mac.314madamov,
Da li ste čuli da se više ne proizvode PowerBook-ovi 180 i 180c? Zamenjuju
ih nova četiri modela, prvi PowerBook Mekovi sa 68040 procesorom, doduše onim
68LC040 bez koprocesora. Novi modeli imaju oznake 520, 520c, 540 i 540c i
pritiska i šeta, nisam baš najtačnije razumeo.

mac.321janko,
Pozdrav sa Kipra od Janka svim mekovcima.
Na temu novih PBkova.
Imaju Trackpad.
mac.329madamov,
Pre neki dan pozvah Box4 BBS i imam šta da vidim: arhiva od 10Mb i više pod
nazivom Mozart.
delevoperi.

INSIGNIA SAYS IT CAN MAKE POWERMAC CD AS FAST AS A HARD DISK (June
24th 1994) Insignia Solutions, purveyor of SoftWindows for Power
Macintoshes, has come up with a little piece of caching technology
that it says makes accessing CD-ROM drives as fast as using a hard
disk. RapidCD 1.0 for the Macintosh costs $70 in the US. When a CD is
inserted into the machine, RapidCD caches its Finder information to a
3MB file on the hard disk. Other information is pulled into a
variably sized RAM cache which defaults to 512kBytes.
The control panel lets the RAM cache be configured in a variety of
ways to best match the intended use of the CD. 'General' optimisation
provides a general-purpose speed-up, 'Finder' copies some of the
Finder information into RAM, to speed up desktop manipulation.
'Database' works best when the user is jumping around between many
small files. 'Quicktime' optimisation is most appropriate for caching
large files and is also good for games players, says Insignia.

APPLE PLANS FIVE NEW DESKTOP POWER MACS FOR Q1
(June 24th 1994) Apple Computer has begun to leak codenames with its
usual abandon. Mac Week got the low-down on five new desktop models
that the company intends to launch in the first quarter of 1995. The
machines do away with Apple's proprietary NuBus architecture, opting
instead for PCI.
Two, codenamed TNT and Tsunami, we knew about already. They are
intended as the very high-end machines, and the latter has no
built-in video so that power graphics-users can select their own.
Then comes 'Nitro', which the paper believes will replace the Power
Macintosh 8100. Lower still comes 'Catalyst' which fits in where
today's 6100 and 7100 sit. At the bottom is 'Alchemy', which the
paper says is based on a Macintosh LC logic board with a single PCI
slot.

najčešće korišćene funkcije za PowerBook tipa: AppleShare On/Off, File Sharing
On/Off, Sleep, Hard Disk Spin On/Off i slično.

APPLE LAUNCHES ITS eWORLD ON-LINE SERVICE FOR MACINTOSH USERS
(June 24th 1994) Apple Computer Inc duly launched its eWorld on-line
service yesterday with the eWorld for Macintosh and the NewtonMail
messaging service for Newton. eWorld for Macintosh is an "on-line
town square" that provides a global electronic mail system together
with news, information and other services from about 100 partners
such as Reuters Holdings Plc's Reuters America Inc, Tribune Co's
Tribune Media Services, ZiffNet/Mac and Inc Magazine Online.
The company says the eWorld access software - from America OnLine Inc
- will be bundled with many of the Macintosh computers Apple ships in
the US this summer. The company is also promising to have the service
available globally later this year, and to have a version accessible
from MS-DOS and Windows-based personal computers in 1995. The basic
monthly charge is $8.95 which includes two free hours of evening or
weekend use.
After that, each subsequent hour will cost $4.95 off-peak or $7.90.
If you are outside North America, however, you will be charged $7.95
no matter when you call. Currently, Apple only has one data centre in
California; European and Pacific Rim data centres are planned as
subscriber numbers build.

traditional fiscal year. This achievement represents a unit growth
in excess of 100% during this time period. In 1989, Apple set a goal
of developing Apple Japan into a billion dollar business by the mid
1990's. Revenues for Apple Japan in 1989 were $133 million.

Kada to obaviš dobijaš normalnu MEk arhivu koju
uvlačiš u arhiver i raspakuješ.

Apple Unveils New Operating System For Macintosh Computers
Macintosh System 7.5 includes suite of productivity-enhancing features, is
compatible with virtually all Macintosh systems and software
CUPERTINO, California--July 11, 1994--The computer platform that defined the
concept of "user-friendly" is about to become even easier to use--and
streamline the way people use computers to get work done.
Apple Computer, Inc. today lifted the veil on the next release of the
operating system for the company's flagship Macintosh personal computers.
Called Macintosh System 7.5, the new release is based on customer feedback, and
incorporates an array of new capabilities designed to enhance the productivity
of people using a Macintosh. Macintosh System 7.5 includes technologies that
can automate or guide people through many of the more complex tasks associated
with using a computer. It simplifies the exchange of information between
Macintosh and MS-DOS or Windows computers. And, Macintosh System 7.5 integrates
a number of time-saving features previously available at additional cost.
The company believes that Macintosh System 7.5 will greatly enhance its
competitive position in all its traditional markets, as well as with users of
MS-DOS and Windows-based personal computers. Apple expects to ship Macintosh
System 7.5 to the market in the late summer, and plans to preview the operating
system publicly at the Macworld Exposition on August 2-5 in Boston,
Massachusetts.
"With our Power Macintosh systems, we became the industry's
price/performance leader," said David Nagel, Apple senior vice president and
general manager of the company's AppleSoft division. "And with Macintosh System
7.5, we greatly extend our leadership in providing people with systems that are
not just easy to use, but also make it easier for people to get their work
done."
Added Nagel, "As our competitors struggle to bring to market hardware and
software systems that attempt to emulate the Macintosh of a decade ago, we
continue to raise the bar to a new level. System 7.5 underscores our commitment
to deliver technologies that are focused first and foremost on solving people's
real-world work needs."
Macintosh System 7.5 brings significant improvement to the Macintosh
operating system in what Apple believes are five key areas for computer usage
in the future: Active Assistance, Personal Productivity, Compatibility,
Collaboration, and Advanced Printing and Graphics. As such, Macintosh System
7.5 incorporates a wide collection of new features and technologies (over 50 in
all), in an effort to make the experience of using the Macintosh computer more
productive and enjoyable. (Note to editors: for a full listing and explanation
of all the new features and technologies in Macintosh System 7.5, call
1-800-227-5329.) The following provides a brief summary.
Active Assistance
Macintosh System 7.5 integrates technologies that make computing easier for
people by simplifying difficult or routine computing tasks.
For example, Apple Guide is a built-in, interactive guide that leaps beyond
traditional help systems by guiding the user, one step at a time, from query
through the completion of a task. It provides on- screen visual cues to
highlight items so that the user can proceed through to the next step. Apple
Guide can be customized to lead users through tasks that are unique to their
company or organization.
A new Scriptable Finder , based on the AppleScript technology, lets users
easily automate system tasks with scripts. For example, people can use one of
the many scripts included in Macintosh System 7.5 to set up a File Sharing
"drop" folder that automatically enables File Sharing, specifies privileges and
creates a folder that can be shared with others on a network.
Personal Productivity
Independent research consistently concludes that Macintosh users are more
productive than users of other computing platforms. Macintosh System 7.5 aims
to extend that leadership by streamlining the way people get work done on a
computer.
Macintosh Drag and Drop makes it even simpler and faster for users to
implement basic computing tasks by moving objects around the Macintosh screen
to get things done. For example, when a user drags text or graphics to the
desktop, a clippings file is automatically created. Another feature,
Hierarchical Menus, enables faster and easier access to items that are kept in
folders under the Apple menu by displaying sub menus of recent documents and
applications that have been used. In addition, an improved Find File capability
presents a list of all found files and the path to an individual file, as well
as allows the user to drag-and-drop the file to a new location, or even open
the file.
Compatibility
One of Apple's major company-wide strategies is to make it easier for MS-DOS
and Windows users to move to the Macintosh platform, and to make it easier for
Macintosh customers to work in mixed computing environments.
Macintosh PC Exchange and Macintosh Easy Open, for example, are a set of
utilities that allow MS-DOS, Windows and OS/2 data files to be opened and
edited with compatible Macintosh applications. MacTCP offers built-in TCP/IP
(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)--a major and pervasive
communications protocol for UNIX networking--at the software level. TCP/IP is
also the standard protocol for the Internet communications network.
Collaboration
Today, the Macintosh is the most networked brand of personal computer, due in
part to Apple's pioneering efforts to develop and build in collaborative tools
and technologies. With Macintosh System 7.5, collaborative technology becomes
part of the standard Macintosh operating system.
For example, PowerTalk --Apple's first collaboration solution for
individuals--allows users to send electronic mail, share files and digitally
"sign" and forward documents from within an application. PowerTalk includes the
universal desktop mailbox--a single mail box for all incoming and outgoing
mail--including on-line services, fax, voice, electronic mail from various
sources, and documents from any application.
Advanced Graphics and Simplified Printing
Macintosh has long been acknowledged as the industry's preeminent system for
graphic design and production. Macintosh System 7.5 greatly advances this
position with the integration of the QuickDraw GX technologies.
QuickDraw GX offers easier printing, color management, typography and
document portability. For example, to print a document in QuickDraw GX, a user
can simply drag the file to the desktop printer icon. The print queue status
can easily be viewed and rearranged by double clicking on the printer icon. As
well, the user can easily drag the document to a different printer icon.
A new type of document file-format in QuickDraw GX also allows users to
create a file that can be opened, viewed and printed from any other Macintosh
with QuickDraw GX installed, without having the original fonts or application
installed.
Advanced features of QuickDraw GX that will appeal to the publishing
community include sophisticated typography, international support for languages
such as Kanji or Arabic and enhanced color matching.
Support for Macintosh System 7.5
Current third-party developer support for Macintosh System 7.5 is strong and
growing. Among the vendors that will be supporting the new operating system are
WordPerfect Corporation, Microsoft, Aldus, Adobe and many more.
"The new features in Macintosh System 7.5 give us new opportunity to
differentiate our word processing application. Specifically, we are getting
tremendous feedback from our beta users regarding the Apple Guide and Macintosh
Drag and Drop enhancements," said Dave Harding, product manager for WordPerfect
3.1, WordPerfect Corporation.
System Requirements
Macintosh System 7.5 will run on Macintosh computers with appropriate Random
Access Memory (RAM) and at least a 68020 processor. This includes all currently
shipping desktop Macintosh models, PowerBook notebook computers, and all of
Apple's recently introduced Power Macintosh systems. The new release will be
compatible with virtually all Macintosh applications software currently
available.
On a 680x0-based Macintosh computer, Macintosh System 7.5 requires a
minimum of four megabytes of RAM to run the core elements with most
applications and a minimum of eight megabytes of RAM to use PowerTalk and
QuickDraw GX. When installed on Power Macintosh systems, Macintosh System 7.5

hardverski RTS/CTS potreban posebno napravljen kabl).

Mene Extension manager nijednom nije zaj*****.

Quadra 610: Description (10/93)
Overview
--------
Based on the fast 25-mHz Motorola 68040 processor, the Macintosh Quadra 610
provides affordable high performance. It comes with 8MB of RAM and an integral
math coprocessor (no FPU in the USA's 8/160 configuration). You can expand
memory to up to 68MB for sophisticated graphics and multimedia applications as
well as mainstream business programs.
The Quadra 610 provides high-speed Ethernet support on-board.
For convenience, the Quadra 610 supports all Apple displays and almost any
commonly available third-party display, including monochrome or color, portrait
or landscape, RGB or VGA, and any screen size. You can display up to 256 colors
on all Apple color monitors and, with additional video RAM, more than 32,000
colors on most Apple monitors. Which means you get more colors than ever from
your display without having to purchase an additional video card.
The Quadra 610 is easy to expand. It comes with eight built-in ports and an
expansion slot, so you can set up a system that meets your exact needs, as well
as increase your computing power as your needs grow.
The Quadra 610 includes an internal hard drive. Its high-speed SCSI interface
lets you add high-volume storage devices, such as the AppleCD 300i internal
CD-ROM drive, so you can run hundreds of CD-ROM titles.

Neće postojati Word for PowerMac, već i dalje Word for Macintosh, jer, kao

LaserWriter Select 360: Description (10/93)
The LaserWriter Select 360 printer is a low-cost, high performance
printer that features a 10 page-per-minute (ppm) engine. The first
thing youŇll notice about the LaserWriter Select 360 is its
outstanding print quality. Offering 600-dot-per-inch (dpi) resolution,
the LaserWriter Select 360 produces consistently superior output with
crisp text, rich graphics and perfect curves.
The LaserWriter Select 360, which is based on an AMD 29200 RISC
microprocessor, is significantly faster than the Personal LaserWriter
NTR, and approximately 16% faster than the LaserWriter Pro 630. It has
LocalTalk, RS-232, and parallel (Centronics) ports, but no SCSI port
for attaching an external hard drive.
Whether you use Macintosh, Windows, or MS-DOS computers, the LaserWriter Select
360 provides the plug-and-play simplicity you need. All ports stay active
simultaneously, so the printer can accept jobs from all types of computers
without you having to change a single setting. The LaserWriter Select 360
also automatically switches between PostScript Level 2 and PCL 5 languages.
When you add the PostScript Fax Card, the LaserWriter Select 360
offers another big advantage, you can use it to receive and send
faxes as easily as you can print from both Macintosh and Windows
computers. WhatŇs more, you can print them on plain paper at up to
600-dpi resolution. Everyone on the network can use the LaserWriter
Select 360 to send faxes to any PostScript or standard Group 3 fax
machine and know theyŇll arrive looking their best.
With two versatile paper trays built-in, plus an optional third tray,
the LaserWriter Select 360 supports a total paper capacity of 800
sheets.

Apple und Novell vereinbaren die
Implementierung von NetWare 4 auf den Apple
PowerPC Workgroup Servern
Cupertino/Mčnchen, 10. Mai 1994.
Netzwerkumgebungen an.
AppleShare File and Print Services, PowerShare Collaboration Servers,
So

Run Macintosh Applications) Date: Tue, 15 Mar 9415:12:08 PST

The following announcement was made earlier today, Tuesday, March 15, 1994.
Press inquiries should be directed to Carol Sacks, SunSoft PR, x61462.
MACINTOSH APPLICATIONS TO RUN ON SOLARIS
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- March 15, 1994 -- SunSoft, Inc. today announced that
it has signed a technology and marketing agreement with Apple Computer, Inc.
to provide Macintosh applications on Solaris. The agreement calls for SunSoft
and Apple to cooperate in the development and testing of Apple Computer's
Macintosh Application Environment (MAE). The agreement also allows SunSoft to
include a trial version of MAE in future versions of Solaris.
"We are very excited about this agreement with Apple," said Edward J. Zander,
president of SunSoft, Inc. "This will greatly enhance our client-server
offerings. On the server side, we are already a leading provider of file,
application, database and print services to Macintosh, Microsoft Windows and
MS-DOS PC clients. Now, with this joint effort we can offer Solaris clients
access to all of their favourite personal productivity applications, while
still taking advantage of the powerful network-based underlying architecture
of the industry's leading UNIX environment. This gives Solaris users
unparalled application access."
The agreement calls for joint engineering, testing, marketing and distribution
efforts. Activities include quality assurance and performance testing, as well
as including a trial version of the Macintosh Application Environment in
Solaris.
The Macintosh Application Environment is a software operating environment
which runs native, off-the-shelf Macintosh 680xO-based applications on UNIX
workstations. With the MAE software, a user can run an X Window desktop with
the major functions of a Macintosh environment -- including the graphical user
interface, consistent with a Macintosh computer look-and-feel, advanced
file-handling capabilities and the ability to cut and paste between
applications.
"For the first time from Apple, Solaris users can benefit from the Macintosh's
ease-of-use," said Morris Taradalsky, vice president and general manager of
Apple's Business Systems Division. ~Combined with the power of UNIX
workstations, Solaris users can reap the productivity rewards of having both
mission-critical and Macintosh general-productivity applications fully
integrated on the same system.~
The Macintosh Application Environment will be available for Solaris from Apple
Computer.

vendorda.sitmac.401corto,
ciniti.
mac.402madamov,
-> #401, corto> prebaciti nasu struju na 120v i 50HZ.

(obično) trijak, a on sigurno! radi radnju (bušilica od 370W radi bez
problema).

čemu on služi) vrlo sam skeptičan i raspitao sam se kod nekih šta on stvarno
radi. Doduše i dan danas ga koristim na modemu kod kuće.

stvarima. B)))
