a 53-32 halftime advantage.
Chicago shot just 38 percent (13-of-34) in the first half while
Seattle shot 51 percent (22-of-43). Jordan was 3-of-9.
"I was very frustrated," said Jordan, who had four turnovers and
a flagrant foul. "I think we all were. We couldn't get anything
to go our way."
The Bulls opened the third quarter with a charge. After Payton
scored, Toni Kukoc had five of his 14 points in a 7-0 run before
a banker by Kemp. Rodman had a tip-in and Jordan made a pair of
technical foul shots to cut the deficit to 57-43 with 8:31 left.
Payton and Kukoc traded baskets before Seattle ran off eight
straight points to rebuild the lead to 67-45 with 5:42 to go.
Kemp had a three-point play and an inside basket in the spurt.
"Shawn Kemp was making some great shots in the post," Bulls
coach Phil Jackson said. "They seemed to respond every time."
Jordan missed six straight shots before he finally found his
range, scoring nine of Chicago's next 17 points as the Bulls
closed to 75-62 with 1:38 left in the period. But McMillan's
three-pointer triggered a 9-1 burst that closed the quarter and
gave Seattle an 84-63 lead.
"I think he was a very emotional lift for them," Jordan said.
"He gave them some real good minutes."
A three-pointer by Randy Brown cut the deficit to 18 points, but
Payton made a foul shot, Schrempf and Hawkins had three-pointers
and Hawkins made a layup to give Seattle a 95-68 lead.
McMillan had eight points, including two three-pointers, in 14
minutes. The Sonics had 25 assists and just 15 turnovers while
forcing the Bulls into 17 turnovers, including four by Jordan.
Luc Longley scored 12 points and Brown added nine. Chicago shot
just 40 percent (32-of-80), including 6-of-24 from three-point
range.

I sve što ide uz njih:
FOURTH-QUARTER BURST CARRIES SONICS BACK TO CHICAGO
SEATTLE -- Shawn Kemp had 22 points and 10 rebounds and the Seattle
SuperSonics used an 11-0 fourth-quarter run to again stave off
elimination and defeat the Chicago Bulls, 89-78, in Game Five of
the NBA Finals.
Seattle's second straight win shifts the series back to Chicago
for Game Six on Sunday, where the Bulls won the first two games
by a combined 21 points and will have a chance to clinch their
fourth NBA title in six years.
"I just wish we could have gotten this confidence early in the
series," said Seattle coach George Karl, whose team has held
Chicago to an average of 82 points in the last two games after
allowing 102.3 points in the three losses.
"I think the team's very disappointed," said Chicago guard
Michael Jordan. "We just didn't finish it in the fourth
quarter. We just didn't make any shots. They did a good job of
defending their home court."
No team has ever rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff
series, but the SuperSonics will bid to become the sixth team to
force a decisive seventh game and the first since the Denver
Nuggets won Games Four, Five and Six against the Utah Jazz in
the 1994 Western Conference semifinals.
"Our team showed class, pride and heart," said Seattle guard
Hersey Hawkins. "Shawn has had a great series. I don't think
they have anyone who can guard him."
"We knew we didn't want them to celebrate on our court," said
Seattle point guard Gary Payton. "We knew they were getting a
little bit tired and we had to keep the pressure on them and
keep running. We're playing better defense and shooting the
ball a lot better and not turning the ball over as much."
Jordan scored 26 points but only two in the fourth quarter for
Chicago, which has lost consecutive games for only the second
time this season. The Bulls missed 20 consecutive three-point
attempts until Scottie Pippen hit one with less than three
minutes left.
"We had the looks," Jordan said. "We just rushed 'em and didn't
knock the shots down. Hopefully we'll get in our building and
the shots will fall."
The Bulls have been held to consecutive playoff scoring lows in
Games Four and Five. Chicago's only other losing streak came at
at Denver and Phoenix on February 4th and 6th.
Pippen pulled the Bulls within 71-69 with a follow layup with
8:01 to play, but he missed a potential go-ahead three-pointer
and Seattle's Detlef Schrempf hit two free throws with 6:48 to
go to trigger the burst.
Schrempf added a twisting, fadeaway jumper to extend the lead to
75-69 and Gary Payton converted a jumper to make it 77-69 at the
5:13 mark. Following a miss by Toni Kukoc, Payton drilled a
three-pointer from the top of the key and Hawkins hit a layup to
give Seattle an 82-69 lead with less than four minutes to play.
Three-pointers by Pippen and Steve Kerr and a free throw by Luc
Longley pulled Chicago within 84-78 with 1:55 left, but Seattle
made five free throws down the stretch to hold on.
Payton had 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists for Seattle,
which shot 42 percent (29-of-69) from the floor and outscored
the Bulls from the foul line, 25-17. Hawkins added 21 points
and Schrempf finished with 13.
Nate McMillan, who has played the last two games despite a
painful sciatic nerve, made his only shot from the field and
pulled down six rebounds in 21 minutes.
Pippen finished with 14 points, but was a horrid 5-of-20 from
the field, including 1-of-8 from three-point range. Kukoc and
Luc Longley added 11 points apiece for Chicago, which shot 38
percent (29-of-77) from the field and 3-of-26 from three-point
range.
"We need to be more aggressive taking the ball to the basket,"
said Chicago coach Phil Jackson. "I think our guys ran out of
gas. Scottie couldn't find rhythm in his shot tonight. He had
some tough situations where he maybe rushed his shot."
"We're getting more comfortable with their offense, and their
cuts, and their cuteness," added Karl. "They run their offense
as well as anybody in basketball, but we're starting to build
our pressure more. I think it's a lot of heart. Our guys have
shown some class. We now know how to beat them."
Kerr, who entered the game 1-for-13 from three-point range in
the Finals, made just 1-of-7 from beyond the arc. Chicago is
27-for-112 (24.1 percent) from three-point range in the Finals.
The Sonics had threatened to run away with the game, taking a
51-44 lead with 8:02 to play in the third quarter on two free
throws by Kemp, but Jordan keyed an 11-1 run with five points
and the Bulls took a 55-52 lead on a jumper by Bill Wennington
with 4:51 remaining. Seattle reeled off seven consecutive
points on four free throws by Sam Perkins around a three-pointer
by Schrempf.
Seattle had taken a 39-34 lead on a layup by Schrempf, but
Jordan responded with a pair of jumpers around a free throw by
Bill Wennington to tie the game at 39-39. Jordan scored 11
points in the second quarter, but Seattle held a 43-42 lead at
intermission behind 14 points from Kemp.
Kukoc and Jordan combined for 13 points in the first quarter and
gave Chicago an 18-12 lead, but Hawkins countered with a
three-pointer from the left baseline and a three-point play in
the final 1:48 of the opening period to tie the game 18-18.
Kukoc again started in place of Ron Harper, who is still
bothered by a sore left knee. Harper entered the game, but
quickly left.

BULLS FINALLY HAVE TITLE FOR FAIRY-TALE SEASON
CHICAGO -- Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls completed a
record-breaking run to their fourth NBA championship in six years
with an 87-75 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics in Game Six of
the Finals.
Jordan scored 22 points as he returned to the top of the game he
and the Bulls ruled with three consecutive titles from 1991 to
1993. The scoring champion and Most Valuable Player proved all
he had to as he led Chicago to one of the greatest seasons of
all time.
The Bulls won a record 72 games during the regular season and
raced through the playoffs with a 15-3 record, going 87-13 over
a 100-game haul that began with last year's elimination in the
conference semifinals against the Orlando Magic. Jordan looked
rusty after returning from a 17-month retirement but he used the
1995-96 season to show he was still the best player in the
world.
"I'm sorry I was out for 18 months but I'm happy I'm back and
I'm glad I can bring a championship back to Chicago," said
Jordan, who shot 5-of-19 and was held to his lowest total in a
Finals game but added nine rebounds and sevan assists.
On Father's Day, Jordan remembered his father, James, who was
always at his son's side at this time of year but was murdered
in 1993, which prompted Michael Jordan's retirement.
"It can't even put it in words," he said, tears welling up in
his eyes. "This is for Dad."
Jordan dedicated himself to reclaiming the title, but it would
not have been possible without forward Dennis Rodman, who again
was instrumental with nine points and 19 rebounds, including 11
on the offensive end, tying the Finals record he also matched in
Game Two. Rodman and Jordan fueled a 15-4 third-quarter burst
that gave the Bulls control for good.
Jordan was named Finals MVP for the fourth time in his career
despite reaching 30 points just once in the series. Jordan got
six votes from an 11-member media panel and Rodman, who grabbed
double figures in rebounds in every game, received two.
Jordan departed in the final minute and hugged Scottie Pippen.
After the final seconds ticked away, he hugged Rodman, grabbed
the game ball and knelt to the United Center floor with Rodman
in thanks. All team members donned shirts that read "Greatest
Team Ever."
That statement came into question as the Bulls lost the previous
two games after winning the first three. With a chance to sweep
the SuperSonics and complete the best post-season run ever, the
Bulls were beaten badly twice and found themselves one loss away
from a dramatic Game Seven, a situation they faced just once in
their four championship seasons.
Scottie Pippen came out of a slump with 17 points and Game Three
hero Luc Longley added 12 as the Bulls grabbed the lead in the
first quarter and never let go. The gritty Sonics made several
runs but had nothing left in the fourth quarter, when Shawn Kemp
fouled out midway through the period.
Detlef Schrempf scored 23 points, Gary Payton added 19 and Kemp
had 18 and 14 rebounds for the Sonics, who won 64 games in the
regular season and became the winningest team to fail lose the
championship.
Seattle, trying to become the first team since the 1951 New York
Knicks to force a seventh game in the Finals after losing the
first three, took solace in being the only team to beat Chicago
three times this season.
"We know we didn't give it our best shot in a couple of games
this series," Seattle coach George Karl said. "We just could
never play well on this court. Our team's heart was very big and
we showed a lot of pride, but we just didn't shoot the ball,
pass the ball or rebound the ball we enough to beat Chicago on
its home court."
Karl's counterpart, Chicago's Phil Jackson, became the fourth
coach in league history to win four championships, joining Red
Auerbach (nine), John Kundla (five) and Pat Riley (four).
The Sonics cut a 17-point deficit to nine entering the fourth
quarter, but a pair of three-pointers by Toni Kukoc, the star of
Game One, boosted the lead to 75-63 with 9:06 to go.
Pippen added a banker and Kemp fouled out with 4:39 left. Pippen
made two three-pointers as the lead ballooned to 87-70 and the
celebration began.
But the game was decided in the third quarter, when Jordan and
Rodman asserted themselves and keyed the pivotal run, boosting a
six-point lead to 17.
Jordan and Longley scored and Harper sank a three-pointer after
a basket by Payton, building the lead to 56-45 with 8:35 left in
the period.
Jordan made two free throws and Schrempf scored before Rodman
made consecutive baskets, including a reverse layup as he drew a
foul. He made the free throw and Jordan added a layup as the
lead grew to 64-47 with 6:40 to go.
On the verge of a blowout, Seattle responded with nine straight
points. Sam Perkins -- who had played poorly to that point --
made two baskets and Payton hit a three-pointer before a jumper
by Kemp closed the margin to 64-56 with 2:52 to go.
The Bulls built a two-point lead to 27-18 early in the second
quarter as Jordan scored five points in a 9-2 burst. Seattle
battled back but Chicago then took control on both backboards.
Harper made two free throws before Longley, Pippen and Kukoc all
scored inside to boost the lead to 41-29 with 3:59 left in the
half. The baskets by Pippen and Kukoc came off offensive
rebounds.
The Sonics responded with an 8-0 burst, capped by Kemp's block
of Jordan and his layup at the other end to close the deficit to
four points in the final minute. Longley had a layup and
Jordan made two free throws around a foul shot by Perkins to
give the Bulls a 45-38 halftime lead.

Just a quick note to point out something you can tell everyone... The
Chicago Bulls Win With Macintosh!
The Chicago Bulls, 1996 NBA Champions have a secret weapon, the league's
most sophisticated computerized video coaching system based on Macintosh
and Newton.
In a secure dedicated room next door to the locker room at the United
Center, walls are filled with rack-mounted Macs digitizing the games'
video feed from multiple camera angles in real time. Like a scene from
mission control, a team of specialists sit in front of a wall of monitors
switching the cameras. Another group operates three Macs with 21" touch
screens running a custom front end that allows them to log each play, for
each team, along with player, location on the court and outcome.
This database is correlated to the SMPTE time code of the digital video
to provide instant random access of each play that needs to be analyzed.
A Newton is used on the bench to log scenes that coaches are interested
in and dumped into the database. At halftime, while in the locker room,
several Macs connected to a 52" big screen display are used to cue up,
slow-mo and review the critical plays from the first half, (ever wonder
why the Bulls always play better in the second half?). They even have a
custom-built Mac that accompanies them on the road. Having seen this
system in operation, it's very impressive.
So, sure the Bulls are now the World Champian NBA team due to players
like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippin and Dennis Rodman... but they also
have another competitive advantage-the Macintosh!

izazvalo veliku euforiju medju navijacima.

Dakle, on glasi:
Play: Jason Kidd, John Stockton,
Šuteri: Jeff Hornacek, Chris Mullin, Rex Chapman, Tim Legler
Krila: Dan Majerle, Frank Brickowski, Jeff Turner, Bryant Reeves
Centri: Rony Seikaly, Shawn Bradely, Will Perdue
valjda toliko nisko spali ...
P.S. Napomena, svi igrači su Amerikanci ... zato nisu došli u obzir Rik Smits,
Šremf, Kukoč, Murešan, Longli ;) i ostali ...
nba.1087lexus,

Kidd baš i nije sasvim belac.

a to nikako nije odlika šutera.

Jeste, on igra u Sakramentu, ali tu nema mnogo zapaženu ulogu, jer
koštao ulaska u play-off (nije igrao 10-15 utakmica zbog himne).
godine zbog povrede ramena (prvo), a zatim i povrede lakta.

Nije mi žao, naravno, bolji su i to debelo.
srediti i organizovati.
čak i rezultatski ugroziti. Možda..

I izveštaj sa drafta (10x to vp):
SIXERS PICK IVERSON ONE; 17 UNDERS IN 1ST ROUND OF NBA DRAFT
The Philadelphia 76ers tonight made Georgetown's Allen Iverson the
first point guard selected as the top overall pick in the NBA draft
since 1979 when the Los Angeles Lakers selected Magic Johnson out of
Michigan State.
A record 17 underclassmen, including the first seven picks, were
selected in the first round of the NBA Draft tonight at Continental
Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Toronto Raptors held true to their word and made Massachusetts
center Marcus Camby the second selection in the 1996 draft. Raptors
General Manager Isiah Thomas had said he would take Camby with the
second pick, even though many believed he would pick California
forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
The Vancouver Grizzlies used the third overall pick on Abdur-Rahim,
who left California after his freshman year.
The 6-0, 195-pound Iverson left Georgetown after his sophomore year
and is the fifth straight underclassmen to be selected first overall
in the draft.
Iverson will pair with Jerry Stackhouse, the third overall pick in the
1995 draft, to form perhaps the most exciting backcourt in the NBA.
"They just want me to come in and play my game, distribute the ball,"
said Iverson, who was criticized at times for shooting too much at
Georgetown. "They have great players on the team already in (Jerry)
Stackhouse and Derrick Coleman. They'd be crazy to think I'd come in
and try to take all the shots like I did at Georgetown."
Iverson, who is often compared to former Detroit Pistons great Isiah
Thomas, averaged 25 points, 4.7 assists and 3.35 steals in 37 games
for Georgetown this past season.
The 6-11, 220-pound Camby, who is projected as a power forward in the
NBA, swept all the National Player of the Year awards as a junior
after leading Massachusetts to a 35-2 record and the school's
first-ever trip to the Final Four. Camby averaged 20.5 points, 8.2
rebounds and 3.9 blocks for the Minutemen.
"People question what position I'll play, a three, four or a five, I
just see myself as a player," said Camby. "Just get me out on the
court and I'll play."
The 6-10, 220-pound Abdur-Rahim left California after his freshman
year and was highly coveted by Vancouver President and General Manager
Stu Jackson.
"With his versatility inside and outside, we've long considered
Shareef the perfect fit for the Grizzlies as we build the franchise
for long-term success," said Jackson.
Abdur-Rahim was the first freshman to be named Pac-10 Player of the
Year after averaging 21.6 points per game this past season. He also
averaged 8.7 rebounds and helped California to a 17-11 record and a
berth in the NCAA Tournament.
The Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off the biggest
draft day trade shortly after making their selections.
The Bucks took Georgia Tech point guard Stephon Marbury with the
fourth pick and the Timberwolves selected Connecticut shooting guard
Ray Allen with the fifth pick. The teams then swapped picks with the
Bucks receiving a future first round pick from Minnesota.
The Boston Celtics, who traded center Eric Montross to Dallas last
week to move up three spots from ninth to sixth in the draft, selected
Kentucky sophomore forward Antoine Walker.
The Los Angeles Clippers selected Memphis center Lorenzen Wright, who
is projected as a power forward in the NBA, with the seventh pick.
The New Jersey Nets ended the string of underclassmen by taking
Villanova shooting guard Kerry Kittles with the first pick of the John
Calipari era.
The Mavericks selected Louisville sophomore forward Samaki Walker with
the ninth pick. The Indiana Pacers selected Mississippi State junior
center Erick Dampier to round out the top 10.

Charlotte named Lee Rose as an assistant coach. Rose had been the vice
president of player personnel for Milwaukee for the last 4 seasons.
Negotiations between the NBA and Players Association for the new
collective bargaining agreement hit a snag Tuesday morning. The NBA asked
for the an extension of the moratorium on a freeze of trades and player
signings, but the Players Association refused. Thus the NBA issued a
lockout. Negotiations continued and an agreement was reached on the issue
of how $50 million in TV revenue was to be divided. The NBA then lifted
the lockout a mere 3 hours later. The moratorium was extended to Thursday
at 4 pm Central time. Both sides say that no more issues need to be
