mac.1965m.stevic,
mac.1966kmilan,
Ima li neko sveže cene Mac-ova? Kakvi su to AV modeli?
mac.1967askripka,
uključio pomoću control strip modula, a i appletalk control panela.

DoubleScroll 1.1.2 by Edward Voas
Shareware Information
DoubleScroll is a shareware product. You may try it out for 15 days. If you
like it, please send me $7 and IŇll send you a registration code to register
your copy. If you do not register it within 15 days, reminder messages will be
displayed when you start up.
All About DoubleScroll
DoubleScroll is a combination Extension/Control Panel which alters the way
your Macintosh scroll bars look and act. Basically it puts a double arrow on
each end of your scrollbars, allowing you to scroll in both directions without
having to move your mouse from one end of your desk to the other to scroll
back and forth. It works in both System 6 and 7, but it is really designed to
take advantage of the color scheme of the System 7 interface. In fact, this
text block has a DoubleScroll scroll bar on the right, whether or not
DoubleScroll is currently loaded. Try it out!
Svi znate (valjda ste nekada videli PC? :)) kako Word ima dve strelice
scroll bar-u. E, ovo programče vam daje istu tu mogućnost na Mac-u. Sad,
a Boga mi i miša. :)
d_scroll.sitmac.1969ljubisha,
selectorom. I taman kad sam završio posao oko pravljenja CDa i silnog

mac.1972madamov,
-> #1966, kmilan> Ima li neko sveže cene Mac-ova? Kakvi su to AV modeli?

Dobro me podseti, pogledao sam pre neki dan. Kod mene se edituju iz ResEdita

Fellow Macintosh Users:
I attended the Graphics of the Americas, an International Printing
Expostion in Miami, Florida this weekend. I went there with the thought
of seeing only companys with demos of presses, inks, and other pressroom
hardware.
Boy, I was wrong! Apple was there, with a large display in front of the
entrance to the convention center. They had at least eight Macs (most
featuring Pre-Press solutions) demoed there - I watched cerious people
step up to a Mac (clearly not knowing exactly what it was) and was
creating in Painter via a graphics tablet in five min. The Apple people
were helpful and kind, and gave away a TON of free stuff.
In addition, UMAX and PowerComputing clones were represented. As I walked
the convention floor, I noticed that demos the companys were giving to
ones who passed by were ALL doing it with Macs. I counted at least FOUR
DOZEN Apple Macintoshs, along with at least a dozen Mac clones.
Windows machines? I saw one. It was shutdown. I counted no one
representing Microsoft or the Windows platform.
Kudos to Apple for their presence. It was worth my trip. Macs clearly (as
if there was a doubt) RULE the Pre-Press market.

Further to Dave S's note that the most FA'dQs on Iomega's FAX Help system
relate to problems connecting a Zip drive to a PC, you might find it
amusing what a breeze it is for a PC Compatibility Card installed on a
Mac to read a Zip drive.
Without bothering to find any documentation from Iomega (is there any?),
and following the simple directions Apple provides in the PC
Compatibility Card's User's Guide for "mapping a drive" to a PC-formatted
hard disk, I attempted to get Damien (the PC inside my Mac) to read
from/write to the Zip drive. Inserting a Windows 95-formatted Zip disk
into the Zip drive, the icon that appeared on the desktop indicated that
the disk was a PC-formatted ejectable. In the "PC Setup" control panel,
the name of the disk appeared in the pop-up window for the "d:\>" drive,
so I selected it. When I switched to the PC (Apple + return), the disk
simply appeared as the "D:\>" drive, and was fully functional. No need
even to install Zip Tools for Windows. Total installation time, about 30
seconds.
P.S. And now to make the guy with the funny hat and goatee smile: d:)>

EveryWare announces Tango for FileMaker 2.1
Tango for FileMaker, the Web/database tool nominated for both a MacUser
MacEddy and MacWorld WorldClass award, has been upgraded
Macworld Expo, San Francisco, CA---January 7, 1997---EveryWare
Development Corp. today announced a new version of Tango for FileMaker.
Tango for FileMaker is a Web development tool used to integrate Macintosh
FileMaker Pro 3.0 databases with the Web. Tango for FileMaker utilizes a
visual drag-and-drop development environment to enable rapid creation of
Web-based applications. Tango for FileMaker has been nominated for both
the MacUser MacEddy and Macworld World Class awards, two of the most
highly respected awards in the Macintosh community.
Tango for FileMaker 2.1 provides developers with added functionality,
increased performance and decreased development time over the previous
1.6 version.
Tango for FileMaker's speed as been substantially enhanced. Due to
improved interaction with FileMaker Pro, typical database record addition
and update operations are now ten times faster than in the previous
version. As well, Tango for FileMaker now processes Tango meta tags 60%
faster, a new, intelligent document caching mechanism has been added, and
a WebSTAR API plug-in version of the server portion of Tango for
FileMaker is now included. Quarterdeck's WebSTAR API (WSAPI) is a faster,
more efficient alternative to the Common Gateway Interface (CGI).
Tango for FileMaker 2.1 offers developers many new meta tags allowing for
enhanced data manipulation capabilities and improved "if-then"
functionality.
Tango for FileMaker 2.1 also gives developers the option of including
"next/previous x records" functionality in their web applications. This
feature allows users to view large search result sets in multiple pages.
In keeping with Tango for FileMaker's acclaimed ease-of-use, this feature
can be added to new applications with a single mouse click.
The new version of Tango for FileMaker provides a new facility that
converts PICT formatted images from a FileMaker Pro database to JPEG
images on-the-fly. Including pictures from FileMaker Pro databases in
Tango-generated web pages is now as simple as dragging a field name in
Tango Editor, Tango for FileMaker's visual development environment.
Tango for FileMaker 2.1 also has the ability to access FileMaker Pro 3.0
databases from a remote machine over an AppleTalk network. This feature
allows the separating of the Web server from the database server,
increasing performance and easing administration.
Superior Scalability Features
Tango for FileMaker is a scalable application. Web developers can use
Tango for FileMaker to build Web-based applications with FileMaker Pro as
the back-end and then change the database to SQL Server, for example,
with little modification to the Tango-based application. These
scalability features are very important for developers implementing an
Intranet/Internet based strategy with large growth expectations.
About Tango for FileMaker
Tango for FileMaker has been nominated by MacUser magazine for "Best
Internet Server Application" and by MacWorld magazine for the 1997 World
Class award. Tango for FileMaker is sold through 12 countries with many
thousands of units shipped since it was first released. Tango for
FileMaker 2.1 comes complete with demonstration applications including an
on-line shopping solution, a seminar registration system, and a
conferencing application.
Price and availability
Tango for FileMaker 2.1 sells for $349 and is available directly from
EveryWare Development Corp. Tango for FileMaker will be available
mid-January 1997.
About EveryWare Development Corp.
EveryWare Development Corp. is committed to securing a leading position
in the Intranet Rapid Application Development (IRAD) market by providing
businesses with cross-platform development tools that dramatically reduce
the development time of Web-based applications. The company supports

I just finished reading the following BYTE article entitled "PowerPC
Speed Demon" and thought I'd pass it on. I would sure love to see my 9500
running at 533 MHz!
The URL is: <http://www.byte.com/art/9612/sec10/art1.htm>
Here are the first two paragraphs:
There's an old joke about a computer so fast it can execute an infinite
loop in 10 seconds. Exponential Technology's new PowerPC-compatible X704
chips aren't quite that fast, but their clock speeds of 466, 500, and 533
MHz make you wonder if that joke might come true.
You can bet that Intel isn't laughing. Exponential's CPUs will munch on
Pentium and Pentium Pro chips for breakfast. What's more, the X704
appears to have plenty of headroom for future performance gains. It's
actually a conservative design that doesn't push the limit of what's
possible.

This is very good news for Macintosh. The line of evangelism is:
Everybody knows that Microsoft is a really smart company, and it's
focusing more efforts on Macintosh software, so clearly Macintosh is a
viable platform.
Guy
Microsoft Announces New Macintosh Product Unit Company Reaffirms
Commitment to Macintosh Platform REDMOND, Wash. Jan. 7, 1997
Microsoft Corp. today announced the creation of the Macintosh product
unit, which will be responsible for the design and development of
Microsoft Office for the Macintosh.
The creation of the new Macintosh product unit, part of the Microsoft
desktop applications division, marks the first time in the history of the
division that an entire product unit has focused exclusively on the
Macintosh. The new Macintosh product unit also represents one of the
largest Macintosh development teams outside of Apple Computer Inc. Headed
by Ben Waldman, general manager, the new product unit numbers about 100
employees. Waldman most recently served as the development manager of the
Office product unit, where he led the development team responsible for
the core of Microsoft Office 97 for the Windows operating system.
Previously, he worked on three versions of Microsoft Excel for Windows
and Macintosh, leading the Microsoft Excel 5.0 for Macintosh project; he
also served as manager of Macintosh technology for Microsoft. Waldman
received a bachelor's degree in computer science summa cum laude from
Harvard University in 1989.
"When Apple's biggest third-party developer decides to commit new
resources to its Macintosh applications business, that's a pretty clear
sign that there's still money to be made in the Macintosh market," said
Jeffrey Tarter, publisher of Soft*Letter.
"Microsoft is committing more resources to the development of Office for
the Macintosh than ever before, and we're excited about building great
Macintosh applications," Waldman said. "I'm also looking forward to
working closely with Apple to ensure that we meet the needs of our mutual
customers."
Customer Benefits
The Macintosh product unit is dedicated to creating high-quality
applications for the Macintosh. The group will focus on creating
applications with high performance that meet the specific needs and
expectations of Macintosh users as identified through customer research
and evaluation. The team will also continue to ensure complete file
format compatibility between the Macintosh and Windows-based versions of
Microsoft Office.

Network Software Selector aplikaciju u Apple Extras folder). Ako nemaš
prevelike potrebe za Open Transportom (više konfiguracija, neki softver to
zahteva), koristi Classic Networking, naravno ukoliko možeš. Uštedećeš i nešto
memorije.
> Mora da ima nešto `kvarno`... Šta ti misliš?
Pa, i ja mislim da postoji neki catch zašto je to tako. Problem je što su to
evropski modeli, 8200 i 4400 ne postoje u USA, a odatle dobijamo većinu
informacija.
mac.2009madamov,
sve SCSI, uključujući i interni CD-ROM. Ništa novo, ovo Apple primenjuje još
od Quadre 630.
> imati standardne IBM konektore
imaju dva SCSI busa, i to noviji.
> Inače može se prikači i IBM tastatura i mouse
> (to je valda onaj ADB)
Jok, nije to ADB.

On ima

Dr. Gil Amelio's Keynote Address
Seems like you just couldn't escape it--no matter where you looked or
whom you talked to, someone had an opinion on Dr. Amelio's January 7
MACWORLD Expo San Francisco keynote address. Some liked it, some didn't.
Personally, we think Dr. Amelio accomplished what he set out to do--
reassure Mac OS users that Apple's platform has a viable growth path and
a promising future. Here's an excerpt from Dr. Amelio's speech and let
you decide for yourself--that is, if you don't already have an opinion
on it! The following paragraphs are quotes from his speech:
"We had some disappointing sales this holiday season. Normally, here at
Apple that would mean that we would go in and start changing our
strategy. A sort of 'strategy du jour.' We don't do that anymore. Our
earlier strategy decisions are still applicable. We're going to stay the
course.
"True, revenue in Q1 was less than we were looking for, but there was a
slowdown in consumer PC sales overall, so the anticipated Q1 results are
more about how we did in a tough U.S. consumer market than they are
about the fundamentals of our recovery. Elsewhere we had pretty good
sales: in PowerBooks, Power Macs, and servers. The balance sheet is
good. The fundamentals of our comeback are still strongly in place.
We're going to focus on the essentials for the long term. Without a
doubt we've hit some turbulence, but our course remains unchanged.
"Apple is on a three-year program. It hasn't changed. Last year was
about financials, operations, management, and quality issues. This year
is about products: to renew our product line, AND to continue working on
the business fundamentals. Year three is about continued improvement and
revenue growth.
"Now I'd like to talk about our OS strategy. I'm here to give you the
reassurance that we plan to preserve your investment. We want to offer a
balance--moving forward, AND protecting our installed base. These days
are similar to the transition from the 68K microprocessor [to] the
PowerPC microprocessor.
"This summer there will be a dramatic upgrade to Mac OS 7, code-named
"Tempo." It will include Java run time, Cyberdog 2.0, and the Copland
Finder. Tempo will be the most dramatically advanced user experience
since 1984. Mac leaps ahead once again in ease of use on System 7. After
Tempo, we've scheduled two major upgrades: Allegro and Sonata.
"[For the new operating system], we wanted to go beyond the minimum. We
wanted excitement factors. We assessed each of our options along 60
criteria and features. NeXT was the clear winner. NeXT was already far
ahead of its time and a very good fit for us. It completely complemented
our technology. It also offered improved administration, an
international-ready OS, advanced multimedia capabilities, superior
Internet opportunities, strength for the enterprise market, and the
opportunity for rapid application development. Oh--and Steve Jobs, of
course.
"[The new operating system] is code-named "Rhapsody." [It is] a fully
modern environment. Built on the NeXT OPENSTEP. We plan on fusing the
best of the Mac and NeXT technologies, which will include OpenDoc, QTML,
[and] Display PostScript plus GX.
"The Rhapsody Developer Release will come out this summer. It won't have
a compatibility module, since the goal is to get it into the developers'
hands as quickly as possible. [The] Rhapsody Premiere Release will be
scheduled for January 1998. [The] Rhapsody Unified Release is scheduled
for the summer of 1998.
"So, why buy a Mac today? Because every reason that brought you to Mac
in the first place is stronger today than ever; because the user
experience improves constantly; because of the performance improvements.
So you can transition to the new OS when it's ready. Because Apple
offers very rich and exciting possibilities.
"Why develop for Mac today? Because we're continuing the System 7
evolution; because we're committed to compatibility in Rhapsody; because
Rhapsody has advanced and compelling new features; [because] we will
offer development tools for a smoother transition; [because] developers
can leverage a single effort in a rapid cross-platform environment.
"Apple is famous for its devotion to the individual. I invite the
community to move forward with us. I pledge that Apple will provide
bridges of continuity to carry us ahead. But never doubt that there is a
chasm we must cross, one way or another. Introducing PowerPC gave us the
power to make the journey. But it takes software to unlock that power.
It's time to complete the modernization of the Macintosh. It's time to
move forward. The journey is the reward."

Mac OS-Based Computer Sales Grew 9 Percent During Q4 Ň96
According to AppleŇs preliminary estimates, Mac OS licensees sold
120,000 computers (+/- 10,000) from October through December of 1996,
bringing total quarterly Mac OS-based computer sales up to 1.043 million
units. This represents a 9 percent increase in Mac OS-based computers
sold over the previous quarter.
By looking at sales estimates from other manufacturers of Mac OS-based
computers, you can easily see the positive impact that these compatible
sales will have on your installed base in the coming years:
* Power Computing sold more than 100,000 units in its first year (better
than Compaq did in its first year).
* Motorola Computer Group shipped more than 40,000 StarMax Mac OS
compatibles from its mid-November first-shipment through December 1996.
According the Motorola, this number was Ďway beyond expectations.Ë
* Umax sold nearly 100,000 U.S. of Mac OS units during its first six
months of shipments. (Source: Umax/Edelman PR)
* DayStar shipped a few thousand Mac OS compatibles into the quad-
processor workstation market this year. A DayStar spokesperson said that
for every ĎSGI-equivalentË Mac compatible system that they ship, Apple
typically sells ten additional Mac OS support systems at a site.
All of this is good news for Apple developers, because it shows that the
overall market for Mac OS products IS GROWING, despite AppleŇs slip in
Performa sales last quarter. (For an explanation of Q4 results, see Gil
AmelioŇs statement included later in this news bulletin.) And though the
popular press paints a bleak picture of AppleŇs future, the companyŇs
market share is actually holding steady. International Data Corporation
(IDC) currently estimates that AppleŇs market share in 1996 was 6.6
percent, down only 0.2 percent over the previous year. To help put this
in perspective, Guy Kawasaki reports, ĎSony's market share for color TVs
in 1995 was 7 percent according to Appliance Manufacturer (April 1996,
p. 32); and Honda's is about 7 percent in the car business.Ë

Developers Stand by Their Macs
Dave Winer, computer industry pundit, recently published results of an
informal survey where self-selecting Macintosh developers commented on
their future platform development plans. The results: The overwhelming
majority of Apple developers plan to support the Mac OS platform during
the NeXT/Rhapsody operating system transition.
Based on nearly 2,000 web-based submissions, the following table shows
the percentages of Mac OS developers planning to support these operating
systems:
Future Development Plans
_________________________
OS Support------Yes--Unsure--No
Mac OS----------72%---13%---13%
Windows---------39%---20%---39%
NeXT------------71%---22%----5%
UNIX------------32%---28%---38%
Be--------------28%---41%---29%
Java------------56%---32%---11%
Though the number of Apple developers planning to support Mac OS dropped
slightly (6 percent) since WinerŇs last survey, there was an encouraging
jump in support for both the NeXT (8 percent) and Be (10 percent)
operating systems. ItŇs also interesting to note that the number of
Apple developers planning to support Windows DROPPED 10 percent.

Apple Reports First Fiscal Quarter Results
Apple just announced financial results for its fiscal 1997 first
quarter, which ended December 27, 1996. For the quarter, the company
generated revenues of $2.1 billion and unit sales of 923,000, a
sequential decline of 8 percent and 1 percent, respectively, from the
September quarter. The company recorded a net loss of $120 million for
the quarter ($.96 per share) compared to a profit of $25 million ($.20
per share) in the September quarter, and compared to a net loss of $69
million ($.56 per share) in the first fiscal quarter of 1996.
Apple achieved gross margins of 19 percent during the quarter, compared
to 22 percent in the September quarter and 15 percent in the
corresponding quarter a year ago. International sales constituted 56
percent of the company's quarterly revenues.
The company experienced shortfalls in its planned sales of consumer-
oriented Performa-branded systems in the United States during the
quarter. The weakness in demand for Performa products necessitated
aggressive pricing and rebate activities that adversely affected gross
margins. Those actions, coupled with the overall unit shortfall,
resulted in the significant loss for the quarter.
Based on first quarter results, the company plans to develop additional
restructuring programs during the second quarter with the goals of
reducing its break-even point to $8 billion in annual revenues and
enabling the company to return to profitability by the fourth fiscal
quarter, which ends September 26, 1997.

Amelio on AppleŇs Future
Developers concerned about AppleŇs future should read the following
excerpted letter, in which Apple CEO Gil Amelio talks about AppleŇs
recent earnings announcement and his optimism for the companyŇs future.
Ď1. Our fundamental strategy remains on track. Our three-year
transformation plan is sound, and we remain focused on executing that
plan. In 1996 we strengthened the company's financial position, ending
the calendar year with 1.8 billion in cash. 1997 is about revitalizing
the product line--and we're on track to have the most exciting new
product year in our history. 1998 is about growth.
Ď2. Our financial position remains strong. We have $1.8 billion in cash,
which we can use to fund the NeXT acquisition and other business
investments. We have many exciting product announcements scheduled for
1997, and have seen strength in demand for new products.
Ď3. Our disappointing results for the first quarter were the result of
specific issues: weak consumer demand for Performa machines in the
United States and constrained supply for some products. However, sales
of PowerBooks and high-end Power Macintosh systems exceeded our plans.
Total shipments in Europe were up more than 50 percent on a sequential
basis, while unit sales in Japan and Asia Pacific combined were
relatively comparable to sales in the September quarter. Our inventory
levels are very healthy, and we expect increased availability of
PowerBooks in the coming months.
Ď4. We've set the stage for long-term technology leadership with our
planned acquisition of NeXT. Our new operating system road map describes
how Apple will supply complementary operating systems in the coming
years by enhancing the current Mac OS, while building the new OS, code-
named ĎRhapsody.Ë Rhapsody will aim to integrate NeXT and Apple
technologies into an OS that aims to leapfrog Windows NT.
Ď5. Apple chose to build its new OS utilizing the NeXT technologies
because it believes that by embracing outside technology and cross-
platform industry standards, it can innovate in the key areas that give
its products and technology differentiation in a standards-based world.
NeXT's maturity, networking, customer and developer acceptance,
multitasking, protected memory, scalability from portable to server-
level products, information linking, and powerful object-oriented
architecture will give Apple the underpinning it needs to provide
differentiated multimedia and Internet leadership moving forward. This
approach should help Apple in all markets, especially the enterprise.
Apple is also confident that compatibility with existing applications
will be strong, both in Mac OS and Rhapsody, as they evolve.Ë

Dear Developers,
As you know, we recently announced our intention to acquire NeXT
Software, Inc. and deliver a new operating system based on NeXT and
Apple technology code-named Rhapsody. At Macworld San Francisco, we
shared our high level strategy and goals for this operating system. We
want to share as much information as possible when important decisions
have been reached.
At Macworld, we indicated that Rhapsody will be based on a robust
operating system foundation that features full preemptive multitasking,
memory protection, and SMP, and we committed to announce our choice for
the core OS within a month.
We have chosen to deliver these capabilities using the Mach kernel.
Apple completed a thorough evaluation of several options. Each of the
options had both technical and business strengths. Mach represents the
best balance of technology and business fit and maximizes our ability to
deliver on our stated goals for Rhapsody. We believe the Mach-based core
provides Apple and developers a compelling technology foundation in
which to build innovative and world class products.
Clearly, there are further technical decisions still to be made. We will
continue to update you on a continuing basis.

Apple Introduces Software-Only MPEG Movie Playback
Apple recently announced immediate availability of its QuickTime MPEG
(Motion Picture Experts Group) extension, which allows you to perform
full-screen, software-only playback of MPEG-1 and VideoCD audio/video
files on PowerPC processor-based Mac OS computers. MPEG is a worldwide
industry standard for compressing synchronized audio and video for
post-production and entertainment. The QuickTime MPEG extension is
available immediately for use with QuickTime 2.5; you can download it
from the QuickTime web site:
http://quicktime.apple.com/
Through the QuickTime MPEG extension, VHS-quality, full-screen video and
CD-quality audio are now available as a single synchronized data type in
the QuickTime architecture. Apple has supported hardware MPEG-1 playback
on Macintosh computers since 1994; with the announcement of this
QuickTime Media Layer (QTML) software extension, Power Macintosh users no
longer need special hardware to view a variety of MPEG files and formats.
Through the capabilities of QuickTime track synchronization, MPEG files
can also be fully integrated with other QuickTime media types, including
sprites, MIDI, text, and 3D files.
All applications updated to be compliant with QuickTime for Macintosh 2.5
can immediately take advantage of these new features. Apple is providing
a new version of MoviePlayer--version 2.5.1--to allow immediate use of
these features. Apple is committed to giving Microsoft Windows customers
an equally compelling MPEG experience in 1997.
Because of the extensibility of QTML and the open plug-in architecture of
QuickTime, the QuickTime MPEG extension can upgrade systems that
currently have QuickTime for Macintosh 2.5 installed.
The QuickTime MPEG extension will also work seamlessly with the QuickTime
plug-in for Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, enabling
real-time, live MPEG playback inside these browsers. QuickTime's "fast
start" feature enables users to view MPEG content as it downloads,
eliminating the delay associated with large multimedia files across
low-bandwidth connections.
To coincide with the release of Apple's QuickTime MPEG extension, Astarte
USA has announced the release of Astarte MPEG Exporter, a free Macintosh
QuickTime extension that allows users to easily convert any QuickTime
movie to MPEG format. MPEG Exporter is available from Astarte's web site:

Engineering team will be led by Avie Tevanian, coming from NeXT.
The Hardware Engineering team will be led by Jon Rubinstein, most
recently COO of FirePower Systems, Inc.
Marketing
With today's move, Apple, for the first time, brings all its marketing
functions into a single organization. Guerrino De Luca, previously
head of Apple's Claris subsidiary, leads the Company's new global
marketing group, with responsibility for all Product Marketing,
Developer Relations, Licensing, Marketing Communication,
Advertising, and Events activities. The NeXT marketing functions will
also report to this marketing organization.
Worldwide Sales and Support
The Company's new Worldwide Sales and Support Organization, led
by Marco Landi, will sell and bring service and support to customers
in the education, business, publishing, and consumer markets. Claris,
now led by Dominique Goupil, most recently senior vice president of
Claris Sales and Marketing, will report into this organization. The
Claris charter and strategy remain unchanged. The NeXT sales force
and professional services under Mitch Mandich, will also report into
the Worldwide Sales and Support Organization.
Finance and Administration
Led by Fred Anderson, this group comprises Finance, Corporate
Development, Information Systems, Investor Relations, and Facilities.
Operations
Led by George Scalise, this group includes Human Resources, Legal,
Worldwide Manufacturing and Procurement, Government Relations,
and Imaging.
All these functions and the executives who will lead them will report
to Dr. Gilbert Amelio, Apple's CEO and Chairman, and form the
Executive Committee. In addition, the two co-founders of the
Company, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, will have an advisory role
to Dr. Amelio, and as such, participate into the Executive Committee.
Additionally, the organization will define and manage Apple's
upcoming restructuring, which will include elimination of programs
and positions. The implementation of the restructuring will begin in
early March.

NewMedia Article Endorses the Mac OS for CD Mastering
In a very thorough NewMedia Magazine article titled "Desktop CD Recording
Shootout," author Brent Hurtig said, "If you are able to choose your
CD-ROM mastering platform, we highly recommend the Mac. First of all, the
Mac is the only desirable place to make true hybrid discs. Also, while we
completed our Mac software testing in short order with only rare phone
calls to the manufacturers, the Windows testing delayed this article by
three months and contributed to many sleepless nights."
